Ballistics comes in a DVD-style case, and is on a single CD-Rom. [Zerothis]***MSRP: £26.00 The year is 2090, and humankind has become a high tech society. Diseases are gone, and almost everyone lives a comfortable and secure life. The world is simply a stable place. But when times are calm and money is plentiful, people always start to search for entertainment to fill their everyday lives with. Extreme sports have developed and Ballistics is one of the biggest. You are one of the contenders. You are a Ballistics Pilot, ready to throw yourself headlong into the most awesome speed sensation in the world! The Ballistics races evolved from the Formula One races. The Ballistics pilots are trained from their teens and, using electronic enhancers, their reflexes are much faster than any ordinary human. Wearing G-suits like fighter pilots, they set out to race in these insane speed fests in their hunt for fame and fortune. Not only do you race through high tech scenarios, as a pro league pilot you get to travel the world and compete with other daredevils in the most spectacular tracks ever built. Rushing through settings such as the Belize jungle, the Grand Canyon, and the city center of future Houston, you are in for some serious action and challenges. The tracks are built using tunnels that allow a racing surface that is curved and twisted in any direction. The Pilots who race in these tunnels are all using Speeders. Speeders are high tech hover bikes with a magnetic repel unit keeping them floating in the air when inside the track. To be able to keep the Speeders floating, a magnetic field has been generated close to the track walls. This magnetic field, called the MF by some, will keep the Speeder in the air, or if the pilot chooses to, it will keep the Speeder attached just a few millimeters from the wall. Being a Speeder pilot has its pros and cons. The pros include fame and good old hard cash for your performance. The cons being high speed impacts with concrete walls. Each race pays a fortune, and you certainly deserve it for throwing yourself into this furious racing grind. [Zerothis] | labelimagesubject |
Iron Sky: Operation Highjump | SilverQuill (Game Studios IGIOS;LudoCraft) | 2011 | Was to be released early 2012 according to the FAQ, but nothing's been seen even by Dec 2012.***Operation Highjump is a 3rd person single player action adventure game set in the year 1945 of an alternate timeline. The game has an overhead camera, turn-based tactical combat and a branching storyline with several endings depending of player decisions along the way. Engine & platforms The game will use Unity3D engine, it'll be in 3rd person and use an overhead camera. The game will be released on PC first, but other (Unity-supported) platforms are also considered. Story A standalone prequel story in the world of Iron Sky, the plot revolves around a secret underground Nazi base on the Antarctica before the Nazis leave for the Moon. The Allied forces have practically won the WWII, the Third Reich is defeated, Hitler is dead. The Nazis were never close to victory only to be repelled on the last moment and the high command knows this, they just had immense luck to get this far. The game will be set entirely on Earth, the Moon will not be a playable area since the Nazis are still preparing for their Moon mission. The three playable characters of the game are a German-born officer and two American scouts shot down while on a mission surveying the Antarctica in preparation for Operation Highjump, a real-life military operation which took place two years later. The player characters are: Insider: A German-born officer, who used to spy for the Allies during the war. His specialties are diplomacy and his officer status, which gives him free access to many locations in the base. Soldier: An American scout who is captured alive and experimented on by the Nazis, but gets a chance to escape. Soldier's specialties are strength and combat, but he doesn't speak German which limits his communication with many characters. Unseen: Another American scout, a woman who masked his identity to be able to serve in the Army WW2. Her specialties are stealth, impersonation/disguises and good grasp of German. While all characters are originally equally clueless about the base and it's purpose, each of the character types encounters the base from a different angle and has different tools for unraveling it's mysteries and affecting the fate of its inhabitants. All three character perspectives will form a branching storyline where the characters' decisions affect each others' story. | labelminimizesubject |

Shadowrun Returns | Harebrained Schemes | 2013 | The protagonist is presented multiple reasons for involvement; obligation, personal gain (currency reward), revenge, justice, duty (obligated by accepted employment). The main character is constantly presented opportunities to speak and act on a single one of these motives. However, the character sometime choose to speak deceptively (in relation to their motive) with little consequence. The different speech/action options have minor effects on profit and advancement and have make nor real difference to the overall plot. But, they may affect the availability and lack a few sidequests. Which motive truly applies really depends on how the player plays it and if they choose to stick to that motive. However, the protagonist is eventually unavoidably caught up in a mush larger conflict, though his previous motives still effect how he is involved. Though the protagonist is entangled in the larger events, there may be some coercion involved depending on how the player chooses responses too the events.***Will be released sometime after the other platforms, current (2013-04-10) estimate by developers is when the game is translated to German, French, and Italian... whatever that means in terms of actual timing was not elaborated. Update: Was released finally on 2013-10-31. | labelimageminimize |
Papers, Please | 3909 | 2014 | Papers, Please places you in the role of a border patrol officer earning piecework pay to approve legitimate travelers through a border checkpoint the dystopian country of Arstozka. You were assigned this job via lottery. You collect your pay from the approved travelers. Approve any illegitimate travelers and you could be fined and fired. Deny any legitimate travelers and you could be fined and fired. Fail to approve and deny fast enough and you will not earn enough money to provide housing, heating, medicine, and/or food for your family. Arstozka keeps everybody on their toes by making minor changes (with major consequences) to the regulations (who can pass or not) moment to moment. Minor changes to the regulations often require reading pages of regulations to find them, which of course takes time. Also, it does not matter if the travelers are legit or not, what matters is if their paperwork meets current regulations. For Instance, 90 year old Valentina Moles can tape a photo of her 8 year old nephew to a passport. If the regulations say don't check photos, and the rest of her passport checks out, then you'd better pass her. | labelminimizesubject |
