BOH author1999The game claims it isn't a shooter, and although it has significant elements besides shooting, most of the time is spent actually shooting an endless stream of enemies that is quite clearly pointed out to be endless. The game suggests ignoring the enemies and just exploring, but this makes it impossible to actually win the game since the enemies are so numerous and there aren't that many health pickups to deal with them.***BOH is a unique retro-flavoured puzzle-riddled maze game spiced up with thrilling action.
You move in claustrophobic, mysterious, dangerous battlefields searching for the Evil Masters, who throw countless enemies at you until you discover and face them in the final battle. Although your quests are made slightly less hard by the power-ups scattered all around, carrying out the missions demands lots of concentration and quick reflexes.

With BOH the fun never ends: new missions can be added anytime and you can even create your own! And, as if that was not enough, you can also customize entirely its audio-visual aspect!

BOH has been created with lots of passion and care to offer, with its oldschool style, a fascinatingly different videogaming experience.

Haxima  author2003An old school computer RPG, turn based combat mode, similar in mechanics to Ultima V and with similarities to Ultima III & IV. Explore the land, talk to everyone, collect better equipment, and solve quests. Talking is done by typing key words. All interaction with characters is done with talking (or combat). The Dead Lands  author2003A classic Zelda style quest with more difficulty in most aspects but easier in new ways. 2nd quest enemies are present as early as Level 2. Dungeon entrances are all hidden secrets. After dying, Link starts with full hearts. There are no enemies on the roads between kingdoms or in towns (like Zelda II). Fight the monsters, defeat Ganon, rescue 3 princess.***[sic]After Link saved Hyrule from the evil grasp of Ganon the kingdom of Hyrule prospered as a major center of trade. Three other kingdoms called Tenn, Montar, and Frellan arose around Hyrule, as a result of its expansion. Link put his weapons in the royal armory, because he had no need for them any longer, and the Triforce was placed in the throne room and heavily guarded. Link moved to the kingdom of Tenn and began to raise a family. But one fateful day Link was killed by a group of angry moblins; not even his great skill could save him. For over 10 years Hyrule reigned as the largest kingdom in the world, but the remaining band of Ganon's army sought tirelessly to revive their once great leader. After 11 long years they finally suceeded. Ganon easily retook the Triforce in the absense of Link and brought Hyrule to its knees. 9 years later Ganon grew angry because even though he destroyed Hyrule, the three daughter kingdoms still prospered, so he sought to capture and destroy them as well. He began by kidnapping the princess Julie of Frellan. Then Ganon created strong-holds (in each Ganon put Link's weapons to keep them from any adventurous soul) in each of the kingdoms and sent his armies out to destroy the land. Now it is up to Link's son, also named Link, to gather his father's weapons and destroy Ganon in the Dead Land. Linuxlabelimagesubject

6 de 10***The world of Darwinia is a virtual themepark, running entirely inside a computer network and populated by a sentient evolving life form called the Darwinians. Unfortunately Darwinia has been overrun by a computer virus which has multiplied out of control. Your task is to destroy the Viral Infection and save the Darwinians from extinction.

Ys Origin  Nihon Falcom;XSEED (Nihon Falcom)2006700 years before the events of Ys I & II, the land of Ys was on the brink of destruction. Demons came in droves and forced the twin Goddesses who ruled the land to whisk their subjects away from the surface, into the safe embrace of the clouds. The demons were persistent, however, erecting a massive tower in pursuit. The battle that raged upon the ground had begun ascending for a second round up above.

One day, amidst this turmoil, the Goddesses stole away into the night, vanishing from Ys altogether. And there's only one place they could have gone: the Devil's Tower.

A search party of knights and sorcerers was hastily formed and dispatched to the surface in hopes of retrieving these runaway deities. Among its members were apprentice knight Yunica Tovah and troubled sorcerer Hugo Fact.

This is their story. Or at least, it's how each of them remembers it.

Expanding upon the gameplay elements introduced in Ys: The Ark of Napishtim and further developed in Ys: The Oath in Felghana, Ys Origin perfects the formula by adding different styles of play and new features never before seen in the Ys universe. Best described as an arcade-like platformer RPG with Metroidvania elements and a complex, multi-faceted narrative, Ys Origin is the perfect mix of action, exploration and story. Screen-filling bosses with complex AI, unique platforming elements, innovative puzzles and a deeply involving mystery await within the wildly varied confines of this classic Ys dungeon.

Come see how long you can last in the Devil's Tower...

Key Features:
* Officially available in English for the very first time.
* Three unique playable characters in story mode, with additional variations (and characters?) unlockable through other modes.
* Five difficulty levels ranging from "Very Easy" for casual players to "Nightmare" for true Ys masters.
* Unlockable "Time Attack" and "Boss Rush" modes for anyone looking to show off his/her boss-taming abilities.
* Unlockable Arena Mode pits players against massive hordes of enemies for unique gameplay rewards.
* Over 40 unique Steam Achievements, Steam Cloud support and hundreds of highly competitive leaderboards.
* Minutely configurable high-resolution graphics with true widescreen support.
* Fully adjustable controls supporting virtually any USB gamepad, as well as a standard keyboard and mouse setup.***Steam/English release was on 2012-05-31***Prequel to the whole Ys series and the second game that doesn't revolve around Adol Christin (first was Ys Strategy), set some 700 years before the events of Ancient Ys Vanished (Ys 1&2).

The chosen character affects the story some, but the played areas and such are the same. Encountered NPCs, including bosses, are not always the same and the dialogue tends to be different even if following the same lines. Some items are found in different places too.

The game has seemingly no notable plans for what they're doing besides bug fixing and adding minor features (most/all of them not really gameplay related), so I've opted to mark this game as no longer in development (FOSS games tend to make that statement a bit strange).

Kernel Panic zwzsg2007Kernel Panic is a game about computers. Systems, Hackers and Networks wage war in a matrix of DOOM! The only constraints are time and space; unlike other real time strategy games, no resource economy exists in KP.

All units are free in this game, every factory built will be spamming units at all times. You can build more factories, but only on pre-defined areas (geothermal vents). All that remains is pure strategy and tactics.

KP makes for a frantically fast-paced, action-oriented game, with a very unique graphical style.

Bionic Commando Rearmed  Capcom (GRIN)2008Classic side-scrolling gameplay is reporting back for duty with Bionic Commando Rearmed, a remake of the classic NES game, out now on PC.

20 years after the 8-bit classic was released, Bionic Commando Rearmed recreates the world of the original with a complete "2.5D" visual revamp. Bionic Commando Rearmed preserves the original's mix of swinging and shooting in an intense 2D side-scroller, all to the tune of a brand-new soundtrack based on the classic 8-bit music from the NES masterpiece.
But Rearmed is far more than just a remake - it features all-new modes such as the 2-player co-op play, smarter enemy AI, new bionic arm abilities, new weapons, bigger bosses and online rankings. Faithfully sticking to the story of the NES game, Bionic Commando Rearmed tells the story of Nathan "R.A.D." Spencer's first mission, sent in to retrieve captured agent Super Joe from the hands of the Imperials.
Fans of the original story can expect to see all the characters from the NES version, as well as the memorable moments that made the title so popular with fans. Rearmed will also link-up to its 3D "big brother" coming to PC, with unlockable content, in-game hints and a story that spans both games.

Key features:

*Classic Bionic Commando side-scrolling gameplay, updated with new abilities, weapons and bosses
*2-player co-op mode
*Total modern visual and audio revamp
*Cross-game interoperability – complete specific parts of Bionic Commando Rearmed to unlock new content and hints for the Bionic Commando sequel
*Challenge Rooms – obstacles courses and swing puzzles that test your skills, with your best times ranked against other users in online leaderboards
*Top-Down Stages – the return of the top-down scrolling gameplay of the original's 'Enemy Encounter' stages, with remixed music from the classic Commando!
*Multiplayer – up to 4 players can face off in a frantic melee of shooting and swinging!
*In-game art designed by Shinkiro, one of Capcom's most talented artists

7 de 10***"Long ago a computer scientist called Dr Sepulveda created a beautiful digital world existing entirely within a computer network of his own invention. This world was called Darwinia and it was inhabited by a peaceful, law-abiding digital life-form called the Darwinians.

As the years wore on however the Darwinians became ever more aggressive and autonomous. They divided into factions, squabbling over Darwinia's limited natural resources. Tribes began to roam the fractal voids hell bent on each others destruction, drunk on power and unswerving in the pursuit of world supremacy.

Far and wide, they became known as the Multiwinians..."

Welcome to Multiwinia: Survival of the Flattest — the ultimate retro-arcade multiplayer experience! Choose from a selection of six spectacular action-packed game modes, set in one of the most beautiful game environs you will ever set eyes on.

Challenge your opponent to a game of stick-man slaughter, and watch digital-war unfold, as your Multiwinian army struggles to complete a chosen task faster and better than your rival's. It's fast, it's furious, and only the flattest will survive!

BOH EDITEL2009BOH is a top-down shooter with retro graphics and sound, somewhat comparable to Alien Breed.

As a member of the Resistance it is the player's goal to repel an invasion of unknown beings. These beings, ranging from bugs to robots to zombies (and more), will spawn indefinitely until the player finds the "Evil Masters", which have to be defeated to complete the missions. To accomplish this task one can find better weapons, shield recharges, enemy detectors and pieces of equipment, such as automappers, light sources and a 360° visor, which, due to initially limited field of vision and illumination, are essential to navigate the labyrinths which missions take place in. Exploration, indeed, represents the game's core.

Missions are entirely stand-alone, so, except for secret missions not yet unlocked, the player is allowed to select any mission he/she would like to play from the main menu. Some missions are multi-phase, meaning that the player has to complete in strict sequence the phases they are subdivided into. Each mission has a difficulty rating - the higher the difficulty the more complex its labyrinth(s) will be.

A notable aspect of the game is the fact that the setting can be completely redefined by means of themes - at the time of writing, there are 6 themes that render sci-fi/alien, medieval, underground and pseudo-vectorial environments.

BIT.TRIP CORE  Aksys Games (Gaijin Games)2009BIT.TRIP CORE continues the BIT.TRIP saga in this retro-arcade-style game. BIT.TRIP CORE adds up to an exciting action/rhythm game that's best played while zoning out on the tunes and letting the visuals swallow you whole. The experience is inspired by games from the '80s, but with a modern twist. The game play is entirely new to the series, leaving the single-axis controls of BIT.TRIP BEAT behind in favor of the ability to control two axes. If the difficulty gets you down, grab a friend and play cooperatively with two-player multiplayer. Make it to the end and you'll have journeyed one step further to completing your BIT.TRIP.

Interesante.
