About Rambo: First Blood Part II

In this shooter, players can move in 8 directions but can only aim left, forward, diagonally forward, and right. Enemies can move and aim in 8 directions. In each stage players must shoot their way to the end gate and shoot enemies until the gate opens. Completing a stage earns and extra life. Players' M-60 machines guns never run out of ammo and are mostly useful against enemies on foot. Players have a limited supply of explosive arrows for tougher enemies, such as tanks and also for demolishing prison huts (freeing the POWs inside). Both players can earn extra lives for themselves. But the game ends if either player losses all their lives, but only after stage 2. In stage 1, the second player has infinite continues. Players can earn powereups by freeing POWs they find and by killing a pre-set number of enemies. But, only one powerup will appear on-screen at one time. Powerups include fast shots, fast movement, more arrows, explosive arrow upgrade, and mystery powerups that may kill everything on-screen or add an extra life. In addition, every powerup always adds an arrow. There is no practical limit to the number of arrows a player can carry, but a limited number of circumstances generate extra arrows (collecting infinite arrows is not possible). Each player begins with 5 arrows and the on-screen indicator will continue to show "9" as long as the player holds 9 or more. Some aspects of the game were dumbed-down for Americans.

The Australian release also did not use the Rambo license and is title "Secret Command" on the packing and "Secret Commando" on the title screen.

The Player 2 character is "Zane", who wares a yellow headband and exist nowhere in the Rambo franchise except this game.
