Darkseed II  Cyberdreams (Destiny Media Technologies)1995 amnesia clickadventure dementia digitizedimages hrgiger liveactors maleprotagonist Dark Seed II continues the nightmare of Mike Dawson as he recovers from a nervous breakdown from his earlier encounters with the Ancients. Back in his hometown, Mike's high school sweetheart, Rita, is found murdered after the high school reunion. Unfortunately, Mike cannot remember much about that night, even though others saw him with Rita. Now, as the prime suspect, he must find a way to prove his innocence.

The designs of H.R. Giger are pivotal in this horror-tinged point 'n click adventure. Players will be swapping between the Normal World and the Dark World, with 75 prerendered 3D locations in total. There are 40 characters to interact with. The goal is to overthrow the Behemoth of the Dark World and cut through the corruption of the Normal World.

Movement, action and dialogue interaction modes are toggled between using the right mouse button, with the full screen used for location display unless the game menu or inventory bars are called into use.

In the Dead of Night Trecision1995 clickadventure detectivemystery maleprotagonist In one of the better but sadly less-known shareware games, you are private investigator Tom Scool. You have been hired by a dishonest jewel collector to sneak into a famous actress' chalet, posing as the double of well-known thriller writer Eric Wells, and to steal her precious gem "Vesnú". But the actress was killed by one of her guests and because of snowstorm you have to wait for police and try to solve this murder case by yourself. Every character has their own personality and you have to find their weakest places, talking to all of them and collecting the items which are available for your inventory. The game sports some good puzzles, believable characters, and an excellent plot. Overall, an atmospheric game that could easily have sold as a commercial game, and boded well for Trecision's later adventure games, including the outstanding Nightlong. labelimagesubject

The Dark Convergence - (Jeff kintz)1993 maleprotagonist wordinput his is a very rare horror adventure game. The plot is simple: one night the player and some friends have a car crash on a near-deserted road. The player is sent out to search for some help and stumbles on an abandoned house. Inside it bloody bodies are found, and unknown menaces from other worlds and other dimensions try to kill the player. Will you survive the night and save the day? The game is programmed in QBasic (there is even the .bas file inside the game's folder) and the engine is similar to the one used in the Hugo's House of Horror series. The player controls the character with arrow keys and types the desired action using the parser. The game focuses on a morbid atmosphere and on violence with many nasty and gory situations in it. The plot and atmosphere for some ideas are reminiscent of Dark Seed. labelimagesubject

Apparently the copy protection questions the game asks about the manual are based on an entirely different manual.

The Secret of Donkey Island  Vochozka Trading (Pterodon Software)1994 clickadventure island maleprotagonist pirateprotagonist pirates This is a parody on the glorious Monkey Island games... A pirate-wannabe Gaybush Nosehair must travel to the dangerous Donkey Island, to find a treasure and to face his enemy - the ghost-pirate LeDuck. The interface is pretty much the same like in first two Monkey Island games, and the graphics are also very similar. The development of "Tajemstvi Osliho ostrova" started after two students of the same high school - Jarek Kolar and Petr Vlcek first met. They worked on the game for fun and only in their free time. The programmer coded the whole game on a school's computer because he didn't have his own. After two years of development they contacted Petr Vochozka (the only one Czech publisher of games at those times) and signed a publishing deal with him. On June 20, 2000 (exactly 6 years after its first release) it was released as freeware. labelimagesubject
Alive... Behind the Moon Nova Media1996 2030s 21stcentury future luna maleprotagonist moon Alive ....Behind the Moon.... is an enhanced remake of the 1991 game Alive, originally developed by Lankhor for the Amstrad CPC.

On the moon's side which is turned away from earth a unknown cosmic element causes atmospheric changes. So James Butterfield, a dishonorable dismissed astronaut, flies with his friend Sven to the moon to check the situation and get a reward of one million dollars. Of course the space ship crashes. So the first task is to find medicine for the injured Sven. When that is taken care of James explores the moon and meets many foreign peoples like the Gouaks, Wounks or Amazons.

The user interface consists of many windows. The main window is in the upper right were a picture of the current view or conversational partner is shown. There the player can click on items to collect them or use items from the inventory to solve puzzles. Some items are showed in a close up view in a windows left to the main window when clicked on. There it can be manipulated further. Above this window is a mini map. Under the main window is a panel were the main actions can be chosen, e.g. looking, speaking or fighting. Left and right of this panel are the inventory screens were objects can be used and combined with each other. Finally on the far left are bars were the current stats of health, fatigue, durst and hunger are shown. These have to be hold on a reasonable height by eating, sleeping and so on

When speaking with someone the interfaces changes to another screen where left of the main windows the possible answers can be chosen. Under the main window the statements of the other person are displayed. Death waits behind every corner, a step in the wrong direction, a false answer or a lost fight lead to a individual game over screen.***

Auf der Suche nach Dr. Gara ARAG (Promotion Software)1994 advergame clickadventure maleprotagonist This is a free advertising game to promote ARAG insurance company. We have to go to Dinotown to solve the mystery of the prehistoric beings populating the city. Well, that's about the entire plot. First, we are approached by a dangerous dinosaur that compels us to enter name and address in a form, so that we come into possession of an identity document. We then find us on orientation map again, which makes up virtually the most gameplay. So we are at any of the countless villages only a short time and then land again on the map - assuming you will not be eaten by a giant lizard, because you have given a wrong answer. You go aimlessly through this area. There is an ice cream parlor, a car dealership, a golf course, a hospital, a radio tower, yes, even a disco. Only the ARAG insurance agency that employs the only human contact can help out sometimes. In addition, in the inventory a lot of great items are accumulated, which can not be considered because you do not know in 80% of cases what they are supposed to represent. There are no right puzzles, the difficulty is to find out at what place in Dinotown currently something can be done. The game seems designed for children and the graphics are static. labelimagesubject
In Search of the Most Amazing Thing Spinnaker Software1983 maleprotagonist menus spu-pcspeaker Although marketed as a children's game, ISOTMAT drew acclaim from players of all ages for its original concept and imaginative game world. The game begins on a mysterious planet, Porquatz, with the androgynous player, Terry Bailey, exploring his/her subterranean home city by elevator. Terry's mysterious uncle, Smoke Bailey, has recently arrived in a strange craft known as the B-Liner, a hybridized all-terrain vehicle and hot-air balloon. Finding Smoke napping in his room, and waking him from his reverie with repeated shouts, Terry is tasked by Smoke to embark in the B-Liner on a quest for a lost artifact known only as "The Most Amazing Thing". Navigating the world outside the city, known as the Mire, is a considerable challenge. Driving the B-Liner over the tar-like surface is easy, but consumes precious fuel. To conserve fuel, the B-Liner can float above the Mire in unpowered flight, but this requires the player to carefully trim the B-Liner's altitude to take advantage of different wind currents prevailing at different altitudes. To investigate notable objects in the Mire, the player can perform EVA using a personal jetpack. Encounters range from the benign Popberry trees, which provide fuel for the B-Liner, to the deadly Mire crabs, to the quizzical merchant aliens who provide Terry with vital clues and supplies for the quest. To trade with these aliens, the player must create Musix, a simple line-drawing translated by the game into an atonal melody, which is then evaluated by the aliens according to their inscrutable aesthetics. Due to their intrinsic shyness — and the limited graphical technology available to the game's designers — the aliens communicate with the player entirely in a form of semaphore code, utilizing the only visible part of their anatomy: twin antennae, protruding coyly over the edge of the aliens' "desks". There is no linear path that you must follow, making this game a new experience every time you play the game, as each new game creates a random new world to explore. labelimagesubject

Lethal Tender Froggman (Pie in the Sky Software)1993 firstpersonshooter maleprotagonist Lethal Tender's graphics are similar to those of Wolfenstein 3D. Bad boy Nick Hunter must thwart the evil Thorne Devereaux's plan to coat U.S. currency with a time delayed explosive by infiltrating his base and mowing down swarms of identical nameless guards. Shoot guards, collect colored keys to open doors, pick up more powerful weapons — you know the drill. The game does set itself apart from other shareware FPS with the addition of inventory screen, some inventive level design, and some semblance of plot development. labelimagesubject
The Adventures of Down Under Dan Guild Soft (Power Vision)1994 clickadventure earth maleprotagonist oceania Oy, mate! Travel through Australia and experience its culture in this comical adventure as you guide bush pilot "Down Under Dan" after he crash lands his plane in an unknown area. The game takes place in the span of 4 virtual days in which Dan encounters colourful locations, animals and characters (voiced in full speech) on a quest for blue opals in the outback where he might end up rich.

The game has photorealistic settings and uses digitized video animations. It has a standard adventure game inventory using Dan's backpack where appropriate items must be gathered and used in the correct place and manner. It also holds hints - the more you play, the more you can view.

Mission Supernova author1994 clickadventure maleprotagonist This is a shareware adventure in German. The player is "Horst Hummel", the spaceship's chef de cuisine. Usually this would be a job without much stress, but when you wake up, the whole crew is gone. You're alone on board. The game is a classic point & click adventure. It features a verb-based interface very similar to early LucasArts games, e.g. Zak McKracken or Maniac Mansion. Like in those games, gameplay mainly consists of exploring rooms/scenes, collecting various items and solving puzzles. Some items can be combined to form new items, and most of the puzzles require clever use of collected things. From time to time, talking to other characters is also necessary, which involves choosing among different dialog options. Some scenes have a time limit, and it is also possible to die or get stuck in various ways. Scenes are rather static, there is no scrolling in rooms. The main character itself is not visible in game, somewhat similar to Myst, although the perspective is not really first-person. You can interact with items at the other side of the room without actually moving there. It's split into two episodes. Teil 1: Das Schicksal des Horst Hummel was available for free, whereas Teil 2: Der Doppelgänger had to be ordered for money (shareware model). Both episodes were made freeware in 2002.***The game splits into two parts. The first one was offered as shareware program and if registered you got access to the second part as well. Eventually both parts were offered as freeware for download. The first part was kinda nice for a non-commercial adventure game, but the second part really annoyed me with a pyramid maze, a sliding puzzle (I doubt it had a parity check) and other nasty puzzles where I gave up (even with a walkthrough). labelimagesubject

A good wizard completely deck-out for battle just happened to be watching over the peasant while standing in a tiny boat in a nearby water (hmmm), and foiled the kidnapping. The High Council knows of the group responsible but not the reason, nor why they have such a specific target. The unremarkable present is charged to investigate and stop them.

Individual item skill is gained by using said item. Spells can be learned. For battle, commands are selected and the player then clicked on the target. There is a great deal of talking to be done to complete the investigation. There are many puzzle to be solved. All done with the mouse or keyboard shortcuts.

Conceived as a complex real-time adventure game with dialog and combat but with contrastingly simplified interface that is still "more than click-click-click". It does not take place in the same Universe as the main Wizardry series and gameplay has nothing in common with the main Wizardry series (even critics who loved the game gave it poor ratings for calling it "Wizardry").***
