Military has the convenient concept of battlespace which is divided into land, air, sea, space and information warfare. However, I'm unable to find anything that is applicable more broadly, specifically outside of militar operations. This would be useful for strategy games, (multivehicular) action games, management games, and whatever else. We have several tags that are quite nice when dealing with games where the player controls single character, but for controlling companies, nations or whole species they become less useful (the scale changes too much).

Anyway, for now there are the battlespace tags for: land, air, sea, space and information warfare. I'm hoping someone knows or can find out some better terms to replace the military specific ones.

Dropping out the warfare bit would turn them into location tags which would partially work (as seen with space), but not reliably for some (e.g. naval warfare includes seas, lakes, etc.).

add:
BuoyantSurface - takes place on a water, liquid, gas, other readily pliable surface due to the effects of buoyancy or other force that creates a similar effect.
submerged - underwater. or otherwise under a liquid, gas or other pliable surface (or over, depending on material and physics)
subterranean - tunnels, bunkers, or even graboids. Basically a not so pliable surface.

It should be noted that BuoyantSurface and submerged are subcategories of sea that can have a not so clear division between them. Even before submarines, a multitude of submerged things could play a very important role.

We do have subterranean and underwater tags already (both of which are quite generic), the water surface bit is missing.
