Cyberstrip Poker Rapture Interactive1995eCyberstrip Poker is a futuristic, sci-fi themed strip poker game set in the distant future. Each player starts out with $1000, minimum bet is $5 and maximum bet is set as $100. Every time the opponent's cash reaches zero, she takes off one article of clothing, and the player is treated to a full-screen video.

The player is only allowed to discard three out of five cards in this game. There is no call button; the player has to pay attention anytime the opponent raises, and manually add the last bet and the raise amount. To fold, the player needs to reduce the bet amount to below $5 and "Fold" will appear as the amount of the bet. There is a hide/panic button (the atomic symbol looking button in the bottom right corner of the screen) which quickly launches a Macintosh-looking screen.

Genesis Rising  DreamCatcher Interactive;Akella;Nordic Games (Metamorf Studios)2007dracism/speciesism - humans were nearly wiped out because of this and returned the favor. * 2.5 GB HD space***Three thousand years in the far distant future after what was believed to be the arrival of "The Savior", Mankind has carved a bloody path across the known Universe.

Considering themselves a divine race and beyond reproach as a species, they view all alien races as inferior.

Those that do not bend and acknowledge the infinite superiority of the Human genome are subsequently punished or simply destroyed.

This dominion over almost all sentient life forms was only attainable through the creation and exploitation of the ‘organids' – genetically designed organic technology, easily adaptable to any enemy strategy through the introduction of seeds into the blank genetic makeup of these living machines.

The governing body directing the initiative is "The Chair of Three" on which the representatives of three Human factions reside: The Military, the Church and the Judicature.

Only one part of the Universe remains unconquered: The galaxy where the Universal Heart; an enigmatic entity that spawned all life and matter into the universe, is hidden. At least, that's what the Chair of Three believes.

As Captain Iconah, you have been commissioned to uncover the location and purpose of the Heart. A battle-hardened fleet commander and a brilliant genetic designer, you must follow in your father's footsteps; quelling the alien insurgences, outsmarting pirate cohorts and uncovering the lost galaxy and the secrets hidden within.

The fate of Humankind rests on the path you choose; take command and lead your fleet to a glorious destiny and ensure the survival of the species!

Now the Aeon's, a technologically superior race that once guided the lesser races, is all but lost to myth. Their colonies and technology lie beyond reach - scattered throughout the galaxy, like so many stars.

Only fading memories recall the cause of the Aeons downfall and the loss of the star-gates that ended the first Galactic War. Devoid of the means to navigate the stars, the empires of the six major races began to look inwards as communication between worlds was lost.

From the depths of the abyss, the long forgotten desire for exploration and conquest calls out once again. For it would only be a matter of time before each race would: recover the knowledge to rebuild their fleets, reawaken their desire to explore, rekindle their need to expand and return to warring ways.

As the six galactic empires make ready for the arduous struggle ahead, all manner of citizens are rallied to the cause. Scouting expeditions leave the safety of their stellar berths seeking out potential systems ripe for colonisation. Close behind terra-forming ships prepare planets for swelling populations. Throughout countless shipyards powerful battle-fleets are forged from newly acquired resources, ready to face the threats that emerge with every cycle of the sun. A new age has arrived.

The Age of Immortals has descended upon the fledging empires of the known galaxy. Will you dominate or be destroyed?

X³: Terran Conflict  Deep Silver (Egosoft)2008cAs a expansion/remake of X3: Reunion, improves a lot its interface and controls (now its a little complex but very user-friendly) and adds a few interesting campaigns (the previous game was heavily war-oriented in gameplay) Also, the graphics are nicer.
Nevertheless, it still features clunky message and mission systems, making it only a little better than the original game.

4 of 10***X³: Terran Conflict is a brand new, stand-alone game set in the universe of X³. It is the culmination of the X trilogy, with a grand finale that takes us all the way back to Earth's own solar system. Gamers can take on the roles of different characters in the X universe, or of a Terran military pilot, and experience a multitude of stories in the largest X universe ever featured - for X³: Terran Conflict will offer more missions than any other X game before. Meanwhile, X³: Terran Conflict will pose questions such as: How has Earth changed in all these years? And how will relations between Earth and its counterparts in the X universe develop?

Dawn of War II  THQ (Relic Entertainment)2009aIt’s the 41st Millennium in the Sub-Sector Aurelia – a cluster of worlds on the edge of the galaxy – where a battle of epic proportions is about to commence. Ancient races will clash across the planets that dot this sector of space, battling for the greatest of stakes – not only for control of Sub-Sector Aurelia – but the fate of each race.

With a focus on fast-action RTS gameplay, Dawn of War II brings to life the science fiction universe of Warhammer 40,000 like never before. Experience the intimate brutality of battle as you play through your chosen race’s epic campaign. Clash with the enemies on battlefield ablaze with visceral melee and ranged combat. Lead and develop your squads from raw recruits into the most battle hardened veterans in the galaxy. Also included is The Last Stand, a co-operative game mode featuring user controlled heroes fighting waves of enemies.***Deviating a lot from the first Dawn of War, this RTS plays more like a tactical-action (Commandos) than a strategy game (even with is touches of Command and Conquer)

Pros:
-Great controls, even to seem easy to use many units in the field.
-Equipment and leveling up: brings some roleplay elements in the development of your team.
-Tyranids.
-3 game modes: campaign (Space Marines cleansing places), coop defense (pick your hero and prepare to withstands waves of enemies) and multiplayer (a mix between a hero RTS and a MOBA)

Cons:
-Too many times soldiers adopt stupid covers (like being in the two sides of a trench)

6 of 10***DoW2 is perhaps best defined as tactical RPG than strategy RPG, with RPG elements mostly covering only how good your characters are doing their stuff and the otherwise equipment based system. There's no role-playing to speak of, though.***Tagline: "Your slavery to the False Emperor ends today!"***Latest version: 2.2.0 (as of 2010-04-??)

Version history:
* 1.3.2 (2009-05-14)***Although the devs/publishers touted a lot about new approach to RTS with the title, the only thing I noticed to be truly new (for the type of RTS DoW2 is) was that your troops couldn't be killed for real. Few units (4 squads total in this case) to somewhat non-linear tactical missions have been done before, although none before in my experience are so lenient on the matter. Your squads can't be killed since only the squad leader is actually important and he can only be knocked unconscious. If all squads become unconscious, emergency evac is pulled and the squads and their leaders are back to full strength as if nothing happened. You lose the turn in the overworld meta-game with a lost battle, but that's hardly anything new. The squad leaders gain experience and level up occasioally, which can be spent on very few areas of interest, and they can be given new equipment which most of the time just makes them more powerful, resilient and generally more efficient.

Each map has several teleport beacons scattered around where squads can be re-inforced, 2 secondary objectives which can be completed, and the primary objective. These are invariably(?) placed at the 4 corners of the tactical map. You can perform multiple attacks on single turn if you perform sufficiently well in a battle, but this is usually unlikely on harder difficulty settings. Each map also holds a boss at the primary objective location who usually has 200 times (and more) as much health as the more regular units from the tougher end. On harder difficulty settings these become rather dreary as you spend most of the time resuscitating unconscious squad leaders and doing round-trips to teleport beacons for re-inforcements than actually fighting the bosses.

In conclusion, the base tactical gameplay is interesting like in any other tactical game, but all value is lost from the fact that you can practically never lose and success in missions is purely based on how well you manage to keep at least one squad conscious long enough to get the others back up, beyond that, all your great tactical plans are pointless except to reduce the number of times you need to get the squads back up.***2009-01-19 gone gold

Also includes a lot of new items, ships, etc...
Sadly, the game is still very slow and frustrating because not only the mission system (almost the same, but with more chained missions that "hide" this radical flaw), but because the uncareness of the game for the player when you finish the tutorial (its difficult to encounter feasible missions or even something relevant to do)

4 of 10***X3: Albion Prelude is the latest game in the X3 space game series. TRADE, FIGHT, BUILD, THINK in a living and breathing universe. A new plot and many additions to the open free-form gameplay.

Crying Suns Humble Bundle (Alt Shift)2019aCrying Suns is a tactical rogue-lite that puts you in the role of a space fleet commander as you explore a mysteriously fallen empire. In this story rich experience inspired by Dune and Foundation, each successful run will uncover the truth about the Empire... and yourself as well.***Uses unusual graphic style that is 3D models but with unfiltered textures and with limited rotation so they often look like regular pixel graphics. There's probably some actual pixel art mixed in. labelimagesubject
