Anomaly 2 11 bit studios2013 Linuxlabelimageminimize
Anomaly 2 11 bit studios2013In the years following the invasion of Earth in 2018, the planet is overrun by alien machines. Humankind is on the verge of extinction. Banded together in huge convoys, they search the frozen tundra for food and supplies. Since the war, the roles have been reversed: now our species seems to be the Anomaly on a machine-controlled planet. Your convoy, Commander, is called Yukon.

Anomaly 2 is a real-time strategy game that takes the tower offense concept from Anomaly Warzone Earth to a new level. Maintaining the core concepts of the original – tactical planning and the on-field Commander to support troops in combat – Anomaly 2 introduces a number of important new features:

* Morph your troops into war mechs to discover the new face of strategy: each unit has a different mech form with various abilities to help you overcome specific combat situations.
* Engage in a multiplayer experience unique to Anomaly 2: tower defense vs. tower offense. Play as the towers and destroy the humans or lead the humans to annihilate the alien towers.
* Fight across a post-apocalyptic world in a new single-player campaign that offers a more intense strategy experience than the acclaimed original.
* Carve your own path to victory and create your ultimate battle squad. With over million tactical combinations to build your squad, your options in combat are nearly endless.
* Dive into a beautifully rendered world, thanks to the team’s new and improved visual engine:
* Experience alternative endings dependent upon your approach to enemy machines in the campaign.

Muy recomendable, una auténtico soplo de aire fresco en el tan agotado género de TD, seguramente uno de los mejores TD que existen.

Battlezone II: FleshStorm Lizard2006FleshStorm is set approximately 20 years after the events featured in the Forgotten Enemies expansion and the universe is a very different place indeed. The old empires have fallen, ground into the dust and crushed under the jackboot of terran imperialism. What little remains of the Hadean Crown is now restricted to a few small planets close to their homeworld and their once all-powerful Cerberi allies are now little more than vermin, disorganised, scattered and hunted mercilessly by EDF extermination squads. At the forefront of this ongoing war are the soldiers of the notorious Blackdog squadron their name forever blackened by their involvement with the traitorous general Braddock and project pedigree. Being a member of the Blackdogs was once considered an honour - now it's a death sentence. The Scions remain an elusive people prefering little or no contact with other races, rarely seen beyond the confines of their few colony worlds a non-aggression pact with Earth assures their safety for now. Earth itself has finally come of age, for the first time fully aware that we are not alone in a hostile universe a vast empire has been forged. All opposition has been subdued quite often in brutal fashion, but something is waiting out there. Something vast and timeless and deadly beyond imagination, a new battlezone awaits ...

Cortex Command Data Realms2012Latest version: 23 (as of 2009-05-10?)***Project started sometime around the year 2000. Windowslabelimageminimize
Cortex Command Data Realms2012 Mac OS Xlabelminimizeminimize
Cortex Command Data Realms2012Was only available as part of the 2011 Humble Indie Bundle?***In the world of Cortex Command, many humans have opted to amputate their entire natural bodies in order to prolong their lives and enable interstellar space travel. Their disembodied brains are hardly helpless, however, as they can remotely control all kinds of machines and craft through artificial interfaces.

Playing as one of these people's brains, you can quickly switch control between many different expendable bodies in order to complete otherwise dangerous tasks - all from the physical safety of your command bunker. Use these technological powers of telepathy to collect gold out of the fully destructible terrain, then purchase even more bodies and materiel with those newly acquired funds!

You can even program the crude A.I.s of your puppet army to complete simple tasks (patrolling, digging, etc.) while your attention and direct control is somewhere else. Use your accumulated forces to protect your brain, explore the world, and defeat your competition!

Story Summary
----------------------------------------
Cortex Command is set a few hundred years into the future, where the now cybernetic human race is able to travel between stars and has already met several alien civilizations.

Interstellar trade and prosperity reigns, but there is always an ever-expanding frontier to explore and exploit for precious resources. In this gold rush of galactic proportions, fantastic adventure and brutal competition awaits.

You play as the boss of a small gold mining company that has just arrived at a newly discovered Earth-like planet. The large space ship that brought you here along with many other adventurers is called a TradeStar. It acts as a massive orbital safe haven and marketplace for the fortune seekers who venture down onto the planet's surface. Your purchases of bodies, guns, and equipment are sent from the TradeStar orbiting above and delivered to you by your choice of landing craft.

However, it soon becomes clear that the planet isn't as pristine as initially thought, and you will have to quickly adapt from your humble beginnings in order to survive and ultimately discover the dangerous secrets of this alien world...

Key Features
----------------------------------------
Fully destructible environments - The gold you need to excavate is sprinkled throughout the terrain of each scene. Use special digging tools to blast your way into the dirt and debris. All the pieces of bodies and ships from your struggles will fall to the ground and permanently add to the battlefield. Get more powerful (and expensive) diggers and you can even tunnel into your enemies' bunkers from below!

In-game buying menu - At any time and place during the game, bring up a powerful menu to order new bodies and equipment, all delivered at the location and by the transport ship of your choosing. Rockets are cheaper but unreliable and harder to land. Drop ships are far more expensive but can quickly deploy entire groups of puppets onto difficult terrain. Ships and equipment returned to the TradeStar are refunded to your account.

Build your own bunker - At the start of most missions, you are able to take your time and build your own command bunker from scratch. Easily design twisting tunnels and place doors, traps, and turrets to thwart your enemies' intrusions! Pre-deploy and equip bodies in and around your installation to prepare yourself for your objectives. Don't spend too much though, or you won't have enough funds left when the mission starts!

Four-player cooperative and/or versus multiplayer - Gather your friends and plug in those game controllers! Play skirmish or campaign missions with or against up to three of your buddies. 2 vs 2, 1 vs. 3, 4 vs. the CPU - it's up to you! (rhyme intended). Flexible control settings allow you to use the keyboard, keyboard + mouse, or any generic game controller you can find and plug in.

Built-in editors and modding - Several in-game editors allow you to easily create your own stuff. The game's engine is built to make it very simple to modify and add your own content. Design your own missions, guys, ships, weapons, tools, bombs, and shields - and easily share them with your friends. Join and download some fantastic mods from the community at the Data Realms Fan Forums.

Dawn of War II  THQ (Relic Entertainment)2009It’s the 41st Millennium in the Sub-Sector Aurelia – a cluster of worlds on the edge of the galaxy – where a battle of epic proportions is about to commence. Ancient races will clash across the planets that dot this sector of space, battling for the greatest of stakes – not only for control of Sub-Sector Aurelia – but the fate of each race.

With a focus on fast-action RTS gameplay, Dawn of War II brings to life the science fiction universe of Warhammer 40,000 like never before. Experience the intimate brutality of battle as you play through your chosen race’s epic campaign. Clash with the enemies on battlefield ablaze with visceral melee and ranged combat. Lead and develop your squads from raw recruits into the most battle hardened veterans in the galaxy. Also included is The Last Stand, a co-operative game mode featuring user controlled heroes fighting waves of enemies.***Deviating a lot from the first Dawn of War, this RTS plays more like a tactical-action (Commandos) than a strategy game (even with is touches of Command and Conquer)

Pros:
-Great controls, even to seem easy to use many units in the field.
-Equipment and leveling up: brings some roleplay elements in the development of your team.
-Tyranids.
-3 game modes: campaign (Space Marines cleansing places), coop defense (pick your hero and prepare to withstands waves of enemies) and multiplayer (a mix between a hero RTS and a MOBA)

Cons:
-Too many times soldiers adopt stupid covers (like being in the two sides of a trench)

6 of 10***DoW2 is perhaps best defined as tactical RPG than strategy RPG, with RPG elements mostly covering only how good your characters are doing their stuff and the otherwise equipment based system. There's no role-playing to speak of, though.***Tagline: "Your slavery to the False Emperor ends today!"***Latest version: 2.2.0 (as of 2010-04-??)

Version history:
* 1.3.2 (2009-05-14)***Although the devs/publishers touted a lot about new approach to RTS with the title, the only thing I noticed to be truly new (for the type of RTS DoW2 is) was that your troops couldn't be killed for real. Few units (4 squads total in this case) to somewhat non-linear tactical missions have been done before, although none before in my experience are so lenient on the matter. Your squads can't be killed since only the squad leader is actually important and he can only be knocked unconscious. If all squads become unconscious, emergency evac is pulled and the squads and their leaders are back to full strength as if nothing happened. You lose the turn in the overworld meta-game with a lost battle, but that's hardly anything new. The squad leaders gain experience and level up occasioally, which can be spent on very few areas of interest, and they can be given new equipment which most of the time just makes them more powerful, resilient and generally more efficient.

Each map has several teleport beacons scattered around where squads can be re-inforced, 2 secondary objectives which can be completed, and the primary objective. These are invariably(?) placed at the 4 corners of the tactical map. You can perform multiple attacks on single turn if you perform sufficiently well in a battle, but this is usually unlikely on harder difficulty settings. Each map also holds a boss at the primary objective location who usually has 200 times (and more) as much health as the more regular units from the tougher end. On harder difficulty settings these become rather dreary as you spend most of the time resuscitating unconscious squad leaders and doing round-trips to teleport beacons for re-inforcements than actually fighting the bosses.

In conclusion, the base tactical gameplay is interesting like in any other tactical game, but all value is lost from the fact that you can practically never lose and success in missions is purely based on how well you manage to keep at least one squad conscious long enough to get the others back up, beyond that, all your great tactical plans are pointless except to reduce the number of times you need to get the squads back up.***2009-01-19 gone gold

Dreamlords Resurrection  LockPick Entertainment20082009-06-24 — [company=Lockpick Entertainment]Lockpick[/company] filed for bankruptcy; intentions are to keep Dreamlords running despite this.***Slightly more interesting than other browser-based strategy/management games, but only because you can fight real-time battles with the Windows client. The game has similar extremely slow pace other browser-based games have (unless you enjoy grinding items and such in battles, but ultimately you have to just wait). The in-game research takes hours if not days (in real-time) to complete, and gaining even one new follower takes 30 minutes (again in real-time) by default. Although you can spend real cash to speed up gaining of followers, the game world is reset occasionally (I have no idea how often, but I'd presume at least a month passes before such happens) which puts all your progress back to 0 and the battle begins anew (and research, and gaining followers, and killing the same things, etc.). I can't imagine anyone being interested in repeating that for more than 2-3 times at most, but I can't imagine people grinding their chars to level 70 or such in [game=World of Warcraft]WoW[/game] either on weekly basis, so I guess I'm not the person to ask.***Factions:

Dungeons Kalypso Media Digital (Realmforge Studios)2011A mighty hero stalks through a dark, dank dungeon making life miserable for hordes of pitiable monsters as he steals anything and everything not bolted to the floor. Been there, done that - about a thousand times? Then it is definitely time to switch sides and show that hero just who's who in the dungeon!

Assume the role of a mighty (and mighty evil) Dungeon Lord and create your own diabolical demesnes underground. Dim-witted goblin workers tremble as they await your orders and dig corridors and rooms into the rock at your command.

Heroes will visit your dungeon in search of battle and treasure. Naturally, you could always just annihilate them with a snap of your fingers. But isn't it more entertaining and deliciously evil to watch them attain their heart's desire - and then take take it ALL away?

So throw them a few treasures and some equipment, give them a couple of fights for entertainment and cherish and look after them. And once they are finally happy enough - it's time for the "harvest". For happy heroes have more valuable soul energy for you to gleefully extract from them in your prison or torture chamber!

But even though these self-proclaimed warriors for the good are not much more than an excellent source of resources for you, you still should not underestimate them. If you've beaten up too many of their friends, the powerful and vindictive Champions will occasionally make their way to your Dungeon. Perhaps a small sum could persuade them to forget their moral and ethical principles for once?

In addition to the heroes, you should also always keep an wary eye on the underground. For the competition never sleeps, and other Dungeon Lords would like to claim your territory for themselves. As if that were not enough, another Dungeon Lord lives one level below you who, to top it all off, is also your boss and bombards you with useless tasks! Of course, it goes without saying that malicious and sneaky beings such as yourself are already hard at work trying to take his place!

Story
The game revolves around Deimos, foremost of all Dungeon Lords. He falls victim to a devious plot hatched by his vile, nasty, thoroughly vicious ex-girlfriend Calypso, and suddenly finds himself at the bottom of the hierarchy and the top of the dungeon once again.

As the story proceeds Deimos tries to regain his old place and have his well-deserved revenge on Calypso. First, however, he will have to deal with his new bosses. On the one hand , there's the Zombie King, who is about as intelligent as your average undead zombie is likely to be, and on the other there's hot-blooded Minos, who likes to solve problems using violence or, alternatively, more violence.

Key features:
* Be insidious! Three different Boss Monsters await in order to give you a real hard time. Get rid of them to become the one and only Dungeon Lord!
* Get ready for a fight! 10 different classes of heroes dare to enter your dungeon where 15 different monsters lurk in the dark
* The 17 campaign missions demand your whole cunningness as evil dungeon lord. If you manage to survive them there's still the custom game waiting for you.
* In a dungeons there's only one way: going down. 3 different levels wait to be conquered by you.
* Prison cells and torture chambers are ready for your command and await "customers"
* Create the dungeon of your dreams with 50 different objects
* Wimpy goblin workers await your commands and create the dungeon after your wishes.***I'd claim this is [game=#164254]Dungeon Keeper 3[/game] if I didn't know better.

A vague cross over of Dungeon Keeper 2, Overlord, and some obscure tower defense where you yourself need to kill all the foes personally.

Perhaps best way to describe Dungeons is that it's a Theme Park of Evil where everyone who is enjoying themselves (too much) or is trying to leave gets killed. Everything you build is to entertain the heroes while making sure they die before they leave or are completely satisfied (in which case some heroes just use town portal spell and disappear before you can intercept their escape).

Now, humans are pretty much the sole (sentient) species in the whole universe, except in this little corner of it that still remains outside of their control - and where the game incidentally takes place. And it still continues.***Latest version: 1.044 (as of ?)***Recommended:
* Windows 2000, XP, XP64 or Vista
* 2.5 GHz Pentium IV or Athlon CPU
* 1 GB RAM
* 256 MB VRAM
* GeForce FX 6600 or Radeon X1600 GPU
* 2.5 GB HD space***Three thousand years in the far distant future after what was believed to be the arrival of "The Savior", Mankind has carved a bloody path across the known Universe.

Considering themselves a divine race and beyond reproach as a species, they view all alien races as inferior.

Those that do not bend and acknowledge the infinite superiority of the Human genome are subsequently punished or simply destroyed.

This dominion over almost all sentient life forms was only attainable through the creation and exploitation of the ‘organids' – genetically designed organic technology, easily adaptable to any enemy strategy through the introduction of seeds into the blank genetic makeup of these living machines.

The governing body directing the initiative is "The Chair of Three" on which the representatives of three Human factions reside: The Military, the Church and the Judicature.

Only one part of the Universe remains unconquered: The galaxy where the Universal Heart; an enigmatic entity that spawned all life and matter into the universe, is hidden. At least, that's what the Chair of Three believes.

As Captain Iconah, you have been commissioned to uncover the location and purpose of the Heart. A battle-hardened fleet commander and a brilliant genetic designer, you must follow in your father's footsteps; quelling the alien insurgences, outsmarting pirate cohorts and uncovering the lost galaxy and the secrets hidden within.

The fate of Humankind rests on the path you choose; take command and lead your fleet to a glorious destiny and ensure the survival of the species!

Nexus – The Jupiter Incident Vivendi Universal;HD Interactive (Mithis Entertainment)2004I'm still surprised by this title and it is one of my all-time favourites (even among the favorites). The first (and still the only) tactical starship game I've played, and I haven't seen any others come up since or before. Realistic starship physics - no constant propulsion when they're moving, only acceleration and deceleration - which is amazingly rare in games even these days (and certainly not in the mainstream games). Unusual - if not exactly impressive - story despite its few lackluster elements. Even the graphics look a lot better than in games made several years later, despite the fact it was made for inferior hardware that ran it quite well. All-in-all this is an undeservingly unappreciated among space simulation/strategy games with barely anyone even having heard of it.***Minimum:

* Pentium III 1 GHz CPU
* 128 MB RAM
* GeForce 2 GPU
* 1.4 GB HD space

Innovative and groundbreaking, it is a real-time mission-based tactical space game featuring spectacular real time battles and breathtaking motion picture quality. Focus on tactics and action as you control up to a dozen battleships encountering aliens, unknown solar systems and astrophysical phenomena in your struggle to save Earth.

At the dawn of the 22nd century the conquest of space and the colonization of the solar system is being monopolized by several huge and ambitious megacorporations. Although extremely delicate and vulnerable, a balance is maintained by these companies. It has now been 60 years since the terrible catastrophe that befell Noah's Ark, the first colony ship of mankind.
At the very edge of the solar system the companies make a discovery which will shift the technological advantage and upset the balance. And so a new conflict is born: "The Jupiter Incident". You are Marcus Cromwell, a young but already famous captain. With your legendary spaceship Stiletto you find yourself in the middle of the conflict.

"Nexus – The Jupiter Incident" is what we call a TFS: a Tactical Fleet Simulator. It's like nothing you've played before. The strong, elaborate story takes you from mission to mission and allows different approaches. It's up to you which tactics you choose to bring each mission to a good end. A reward system enables you to repair, upgrade and enhance your ships depending on the approach you chose. Mission briefings let you roam through an unbelievably accurate 3D animated star map system.

Are you ready to take on the challenge...?

In the early 19th century a group of elite scientists formed around brilliant mathematician Jarvis Babbit. Together they formed a secret society dedicated to seeking out parallel worlds, worlds of which our ancestors had only the vaguest of ideas and whose very existence had never been proven.

After decades of study Babbit finally does manage to uncover the secrets of the dimension gates. A mechanical computer of his own design allows him to calculate both where and when a dimension gate between the worlds will open. And so did Babbit and his followers discover the ParaWorld, a world of warlike tribes, awe-inspiring dinosaurs and other terrifying primeval creatures.

The new-found ability to travel between the worlds gives members of this secret society possibilities hitherto unknown: governed by an entirely different set of natural laws, ParaWorld affects them much as the fabled fountain of youth. These scientists age no more.

Yet three young scientists stumble onto the secret: hot-tempered geologist Anthony Cole, nature-loving biologist Stina Holmlund and the somewhat introverted physics genius Béla Andràs Benedek. All three have come across evidence pointing to the existence of a parallel world in the course of their research.

A perifdious trick allows Babbit to lure the three young scientists into a trap which leaves them stranded on ParaWorld. Ill-equipped, they have nothing but one weapon capable of guaranteeing their survival – their own power of reason.

... the clock is ticking ...
