Dunkle Schatten 2: Im Netzwerk gefangen Bundesministerium des Innern (The Art Department)1996This German adventure (which means Dark Shadows 2: Trapped in the network) is the sequel to the adventure Dunkle Schatten, also published by the German Federal Ministry of Interior as part of the FAIRSTÄNDNIS campaign against racism and violence. The game's a point-and-click adventure with an interface reminding of the later Sierra adventures. It is greatly improved over the first part as it now uses SVGA screen resolution. The story is set two years after the first. You again play as Karsten who this time has to deal with Neonazis defacing the memorial stone for a long dead, Jewish town mayor. And some classmate of his seem to be involved as he distributes Nazi computer games... labelimagesubject

Leisure Suit Larry 7: Love for Sail!  Sierra1996his game in the popular comic adult adventure series featured more fleshed-out, cartoon style graphics and full voice acting. It was the sixth installment (due to the fourth game never being completed. It was the last Larry game created by Al Lowe. After many of the Larry games had gained a reputation for not actually featuring all that much raunchy content when analysed, this installment included some much more risque elements. It was the first game since the third to pick up immediately where its predecessor left off; typically, it features Larry getting dumped by the woman who represented the ultimate goal of Larry 6, Shamara. The formula was much the same as the previous games: the "twist" was that Larry was a passenger on a cruise ship populated by parodies of famous people. Various other pop icons were parodied in the background, such as the Archie Comics gang playing nude volleyball, various incarnations of James Bond in the ship's casino, a Sierra staffer dressed as Sailor Moon, and porn icon Ron Jeremy walking around naked. The plot revolves around Larry's attempt at winning a weekly contest held on the ship by Captain Thygh, a gorgeous blonde. The player must come up with a variety of ways to cheat in each of Larry's assigned competitions so that he can get the highest score and win the contest. Among Larry's chosen competitions are a cooking contest, a "best dressed" contest, a game of horseshoes, bowling, the sexual prowess contest and others. It was also the first Larry game to include a full-fledged minigame: by collecting hidden red-and-white-striped dildos, the player could unlock high quality pin-up desktop wallpapers of the ladies in the game. Players could also "appear" in the game by placing voice samples of selected dialogue and a digitized photo in a particular directory (the default was Al Lowe).***

Nemesis: The Wizardry Adventure  Virgin Interactive (Sir-tech Software)1996Players control as an seemingly unremarkable peasant who was minding his own business when
the society of Nitherin Mages
sent a fowl beast in an attempted kidnapping. A good wizard completely deck-out for battle just happened to be watching over the peasant while standing in a tiny boat in a nearby water (hmmm), and foiled the kidnapping. The High Council knows of the group responsible but not the reason, nor why they have such a specific target. The unremarkable present is charged to investigate and stop them.

Individual item skill is gained by using said item. Spells can be learned. For battle, commands are selected and the player then clicked on the target. There is a great deal of talking to be done to complete the investigation. There are many puzzle to be solved. All done with the mouse or keyboard shortcuts.

Conceived as a complex real-time adventure game with dialog and combat but with contrastingly simplified interface that is still "more than click-click-click". It does not take place in the same Universe as the main Wizardry series and gameplay has nothing in common with the main Wizardry series (even critics who loved the game gave it poor ratings for calling it "Wizardry").***

Orion Burger Eidos (Sanctuary Woods)1996The intergalactic fast-food chain Orion Burger uses the services of an alien meat-supplier named Zlarg, who only cares for money and doesn't have much in a way of conscience. So his next genius plan is to use the inhabitants of the planet Earth, known as "humans", as a raw, protein-rich material for the tasty burgers. However, interstellar law forbids using sentient creatures as meat. Every raw ingredient has to pass specific tests for sentience. Zlarg knows it, and he rigs the tests in such a way that no creature can pass it. Enter Wilbur Wafflemeier, an ordinary guy who is about to be grilled... in more than one way. Somehow, the unlikely hero has to find a way to pass the tests...

Orion Burger is a traditional puzzle-solving adventure with cartoon-like 2D graphics. It uses verb commands "Take", "Use", and "Talk" for interaction with the environment. The game consists of five tests, each of them requiring Wilbur to explore his home town, talk to people, gather inventory items, and solve tricky puzzles in order to succeed and qualify as a sentient being.***

Toonstruck Virgin (Burst Entertainment)1996Toonstruck is a point-and-click adventure in the style of Monkey Island series. It uses a one-icon system, and the protagonist is a motion-captured actor against an animated environment.

Like an adventure game in the Roger Rabbit style. Drew Blanc, the main character, is played by Christopher Lloyd, whom you may know as the professor in Back to the Future and Fester in The Addams Family movies. He ventures through the animated world consisting of very weird cartoon characters. The land is being overrun by an evil doctor, and you, as Drew, must stop him.***
