Deus Ex  Eidos Interactive (Ion Storm)20002007-03-29 on Steam; GOTY edition (lang: eng)***This GAME OF THE YEAR EDITION of the smash hit Deus Ex features an all-new multiplayer mode and a new head-to-head deathmatch mode. Also included is a software development kit, so you'll be able to create both single and multiplayer missions from scratch, as well as modify existing ones.

The year is 2052 and the world is a dangerous and chaotic place. Terrorists operate openly - killing thousands; drugs, disease and pollution kill even more. The world's economies are close to collapse and the gap between the insanely wealthy and the desperately poor grows ever wider. Worst of all, an ages old conspiracy bent on world domination has decided that the time is right to emerge from the shadows and take control. No one believes they exist. No one but you.

* Real role-playing from an immersive 3D, first-person perspective. The game includes action, character interaction and problem solving.
* Realistic, recognizable locations. Many of the locations are built from actual blueprints of real places set in a near future scenario.
* A game filled with people rather than monsters. This creates empathy with the game characters and enhances the realism of the game world.
* Rich character development systems: Skills, augmentations, weapon and item selections and multiple solutions to problems ensure that no two players will end the game with similar characters.
* Multiple solutions to problems and character development choices ensure a varied game experience. Talk, fight or use skills to get past obstacles as the game adapts itself to your style of play.
* Strong storyline: Built on "real" conspiracy theories, current events and expected advancements in technology. If it's in the game, someone, somewhere believes it.
[Valve - GOTY edition]***If there's a thing that doesn't make sense, then it's the early sound cutoff bug this game has on my system. After trying solutions that work in every other game, I found on a forum that switching to sw rendering and back to D3D fixes it temporarily, and it did, even OpenGL rendering didn't have it. But both of those had some other issues I didn't want so I kept looking. Until I switched off vsync, and behold, sound clipping is gone. Fine and dandy with me, except it doesn't make slightest bit of sense. Video card setting that releases the framerate synchronization with screen refresh and allows the game to render more frames somehow allows the game to play the voice overs to the end. Other people have had similar issues with the game and all with different solutions, but those other solutions actually made sense.***Latest version: 1.112fm (as of 2001-04-28?), 1.4 for French

UFO: Aftershock  Cenega;Tri Synergy (ALTAR Interactive)2005missing images: indoors tactical mission***destructible environment - easily goes unnoticed as you require some heavy firepower to accomplish this and it tends to bug more often than not, so it isn't very useful. The most common way for this to bug is when a door is destroyed, making the doorway unusable for some mystical reason, often trapping your squad somewhere. I've yet to see a case where this actually opened a path for the units to move through (they can shoot through the broken wall sections, though).
irregular grid / spheroid world - the "geoscape"***The game grows increasingly unstable towards the end (even with the latest 1.2 version) with some strange issues in enemy placements, even introducing impossible scenarios at some points (enemies outside the map).***Minimum system requirements:

[Cenega]***After the alien invasion, the Council of Earth successfully fought the Reticulans and moreover discovered their secret plan: to cover the Earth with "Biomass", a network of alien organic tissue that, the Reticulans hoped, would become conscious and endowed with immense psychic powers. The Reticulans who invaded the Earth are not true representatives of their kind, they are a breakaway faction that burned the bridges and chose this backwater part of space to conduct its experiments.

The Reticulans would construct a large satellite (several kilometres across) with a closed ecosystem and move the remnants of human population there. The experiment with the Biomass would go on on the surface. Then something went horribly wrong...

UFO: Afterlight takes us to Mars, where a human colony has been built with the help of the Reticulans not long before the events of [game=#155167]UFO: Aftershock[/game] took place. Mars base is self-sustainable and provides all the necessities for survival of humans on a foreign planet, mainly breathable air, water and food. Although the people inhabiting this colony have the technologies and knowledge required for their further development, basic survival is their major concern. Their only activity is the research of a nearby excavation site, which proves the existence of an ancient intelligent and highly developed alien civilization.

The player will enter the game when the research drastically affects all Mars inhabitants. New and unexpected enemies appear in the form of robots, built centuries ago by the unknown aliens for their protection, whose purpose is to eliminate any traces of other civilizations on Mars.

Humans on Mars now have a good reason for their own development, even though not knowing yet that the planetary self-defense mechanism might not be the worst awaiting them, and that their unintentional opening of hyperspace gates will bring an even bigger enemy right to their door. After all attempts to contact the Earth Laputa fail, the colonists are left with no other choice than to fight the enemies with their own means, or be annihilated.

Command & Conquer 3: Kane's Wrath  Electronic Arts (EA Los Angeles)2008Far more enjoyable to play than the base CnC3 in my experience, and the difficulty options actually work properly in this. In terms of story, Kane's Wrath is sort of a filler, covering things between second and third tiberium wars, clarifying some events of third tiberium war and shows part of the events leading to CnC4. If anyone is ever interested in CnC3, then this is the only reason to get it, besides following the story of Kane (Tiberium series) if you're into that sort of thing. Thisis also very much focused on mutliplayer experience as the story only allows you to play with Nod and its sub-factions and only cursorily demonstrating the new sub-factions for GDI and Scrin.***In the name of Kane! The Command & Conquer™ series continues to thrive with Command & Conquer™ 3: Kane’s Wrath. Backstory
2051. The world has become consumed by the ever rising tide of the global population flood. Fertile land has been reclaimed by rising oceans and expanding deserts, resulting in famine and poverty on an unprecedented scale. Water is now mankind's most precious resource, and conflict erupts wherever it flows.

Only one bubble of the old capitalist world survives. The Queen of the World is the largest ship ever to grace the oceans, a colossal city at sea where the wealthy elite live in exile from the chaos which surrounds them. Onboard this stateless paradise the Five Founding Fathers set about pursuing their Cornucopian research unimpeded.

The contempt of the outside world is offset by NanoCell Corporation, one of the five, who promise to develop nano-technology to purify sea water at the molecular level and make the deserts bloom with the food of the world. But as they move closer to their goal, the bitterness of fanatical Malthusians grows.

The so called 'Neo Malthusians' timed their attack perfectly. 9.8 billion watched as they recast hope as hatred, following a prophecy to commit global genocide; drowning the planet with blood as they slash the worlds population to a mere half billion 'righteous souls'. A prophecy they will soon find themselves in a position to fulfill.

Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare  Activision (Sledgehammer Games;Raven Software)2014In short: great graphics in a bland FPS format.

Vanilla modern CoD (perks + red screen) with nothing new to offer, except for dashing/double jumping and some techie weapons and abilities (that drain a power bar from their use), and a "grenade launcher" that is only a visual quirk to the average classic grenade. Anyways, if you go for jumps and platforming try Titanfall (you can try it for free on Origin with Game Time, and its better in level design and vertical combat), and if you like futuristic gadgets and customization try Ghost Recon Phantoms (F2P crafted for real multiclass playing and more interesting and versatile special skills)
At least displays many different multiplayer modes.

Also includes two co-op modes:
*Exo Defense: a co-op PvE mode, where the players fight waves of soldiers.
*Exo Zombies: a "zombie mode", featuring a mixture between survival and area defense in the way that started Call of Duty: World at War.
