SimCity 2000 Maxis1994Based on the phenomenally successful SimCity, you're given a plot of barren land to zone into industrial, residential, and commercial areas. As your city grows, you must deal with crime, education, and health issues by strategically placing police stations, schools, and hospitals. Manage traffic, the budget, and the needs of your constituents, or face riots, ridicule in the press, and eventual impeachment.

They also released several "Scenario Editions", an "Urban Renewal Kit" and a "SimCity 2000: Special Edition" which is an All-In-One Pack.

Versions for Windows were also released.

SimCity 3000 Unlimited  Loki;SuSE (Maxis;Loki)2000This is a somewhat expanded re-release of SimCity 3 with mostly a small number of new buildings, terrains, and such that represent the world more globally.***The citizens of the megalopolis are unhappy with Hizzoner. Crime is out of control. Traffic is clogging the city's main arteries. Pollution is soaring. And to top it all, the pro sports team is threatening to move to the next city unless they get that new stadium...but you can step in as the mayor and commissioner of this fine city and save the day with your planning and building skills!

The famous SimCity series from Maxis is now on its way to Linux at last! Now you can get down and dirty with zoning, energy consumption, crime control, and taxation, all in the hopes of keeping those finicky Sims happy in your metropolis -- or suffer their wrath at the ballot box. SimCity 3000 Unlimited is the latest installment in this classic series, and now you can play it on Linux and you can play it in 9 different languages (English, French, German, Dutch, Italian, Polish, Portuguese, Spanish and Swedish)!***A commercial game.
For any linux with 2.2.x kernel and glibc 2.1. Also needs 4MB video card, XFree86 3.3.5+, 16-bit Color and an OSS compatible 16-bit Sound card. Demo available. English, French, German, Dutch, Italian, Polish, Portuguese, Spanish and Swedish.

Running the game on Ubuntu requires twothings. First you need SimCity 3000 Unlimited version 2.0. If you don't have that version, use Loki's official patch "sc3u-2.0a-x86.run" that can be legally and freely obtained where find (on the internet for example). Second you need to set an environmental variable to fake an older kernel version, LD_ASSUME_KERNEL=2.4.2. This can be done automagically each time by typing the following kung-foo in a terminal:
sudo sh -c 'cat > /usr/local/bin/sc3u << EOF
#!/bin/bash
LD_ASSUME_KERNEL=2.4.2 /usr/local/games/SC3U/sc3u
EOF'
Hit <Enter> and from now on the command "sc3u" will run the game.

SimCity 4  Electronic Arts (Maxis)2003In SimCity 4, you don't just build your city, you breathe life into it. Sculpt mountains, gouge riverbeds, and seed forests to lay the groundwork for your creation. Then construct the most realistic metropolis you can imagine. Your city comes alive with the hustle and bustle of construction crews, the snarl of traffic, and the activity of your Sims. Move your personalized Sims into your city and watch as they go about their daily lives. Build mansions on mountainsides, raise skyscrapers downtown, and build transportation networks to form a massive region of SimCities that share and compete for resources. With every decision you make, your city and your Sims will respond for better or worse. In SimCity 4, your city pulses with the life you give it.***The game had an expansion called Rush Hour which was released as regular expansion and as part of the Deluxe re-release of the original. This added several new buildings related to traffic control and some such stuff. Small expansion in the end. Windowslabelimagesubject
