Este juego resalta por su gran variedad de culturas y unidades, pudiendo ir desde los avasalladores galos, pasando por los temibles germanos, a la máquina trilladora que es la legión romana o el muro impenetrable de la sarisa macedónica, los imparables elefantes acorazados o los divertidísimos cerdos incendiarios... Su elemento más reseñable es el modo de juego batalla personalizada, que te deja recrear todo tipo de batallas por justas, desequilibradas o absurdamente imposibles según la historia que sean. Además incluye el Barbarian Invansion, con culturas como los hostigadores y temerarios hunos, o campañas para los que amen los retos como la casi imposible misión de salvar el Imperio Romano de Occidente.
