Personal review

Suishou no Dragon is an early Famicom Disk System adventure game by Squaresoft. The game starts with you and two of your friends flying through space and being attacked by a mysterious crystal dragon. After the encounter your two friends disappear and it is your task to find out what happened and search for your friends. The game is controlled by several icons on the upper part of the screen. You can cycle through the icons with pressed down B button + D-Pad. That as well as pressing the Start button to cancel an action does not feel intuitive. The game is also really short once you know what to do. The story is not really interesting and the graphics are only average. The number of locations is of course limited which is at least understandable for a 1986 game with limited space on the disk. Except the title and end screens there is no ingame music. Only some beeps here and there.

Editor note

Note: 龍 properly reads ryū, but the "furigana" beneath it reads doragon 「ドラゴン」 (dragon)
