The Longest Journey  Egmont Interactive;Empire;KE Media (Funcom)1999One word: atmosphere.
Music and scenery become tangled to form a game that feels like playing a poem mixed with an oniric painting.
Puzzles are really good and also has interesting characters.
Very enjoyable.

For thousands of years, this Balance has weighted the scales of the cosmos evenly, ensuring harmony between the twin worlds.

But now, in an age of great turmoil, chaos threatens to turn the scales and bring our most terrifying dreams to life.

The Guardian of the Balance has abandoned his throne...

The armies of the Vanguard are advancing...

A storm is coming...

And the fate of the worlds is in the hands of one person.

Her name is April. She is a Shifter. The power to walk between worlds is within her grasp, and her destiny is foretold in a hundred tales. But the tides of Chaos gain momentum with every passing second, and those who would be gods will not stand idly by. How, then, can one person prevail against impossible odds...

April's future is shrouded in a veil of mystery, and the journey ahead is treacherous and winding.

A journey not only through twin worlds, but into her own heart and soul.

This is the longest journey of them all.

But there is one person capable of reuniting the two worlds: An 18-year-old girl who as yet knows nothing of her powers and her importance for both realms.

Lead this girl from the trials of everyday life into a world of fantasy, magic and battle.

Explore the realm of the fairies and learn to use your heroine's increasing powers to find the fairies and to conquer them. For these fairies shall enter the arena on your behalf, whenever goblins or other magical creatures block your path.

... an exceptional girl, barely an adult, and yet equipped with incredible powers.

Collect and train fairies to make a deck and to send the best of them out to battle your enemies.

Sudeki  Zoo Digital Publishing (Climax)2005combo moves - timed freeform three-part combination of the two attack buttons (all combinations work, producing different final hits). Consider that normal hit does some 10-20 damage and the final hit of a combo does 200, these are well worth the negligible effort (especially considering the simplest combinations seem to be the most useful).

There's a very hackish solution to this however. You need to uncompress
sudeki.cab
and
sudeki1.cab
into some folder on your harddrive and then create a .bat with the following contents.

After that, just run the .bat file. You'll get a new sub-folder named "Sudeki" which contains the game's files in their proper places (presumably). The cotents of that folder are all you need to play.***EAN-13:
5060034553434
***Latest version: patch #1 (as of 2005)***missing images: title screen, actual gameplay screens***Working title: Symphony of Light, changed because of similarity with [game=Castlevania: Symphony of the Night]Castlevania: Symphony of the Night[/game], according to Wikipedia.

Dreamfall: The Longest Journey  Aspyr Media (Funcom)20066 years after the critically acclaimed modern adventure The Longest Journey was released comes the sequel Dreamfall. It will feature some characters from TLJ, but will concentrate mostly on a new cast. The premise is that the Earth we know is actually only half the story of the universe. Our scientific Earth's true name is Stark, and its reality is mirrored in another dimension by a magical Earth called Arcadia. The game concerns a young woman named April Ryan who lives on Stark in the 23rd century. When a disaster throws the balance between the scientific and magical Earths out of whack, it's up to April to step in and restore equilibrium between the two universes. Core to the story are three playable characters: Zoë Castillo a twenty-year old young woman who lives with her grandfather; Kian an assassin who will begin to question his beliefs and returning from TLJ, April Ryan who will discover that no matter how hard you try, you cannot escape the past. In what can best be described as a modernized version of point-and-click, characters will have an innovative 'focus field' that allows you to interact with and scan the environment. Instead of point-and-click, you sweep the area with the focus field to find interactive objects or inventory items. One of the puzzles we were shown utilized the 'focus field' as your character had to light a torch and it does facilitate a smooth transition between puzzle and game without interrupting the flow of the game.***

[12]***Otherwise great game, except the combat had ridiculous control mechanism, the fact that the story ends in middle of everything and they should've left the zealot guy and April as NPCs (what's with April's new goth outlook anyway?). The locations also felt ridiculously small and made me think of some age-old consoles and their smaller than sensible limitations. Have to say that I prefer the original.***Although the main character is Zoë Castillo, you get to control April Ryan and the zealot guy too for a time and see what they're up to.

ParaWorld Aspyr Media;Deep Silver (Sunflowers;SEK Ost)2006Minimum:
* Windows 2000 or XP
* 1.6 GHz CPU
* 512 MB RAM
* 128 MB VRAM
* 3.4 GB HD space

Recommended:
* 3 GHz CPU
* 1 GB RAM***Amusingly the worst thing in the game is their "new and innovative" Army Controller, otherwise the game is quite nice but the army controller is so horribly limiting that you just can't appreciate the game enough.***DESCRIPTION

In the early 19th century a group of elite scientists formed around brilliant mathematician Jarvis Babbit. Together they formed a secret society dedicated to seeking out parallel worlds, worlds of which our ancestors had only the vaguest of ideas and whose very existence had never been proven.

After decades of study Babbit finally does manage to uncover the secrets of the dimension gates. A mechanical computer of his own design allows him to calculate both where and when a dimension gate between the worlds will open. And so did Babbit and his followers discover the ParaWorld, a world of warlike tribes, awe-inspiring dinosaurs and other terrifying primeval creatures.

The new-found ability to travel between the worlds gives members of this secret society possibilities hitherto unknown: governed by an entirely different set of natural laws, ParaWorld affects them much as the fabled fountain of youth. These scientists age no more.

Yet three young scientists stumble onto the secret: hot-tempered geologist Anthony Cole, nature-loving biologist Stina Holmlund and the somewhat introverted physics genius Béla Andràs Benedek. All three have come across evidence pointing to the existence of a parallel world in the course of their research.

A perifdious trick allows Babbit to lure the three young scientists into a trap which leaves them stranded on ParaWorld. Ill-equipped, they have nothing but one weapon capable of guaranteeing their survival – their own power of reason.

... the clock is ticking ...
