Sword and sorcery rarely has a heroic protagonist, but rather someone more realistic, even if the situation isn't.
May include heroic themes like damsel in distress and such, but the reasons for trying to save them are less heroic. Either the damsel is your love interest (as in, you've been courting/dating her) or she's wealthy or powerful and you expect to be well compensated for your efforts.
