Breath of Fire II  Capcom1994Incorporating the same adventuring viewpoint and battle interface that made the original Breath of Fire so popular, Breath of Fire II became an instant favorite among RPG fans when it was released for the Super NES back in 1995. Breath of Fire II features four new fighting formations, which allows for greater control and strategy in battle. Adding even more depth to the series, players can combine their party members with Shamans to create enhanced characters.***Featuring a wide range of characters and personalities and a vast, endless world to explore, Breath of Fire II is the sequel to the original smash-hit role-playing game. In a world set 500 years after the previous installment, in a frontier village known as Gate, the father and sister of a young boy known as Ryu are suddenly abducted. Strangely, all the villagers appear to have completely forgotten everything about the incident, and Ryu has instantly become an orphan. At a church, Ryu meets Bow, another orphan in a similar predicament, and they slip away from town together to begin their adventure. Take advantage of the multiple game-play viewpoints found in the game (such as the quarter-view perspective during battles that made the original game so popular) to use exciting abilities like shaman fusing and dragon transformations and help these two heroes complete their mission.***This is a traditional RPG, and doesn't really do anything drastically different from other games in the genre with the battles. Enemy encounters occur at random while you are walking on the overworld, or when you're going through an area such as a tower or a cave. By looking at your menu, you are able to get a rough idea about how many random battles there are likely to be in the particular area you are in. Though they occur more at some areas than others, there will be many enemies to fight. This can become frustrating, particularly when you are in a confusing area or maze.***Another classic RPG that was butchered by Nintendo during translation. An unofficial translation with improved graphics and cosmetic modifications is being worked on here (they also have a completed German translation):

Catch'em Global Software1992Jeff the Zookeeper isn't too good at his job (but then, when was a person with a backwards baseball cap ever good at anything (Lleyton Hewitt notwithstanding)). Hordes of monkeys have escaped from the zoo, and he must return them, alive. He does this by tempting them with bananas, of which he has a finite supply, before hitting them with a baseball bat to stun them (logically, tranquillizer darts would make more sense, but this way the game involves getting close to the monkeys, making things tougher), before boxing them up (again, the number of boxes is limited) to return safely to the zoo.

The levels on which this must be done consist of a number of platforms, ladders, ledges and the like, and are played against a time limit. Falls stun Jeff, potentially allowing the monkeys time to escape, or drop banana skins to disrupt him.***

As the story goes, Donkey Kong kidnaps a beautiful girl and Mario runs to the rescue. To reach the girl, however, Mario must avoid Donkey Kong's barrels, fireballs, and bouncing rivets. Coconuts  Telesys;Beagle Brothers1982Stanley must dodge the coconuts being dropped by the monkey. If his umbrella is hit, he'll still be protected by his hat. If his hat is hit, he has no protection left. If he's hit with no protection, game over. At both 500 and 1500 points, Stanley can earn a lost item of protection. The monkey must rest occasionally, and will not start throwing coconuts again until provoked by Stanley's movement (press the joystick button). Each round goes faster than the last. Points are scored points for each coconut dodged. Advanced difficulty means Stanley moves slowly. With Beginner difficulty he's faster.

Players take turns losing protection in two player mode. There is not interaction between players.

"Beagle Brothers" is a mysterious label that many Atari cartridges have that are not produced by the similarly named "Beagle Bros". It may be a pirate operation, but this is unknown. Coconuts is one such game available with the Beagle Brothers label.

CrossFire author2001A fantasy medieval themed MORPG with a set of races and classes similar to angband and nethack. There are multiple graphical clients to chose from that will show more information than text based clients (stacks of objects on the floor for instance). Use of text remains heavy in all clients and more closely follows a the example of text adventure interpreters than simple commands. Players will need to converse with NPCs. But many typed commands are simple as well and players can bind any command to a keystroke. Also, there are a variety of shortcuts that can be preformed with the mouse. The adventures provided really depend on which server the player chooses to play on. Most servers allow multiple characters and they remain attached to the server where they were created. Initially there was no gender option provided but version 1.10 added this option. Many servers continue to use the monogender mode. Generally servers include a tutorial map, several interlinked preset maps, and attached maps that are randomly generated within a set or constrictions (themed dungeons). Players find a public bed (or buy their own real estate to place a bed in) to sleep until they want to return to the game, which is a quit-save. Any items they left lying around may be stolen, but their inventory and their character are safe when sleeping. A variety of locked storage, security systems, guard animals, or guard NPCs are available for things that just won't fit into inventory. Maid NPCs are also an option. Player vs player is decided per server. The game allows for servers to have PvP zones and for players to mutually agree to PvP (outside of zones). But absolute prevention of PvP is apparently technically impossible for anyone determined to circumvent the safeguards as sings repeatedly warn players that PvP is forbidden in places where technical limitation are already in place. There is an extensive skills system as well. Skills increase by using them. For instance, read a book that is within your literacy skill level and you will ear literacy experience points. This only works once per book, btw. There is no combat mode. Attacks are in real time. While characters can have all manor of attacks at their disposal, all melee attacks are done without visual feedback. Text feedback is given instead. Ranged attacks show the projectile, but are otherwise identical to each other as melee attacks are.

Find towers and dungeons. Hack up monsters. Gather loot. Sell loot. Practice skills. Repeat.

For POSIX/X11 and/or GTK systems. Confirmed to run on Ubuntu and IRIX. RPM available.

[27]***An expansion and reinvention of the Nintendo classic! Donkey Kong for the Game Boy starts the player in familiar territory as Mario travels through the four original arcade stages. Once those are over, it's a whole new game! Aside from the classic arcade action of the original, Mario must now do a little puzzle-solving in his quest to save Pauline. In each level, he must get the key at one part of the stage into the locked door at another in order to follow his primate foe, but this is a lot harder than it sounds; Mario has to build platforms, unlock gates, dodge enemies, and more to get from point A to point B. Luckily, this time around, he has a few new tricks, including a backflip to avoid danger, a handstand to block falling barrels and flip him into a high jump, and the ability to toss objects around. The classic hammer is back to help him clear his way, too! Collect Pauline's hat, purse, and parasol to reach a bonus stage and earn some more lives. A huge number of stages will keep players busy for quite some time, but don't worry; there's a save feature now too! If you're a Game Boy owner and you like platforming and/or puzzle games, you have no excuse not to own this.

Donkey Kong Coleco1982NO, It was created by Nintendo, who authorized Coleco to make reproductions under its license, in an entire legal framework that is absolutely registered, which is why Coleco always presented its version of Donkey Kong, under the Nintendo license.

It can be argued who manufactured the catridge, or ported the programming from one system to another, but in terms of creation and development, it is purely Nintendo's.

"The difference is that manufacturing is more repetitive steps to have some product over and over again. Software Development is more about creating things almost new, each product is different for each custome"***The little man that you control in-game was originally named Jumpman and was latter renamed to the Mario that you know today. Donkey Kong Atari1983Released in the arcades in 1981, Donkey Kong was not only Nintendo's first real smash hit for the company but marked the introduction of two of their most popular mascots: Mario (originally "Jumpman") and Donkey Kong.

Donkey Kong is a platform-action game that has Mario scale four different industrial-themed levels (construction zone, cement factory, an elevator-themed level, and removing rivets from girders) in an attempt to save the damsel in distress, Pauline, from the big ape before the timer runs out. Once the rivets are removed from the final level, Donkey Kong falls, and the two lovers are reunited. From there, the levels start over at a higher difficulty.

Along the way, Mario must dodge a constant stream of barrels, "living" fireballs, and spring-weights. Although not as powerful as in other future games, Mario can find a hammer which allows him to destroy the barrels and fireballs for a limited amount of time. Additionally, Mario can also find Pauline's hat, purse, and umbrella for additional bonus points.

Donkey Kong is also notable for being one of the first complete narratives in video game form, told through simplistic cut scenes that advance the story. It should also be noted that in many conversions of the original coin-op game for early 1980's consoles and computer systems, Donkey Kong only used two or three of the original levels, with the cement factory most often omitted.******RX8031 16k cartridge. 3 common variations of this game exist.
