Return to Castle Wolfenstein  Activision (Gray Matter Interactive Studios;Nerve Software;id Software)2001One of those game that you play with the feeling of "I remember it as awesome cuz' nostalgia and such"
BUT NO, this game is still epic.

-A brutal and unforgiving AI, who knows to delude you and how to flank you, kick back grenades, use covers and retreats in a clever way, and even how to use the environment to kill you.

-Variety: from run and gun missions, to incredible monsters and bosses, stealth missions and defend point situations.

-Superb level design: maps with many routes to take and even some secrets.

-A very unique blend of classical and modern FPS (weaponry from old with aiming from contemporary times)

-Zombies nazis and nazi zombies (the first ones have less meat)

-And last, an objective-based multiplayer mode (not great, but kind of unique).

GET PSYCHED!

9 of 10******World War II rages and nations fall. SS head Himmler has Hitler's full backing to twist science and the occult into an army capable of annihilating the Allies once and for all. Battling alone, you're on an intense mission to pierce the black heart of the Third Reich and stop Himmler -- or die trying. Fighting in advanced team-based multiplayer mode, you'll wage your own WWII in an all-out Axis vs. Allies contest for frontline domination.
Powered by the Quake III Arena engine, the Wolfenstein universe explodes with the kind of epic environments, A.I., firepower and cinematic effects that only a game created by true masters can deliver. The dark reich's closing in. The time to act is now. Evil prevails when good men do nothing.

[Steam Store]***Was re-released in 2004 as Platinum Edition that included the stand-alone multiplayer part Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory.***Seventh game in the Wolfenstein series.

Released in Canada and the USA. A Collector's Edition was published at the same time and came in a shiny numbered tin and included a patch and poster.

A Game of the Year package was published June 12, 2002. It included v1.33, 7 new multiplayer maps, The original [game=Wolfenstein 3D]Wolfenstein 3D[/game], a 'making of' movie, and some other behind the scenes extras such as concept art.

version 1.41 patch made available on December 4, 2002.

Uses the [game=Quake 3]Quake 3[/game] engine.

A heavily censored version was submitted for released in Germany. So much of the story was changed it was practically incoherent, even music was removed. Music! Despite the cuts, it was BPjS indexed. Technically, one can still acquire it by legal means, but practically speaking, such a classification in Germany is an effective ban.

[Apogee]***Dark War was the commercial full version published in 1995, The Hunt Begins was the Shareware version published in 1994. I've never met anyone who knows the game with the full name, just Rise of the Triad or ROTT, never anything about Dark War or The Hunt Beginning..

Source code was released in Dec 2002 and is available at 3D Realm's website.

Spear of Destiny  Apogee Software;Psygnosis;FormGen (id Software)1992Adding a way longer mission (of 21 levels) and some interesting new enemies, its a worthy expansion for Wolf:3D
Specially recommended for its bosses and for those who want more Blazkowicz action.

In the midst of the German Blitzkrieg, the Spear that pierced the side of Christ is taken from Versailles by the Nazis and secured in the impregnable Castle Wolfenstein. According to legend, no man can be defeated when he has the Spear. Hitler believes himself to be invincible with the power of the Spear as his brutal army sweeps across Europe. Your mission is to infiltrate the heavily guarded Nazi stronghold and recapture the Spear from an already unbalanced Hitler. The loss of his most coveted weapon could push him over the edge. It could also get you ripped to pieces.

Spear Of Destiny: Mission 2: Return to Danger  FormGen1994At first seems like a mere re-skin for "Spear of Destiny" of the lovers of bright blue and green textures, but it unravels as a very hard mission pack, only for the really brave.

Wolfenstein 3D  Apogee;Activision;GT Interactive (id Software)1992***A fun run-and-gun FPS (one of the pioneers of the genre) with a simple goal in mind: kill nazis.
It has not aged well (its palette is very harsh to the sight, and its control feels clunky), but still its minoic level design (filled with secrets) and its variety of levels (from the ubermensch/zombie army of mission 2 to the secret nightmare of mission 4) make it a nice title.
Its simpleness is its best virtue; nonetheless this game was made to be hard.

7 of 10, would kill mystic führers again.***Maybe it was the fact that people got to blow away Nazis. Maybe it was the sheer challenge of it all. For whatever reason, Wolfenstein 3D and Spear of Destiny, pioneered the first-person shooter genre and brought its legendary creators, id Software, worldwide notoriety and numerous awards. In fact, The Computer Gaming World Hall of Fame recognized Wolfenstein 3D as helping to shape the overall direction of the computer gaming industry.
