[52]***The positive aspect of this classic vertical-scrolling shooting game are the good play controls. On the negative side stands the repetitive stage and enemy design. Over 30 levels is much for an old shooting game, but after a few stages you have virtually seen everything the game has to offer. And in later stages with many enemies on screen the game begins to flicker annoyingly. Still quite an improvement over other classic shooters like [game=#8480]Xevious[/game].***This game is great its just your plane and you fighting planes for 34 or so levels.
Watch out for the sand and the planes that circle you and come out you from behiend

1942 Capcom (Digital Eclipse)2000Fly into the face of danger. It's 1942. It's the classic shooter. It's one of history's most popular scrolling games and now it's coming to you on the Game Boy Color System. Take to the skies in this time honored vertical scrolling shooter to dodge enemy fire, execute loops and pick up devastating power-ups. It features 32 action-packed daring levels.***
[100]***Take off from a carrier in the fateful year of 1942 and island-hop through 32 increasingly daunting levels, culminating in aerial combat over Tokyo. Gameplay in this overhead shooter is simple: blast enemies, snag power-ups and avoid collisions before re-landing on your flattop.

If you mow down planes in a formation, you'll receive one of six different power-ups, beginning with the double machine gun. Another power-up will obliterate all on-screen enemies.

As you advance on Tokyo, you'll be faced with bigger and badder swarms of enemy craft. Evade troublemakers by pressing the A Button to loop. It's best to avoid ambushes by staying near the screen's center.

Two can play 1942 by alternating turns. You can print out top scores with the Game Boy Printer.

1942 is compatible with Game Boy Color or GBA units only.

Mission objectives include bombing and strafing raids against facilities and convoys, protection of ground troops against enemy aircraft and, of course, action-packed dogfights against enemy aces. Prepare to unleash an arsenal of machine guns, bombs, rockets and torpedoes above lush, green countrysides, open seas and battle-pocked urban areas.

– Arcade mode – decide your own game rules

– Ground, air and sea targets

– 5 different aircraft

– Auto locking system makes dogfights a joy

– Top-down view for precision bombing***None of us saw the four fighters diving towards us from cover of the midday sun. An otherworldly roar of engines, the dry rattle of machine-gun fire and suddenly Phelps and Ecclestone disintegrated in front of me in a cloud of blood and metal, as if grenades had gone of inside their cockpits. I dove sharply, in a desperate attempt to escape the unseen menace, but it was too late...

My Spitfire jerked as bullets tore into wings and body, then agonizing pain as my shoulder and chest were likewise perforated. Blood spewed from my mouth, showering the windshield with ruby droplets. Like a falling Angel I descended in a ball of red flame.

Blue Max: Aces of the Great War Three-Sixty (Artech Digital Productions)19901914 - the peaceful blue skies over France are shattered forever by the machine guns of mankind's first fighting aircraft. The medal "Pour le Merite" - The British called it "the Blue Max" - was awarded to the best German pilots of World War I. To flyers of both sides it symbolized the utmost in daring, courage, and honor during a time that will never be repeated in the story of aviation.

Fame was rated daily on the numbers of planes shot down; rapid advances were made in flying technology and techniques; men prepared themselves to die at the word of a leader. And out of it all grew the desire to fly and win that pushed pilots, airplanes, and the newborn aviation industry to the limits.

In Blue Max: Aces of the Great War, begin by choosing sides and one of eight great fighters. Action is immediate and relentless, as you fly the most famous aircraft of the time - Fokker, Spad, Nieuport, Sopwith, Albatross - with the best of the best, including Richthofen, Fonck, Mannock, and Rickenbacker. Learn the characteristics of each plane, and the different tricks and techniques of each ace.

Different playing modes let one or two players fly solo, as a team, or against each other using the same computer. Fly in full action dogfights, undertake missions to destroy bridges and observation balloons, or work out strategies a segment at a time in detail.***
