The King's mines are set in a large magical sphere and are worked by prisoners captured from across the kingdom. And it is into this sphere that you are thrown, charged with the task of delivering a letter – a letter that might just mark the turning point in the war against the Orcs. The Gothic world is constantly changing and evolving: events will occur that can alter the relationships between several groups of characters. NPCs are fully rounded with their own daily habits and relationships: they get up, work, go to bed, chat with each other and so on. More significantly, monsters cooperate with each other and are able to figure things out; they have individual perception. Some can be lured with food or noise, some will run away from bright light. Some can only hear or detect movement. Each character has the ability, with the correct training, to improve particular skills as the game progresses: training with the master of the sword, for example, will result in a character displaying noticeably more skilled swordsmanship. It is so much more satisfying to witness the effect of the skills you have learnt when they are visible in your character as oppose to a meaningless number rating, improving say, from 8 to 10. These 'optical' improvements are for the whole range of skills included in Gothic. Stonekeep	Interplay (Interplay Productions)	1995	Latest version: 1.2 (as of ?)*[b]sorcery[/b] - requires a magic staff onto which you inscribe combinations of magic runes that produce various effects, modified by meta runes and so forth (in the tag's grey area) --- averted ambidextrous - has no significant gameplay effect. simply determines which mouse button activates it and which hand on the screen uses it. ergo, this is primarily a graphical gimmick. no way to swap handedness without dragging and dropping the tools between hands.The scan of the box art is flawed only because my scanner can't really scan the hologram on it (I'm not sure any scanner can). You can see this rainbowy thing behind and around the front skeleton and another skeleton in the rainbow, but in reality it should be silvery/chrome-white and the second skeleton barely visible.Immerse yourself in an epic experience more powerful and realistic than anything you've imagined. Warhammer: Shadow of the Horned Rat	Mindscape	1995	This was and still is the most challenging tactical game I've ever played. You lead your little army through the missions you pick, losses carrying over to the following missions and you restoring and buying new squads every once in a while between missions with your limited funds. There's no base building, no super powers, only your squads and the massive forces against you. Although you may get past a mission, your losses may easily be too great to allow progressing any farther (and this may become apparent only after several missions). This leads to much frustration if you can't change your tactics to match in the earlier missions and effectively leads focus on minimizing your losses rather than just meeting the mission goals.
