A.E. | Brøderbund | 1984 | There is some mystery if this game's development was overseen by Atari or Broderbund. It was not announced in catalogs and no internal documents mention it. One of the two North America NTSC prototype cartridges seems ready for release and can be found on multicarts. The control is unique, pressing the fire button launches your missiles and releasing it detonates them. A detonation is fairly large and destroys anything in the area (sorta like missile command). Also unique, the 3D backgrounds are slowly rendered before each level. [Zerothis] | Atari 5200 | labelimageminimize |

Angry, Drunken Dwarves | author | 2004 | This is a verses action puzzle requiring quick reflexes, strategy, and memory. The mechanics are kind of like Dr. Mario with the virus and pill roles reversed. Gems drop in pairs. Adjacent gems will join into larger crystals. A breaker gem will destroy all gems and crystals of the same color that are touching eachother. Destroying gems creates attacking counter gems that drop on you opponent. These counter gems can't be destroy by breaker gems until they are done counting down. There is the rare diamond that destroy an entire color at once. You can partially or completely nullify an attack by sending the an attack at an opponent at about the same time with about the same gems and crystals. Each dwarf has an attack pattern that can be memorized to aid in timing attacks and counter attacks. Also some patterns are inherently more difficult to deal with. In two player Dwarf Vs. Dwarf games, players can choose weak or strong characters and they can be evenly matched or not. In one player arcade mode, the player battles each AI controlled, progressively stronger character in succession. In both modes, the matches are designed to be relatively short for this style of game. A player must win 2 of 3 matches for a victory. [Zerothis] | Linux | labelimagesubject |

Ankh II: Heart of Osiris | Runesoft (DECK13 Interactive;Telltale) | 2007 | Osiris is back! And this time he's in no mood for games. This time he will not fail. This time Osiris will show the world of humans what, he's made of. But the Ankh alone is not enough - not as long as he hasn't found the most important part of his body: his heart. Life has not been kind to Assil. Only three weeks ago he managed to ward off his death curse. Since then his relationship (with Thara) has hit the rocks and the Ankh was stolen from him (by sinister assassins). Assil sets out to get it all back - and to once again face Osiris. He is not the only victim, however - there is another: the pharaoh! One moment he sits on his throne, lazy, sluggish and with a heck of a hangover, the next he is a slave in his own quarry - how could this have happened? And more importantly: how is he going to get out of this without getting killed? Ankh: Heart of Osiris is even more intense and more bizarre as it takes the player even deeper into the crazy world of old Cairo. You'll meet a lot of familliar faces, but of course there are plenty of new surprises too! Aside from familliar locations, like the bazaar, there will be plenty of new locations for the player to explore - such as the quarry and the large arena with all its dark, convoluted catacombs. And of course the black humour of the first game can be found in the sequel! Once again, old Egypt and its inhabitants are turned upside down and given a good seeing to. Features: - Classic adventure game - A completely new and zany story in new, strange and fascinating locations - A brand new exciting story - Get to know new characters and familiar faces - Sophisticated graphics with dynamic light, shadow and glow effects - supreme voice acting - Cinematic full-motion sequences - and, as always, pitchblack humour | Linux | labelminimizesubject |
