Harmonia Baroque Creations2012What is Harmonia?

Harmonia is an online tactical RPG, a fusion of the real-time strategy and roguelike genres. Think Shining Force + Warcraft + Nethack. Players command forces of one or more heroes and collaborate (or clash) as they battle, conquer, and explore.

Control a Band of Characters

Blending the social engagement of an MMO with the strategic interplay of a turn-based strategy game is no simple task, but that is the goal of the Harmonious engine. Gameplay will have the feel of an RTS like Starcraft but with greater emphasis on effective maneuvering and use of of individual units' skills. Though it is possible for players to adventure alone, they will quickly find that many areas cannot be traversed with a mere handful of units, and they must join forces to overcome the enemies that await them.

Eight Playable Classes

A force consists of characters composed from eight classes or mercenaries awarded during quests. To defeat their opponents, players must position their forces wisely when engaging in battle - protect the Archers, keep the Warriors on guard, use Knights to disrupt enemy front lines, attack the back ranks with mobile Birdsoldiers, and successfully manage the chaos on the battlefield while the opponent does the same. Complete quests, earn money, gather equipment, and gain experience to bolster your force. Unlock new player classes like the Dragon, Robot, or Lich by completing large zones.

Fully Moddable

Though there will be an official server with a unique storyline, setting, and characters, the Harmonious engine is designed for modding and players and developers alike will have the ability to run their own servers with completely different elements thanks to Harmonia's built-in scripting language.

Towns SMP2012Developer Xavi Canal of SMP deemed the game complete and released it on Steam in 2012. Many fans considered the game incomplete. At the same time he turned maintenance development over to Moebius who planned to fix bugs and add features. Ben Palgi continued to do some maintenance with Moebius. Moebius was offered a profit percentage equating to much less than his usual salary for his work, but a 66% drop in sales lead to this percentage being a less than livable wage so development ceased. Open sourcing the game to achieve bug fixes and added features was discussed but rejected. Currently there are no plans for further development of Towns. A sequel with a better planned development model has been suggested and not dismissed. There was also another developer, SphaZ. SphaZ left the team early in the development but remains an avid player and fan of Towns. labelimageminimize

Knock-knock  Ice-Pick Lodge2012There is an unusual cabin deep in the woods. It had served as a laboratory and a dwelling for three generations of Lodgers.

But as of late the latest Lodger has been noticing weird changes in familiar surroundings; things are missing, noises and rattle heard. Something odd is coming out of the woods. Come night, it seems like someone's made himself at home in the twilight of rooms, attics, and cellars.

You need to stay awake and sane till dawn.

The Lodger is wandering the rooms, evading the unknown, counting minutes till morning. But it's only in the night that he can solve the main puzzle and find the answers. What's going on? Are the Guests real, or are they just figments of his insomniac imagination? What'd happened to the forest? What's happening to the cabin? Is there a line between reality and imagination?

Gameplay details

Hide! Play hide-and-seek with denizens of your nightmares.
Don't look now! The goal of each night is to reach dawn while still sane.
Fill in the gaps. The house aids the Lodger. You only have to fix it up and keep it in order.
Seek. The Lodger has lost something very important. The reason for what is happening is somewhere inside. Everything that is happening can be explained, you only need to find the key and bring it to light.
Wait. In this game you need to watch and listen carefully. Inspect and scrutinize. You only have to last until the sunrise.
Follow the rules of the game! Of course you must first understand the game being played with you.

Scope Creep  MidGames2012This is a game designed to teach useful hacking skills (rearranging computer code to make it perform more efficiently and for new purposes; not to be confused with illegal cracking which is often mislabeled hacking) in an fun 3D game context. Players will learn about Windows and GNU/Linux systems and there is a specific GNU/Linux teaching mod for the game for those curious about Linux but not as interested in hacking. Unlike some other games of it's era, SCHV does not emulate or virtual a computer system. The systems within the game are very simplified simulations, yet programmable.***Take on the role of Merl McPenrite, an ethical Hacker that unwittingly gets involved in a conspiracy far beyond his control. He will need a combination of hacking, computer, and problem solving skills to be able to get out of the mess he finds himself in. Do you have what it takes to get him out alive? labelminimizesubject

Topia Online author2013This Massive Multiplayer Online RPG aims to give all the game creation tools to the players and let them create their own content. Power to create is granted and revoked to users by other users. This is supposed to ensure no one gets to powerful. Characters are always online, even when players are not. Certain game rules are in place to protect the characters from off-line attacks but not to the point that these characters do not stop participating. Users can create minions to take care of jobs that might be classified as grinding. The developers same there is no grinding in the game (and if players grind anyhow, it is of no advantage). Advancement is gained through social interaction, not PvP. PvP is definitely allowed, but players killing players is disadvantageous. Players don't just create the forces of evil, they are the forces of evil if they so choose. Since players make the rules, slimes could seek to take over the world just as zombies, dragons, or a dark wizard might. Slimes, Molds, and Gelatonus cubes can theoretically become just as powerful as a 9-Headed Mithral-plated Crystaline-Gold Phase Dragon Lich King. Each game server begins with a randomly generated world suitable to be shaped, molded, modified, populated, and ruled by the players that enter it. Simple world building, moving trees, placing monsters, is done simply. Access to the game is a one-time payment, no subscriptions, no payment for additional content, no pay-to-win marketplace. A gains in the game use in-game currency (called influence) earned though social interaction. Players with more skills will write scripts and make the animations. These are offered in an in-game marketplace where less skilled players can buy them and perhaps modify them. Art is likewise offered. labelminimizesubject

Barista Blast author2013Barista Blast is a business simulation game (for PC, Mac, Linux, iOS, and Android) that puts YOU in control of a local café. You control everything from drink selection and advertisements, to furniture and equipment. It is designed to be accessible to all audiences. If you want to simply play the game, there are a number of recipes to start off your business with. However, if you want that fine control over each aspect of your café, you can specify the exact ingredients that go into each drink, minimizing costs and maximizing profit. That is, if you can make the drink right...
That’s right! YOU are in charge of making the drinks as well! If you mess up on a drink, your satisfaction rating plummets and your tips vanish. If you take too long when making a drink, customers will get fed up with waiting and leave (potentially convincing other customers to leave as well!). Barista Blast is all about balancing your ability to make drinks, manage customers, and maintain a business.

Shadowrun Returns  Harebrained Schemes2013The protagonist is presented multiple reasons for involvement; obligation, personal gain (currency reward), revenge, justice, duty (obligated by accepted employment). The main character is constantly presented opportunities to speak and act on a single one of these motives. However, the character sometime choose to speak deceptively (in relation to their motive) with little consequence. The different speech/action options have minor effects on profit and advancement and have make nor real difference to the overall plot. But, they may affect the availability and lack a few sidequests. Which motive truly applies really depends on how the player plays it and if they choose to stick to that motive. However, the protagonist is eventually unavoidably caught up in a mush larger conflict, though his previous motives still effect how he is involved. Though the protagonist is entangled in the larger events, there may be some coercion involved depending on how the player chooses responses too the events.***Will be released sometime after the other platforms, current (2013-04-10) estimate by developers is when the game is translated to German, French, and Italian... whatever that means in terms of actual timing was not elaborated.

Update: Was released finally on 2013-10-31.
