Supposedly based on Sonata in G minor by Tomaso Giovanni Albinoni.
This work is still under copyright.
As the story goes. The ruins of the old Saxon State Library in Dresden, Germany was firebombed by the Allies during World War II. All of Tomaso Giovanni Albinoni's known but unpublished work had been housed there. Fragments from a unknown Sonata in G minor by Albinoni were found amongst the rubble. Remo Giazotto reconstructed the piece and it was published in 1958. Giazotto gave credit to Albinoni but filed a copyright under his own name. If the story is to be believed, this piece of music remained unknown for over 200 years and remained lost even when cataloged into the library. And that the only unknown piece of music in library was the only thing that survived. No notebooks, journals, or history books made mention of it in all that time. Its been noted that Giazotto had devoted most of his studying to Albinoni, before finding the alleged lost piece.
