Display: Cassette Port

Hardware concept

In the oldest computer systems, some hobbyists experimented with using the cassette I/O port for video display. Soldiering required.

This is certainly limited in its uses and I have not yet found any instance where the and adapter for the cassette port was used to create a video display. In fact, I've found no standalone adapters that can be uses out-of-the-box. The all require soldering at least one wire from the adapter to some component on the PCB of the system (usually providing a sync signal to the adapter). But one thing this type of adapter is useful for is to alter colors, or even display colors from a system that had no built-in color. Typically, high resolution modes had less colors than other modes. Also, some systems had color graphics modes but text was binary color only. The adapters allowed these modes to be augmented with color.
