Shadow of the Beast Psygnosis (Reflections)1989Many years ago, on a moonless night, a small child was stolen away from its unsuspecting parents. Its mysterious abductors carried it far across the land to the mighty temple Necropolis.
There the child was accepted by the mages of darkness, warrior priests of the Beast Lord. Deep below the temple the child was escorted, passing through a labyrinth of rooms and passages to the Chambers of Creation. There the evil mages worked their dark arts creating strange creatures, plants and traps to guard the Beast's stronghold.
For the child they had a special purpose, but first came years of preparation.
Secret potions concocted from the blood of rare creatures slowly transformed his appearance - turning him from a human into a strange creature of incredible power, agility and strength. Deep hypnosis caused him to erase memories of his past life completely and become the warrior messenger of the Beast.

Many years passed in his service to the temple as he grew to maturity. Then one day he discovered an awful secret the horrible truth about his past...
a truth that now leads him on a trail of total and bloody revenge against his masters. You were that child.
Now the time has come to enter the Shadow of the Beast!***

[52]***The demo version is an unplayable graphic demo for OCS Amigas. You can't play for more than 10-15 minutes and you lose! Nice graphics & music though!***The best music ever heard on a 90's game!

Shadow of the Beast  Electronic Arts;Psygnosis (Psygnosis)1991Supposedly poor port that makes the game run faster than the original Amiga version, making it much more harder than the original which itself was already quite hard.***Directly from the manual:

Fight your way through several different regions in order to reach the heart of the enemy's stronghold and face your ultimate adversary - the Beast Lord. The creatures you encounter on the way will invariably be hostile and will cause damage when they come into contact with you. Contact can be avoided by punching or kicking creatures away from you before they get too close, or by shooting them if you have a weapon.

Shadow of the Beast  Atari;Psygnosis (Digital Developments)1992Excellent (but very difficult) platformer with some of the absolute best graphics on the Lynx. Great music and sound. Better than the Genesis version. Lynxlabelimageminimize
Shadow of the Beast 2  Electronic Arts;Psygnosis (Psygnosis)1992Directly from the manual:

To save your sister you must fight your way across danger-fraught Kara-Moon to reach Beast Mage and once again defeat him in battle.

You will confront many creatures on your journey, some of whom may have information for you while others merely crave your death. Physical contact with enemies depletes your energy.

Collectable weapons are scattered throughout Kara-Moon as are other useful objects.

Some of the puzzles and obstacles you encounter may require help from other characters - voluntary or otherwise.

Shadow of the Beast II Psygnosis (Reflections)1990SHADOW of the Beast II is very similar to its highly acclaimed predecessor.
However, Psygnosis has listened to the comments made about the first game and improved upon them for this, the second instalment of the Beast saga.
Having fought your way across the plains, you managed to reach the killer of your father, the Beast Mage, Zelek.
A long and arduous battle ensued and as the sun set in the east only one shadowy figure remained standing.
Against all odds you had defeated the powerful wizard and avenged the death of your once proud father.
As time passed, people moved to the furthest reaches of the land in search of a more bountiful life. What with the Mage long since deceased the peasants slept safely in their beds, or so they thought. One terrible night, high on mountain top, the silhouette of a lone figure could be made out against the dark night sky.
As rain poured out of the sky and lightning flashed all around the strange figure raised a staff causing weird electrical currents to run all over his body.
The figure turned and twisted until it had become a hideous winged creature. Gliding effortlessly down from the mountain, the creature swooped over o lonesome cottage ripping off the roof as though it were made of straw Inside a baby screamed as its mother looked upwards.
A menacingly huge hand reached in and grasped the babe. The creature took off into the distance leaving the poor woman all alone in the darkness.
So it was that the Beast Mage returned, taking your only son in the process. There was no question what you must do, even without your Beast powers you must travel to the Kara-Moon, defeat the Mage and rescue your heir Beast It looks quite similar to its predecessor. That is, it takes the guise of a platform-style game come differences between the two Beast games are that this second instalment is much bigger and it requires far more lateral thinking and puzzle solving.
Players may now collect coins to spend on needy provisions. Clues can be gleaned by asking the inhabitants of Kara-Moon probing questions You may even barter objects in return for information and help.
