Personal review

It was a clone of Avenger 1975. Taito was taken to court by Electra, but they agreed to market it.
It has small hardware differences, according to analysis of specialized pages. In terms of gameplay, Taito's control turned out to be smoother and more controllable.

Description

Avenger is a top-down, scrolling shoot 'em up in which the player controls a fighter jet and must shoot down incoming enemy fighters. The player flies forward and can move the jet with a joystick. The enemies enter the screen from the top along with a scrolling layer of clouds. The player has an afterburner button to increase speed. Depending on the amount of enemies shot down the player receives a rating (crop duster, student pilot, ace or avenger) and bonus play time is awarded.
