With your friends, form a squad of four distinct IAF Marine classes. Plan your attack using an unlockable arsenal of weapons with countless loadout configurations against a wide variety of aliens. Blaze your way through an overrun, off-world colony, eradicating the alien infestation in environments ranging from the icy planet's surface, to a subterranean lava-flooded mining facility.

Along with the game get the complete code base for Alien Swarm that features updates to the Source engine as well as the SDK. Alien Swarm adds 3rd person camera, depth of field, improved dynamic shadows and a wide variety of gameplay additions to the Source engine.

* Tactical, 4 player co-op action game with a top-down perspective
* Complete game code and mod tools
* Unlock persistent items by gaining levels
* Over 40 weapons and equipment with countless loadout configurations
* 4 unique classes and 8 unique characters
* Matchmaking, Steam Cloud, Steam Stats
* 64 achievements
* Tile-based map generation tool
* Powered by Source and Steam***More outlying human colonies have fallen to Swarm attacks this month, the most notable of which being the research base of Tau Ceti 5. This base was known for its intensive research on the alien threat, having produced a number of papers on their behaviour and biological makeup, information the ISAF paid a great deal for. It's unknown whether the attack on this base was caused by the recent presence of a number of recently captured live bugs or whether it was just a random attack.
[Valve Steam]***Alien Swarm: Infested is an upcoming action strategy game featuring a unique blend of co-op play and squad level tactics all in an overhead view. As a Commander in the Interstellar Armed Forces, your job is to guide your squad and successfully complete their mission against the ravages of the Swarm infestation, a threat which plagues mankind across the breadth of colonized space.

Aliens: Colonial Marines  Sega (Gearbox Software;TimeGate Studios;Nerve Software)2013Has been received extremely poorly, here's few things that go over why:
* http://www.destructoid.com/so-who-the-hell-did-make-aliens-colonial-marines--244939.phtml
* http://www.destructoid.com/gearbox-lied-about-aliens-from-e3-demo-to-retail-product-244966.phtml
* http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6lGXDM3LGnk***For any Aliens fans, this game will be horribly disappointing. Despite the gratuitous fanservice from including LV-426, Hadley's Hope, Sulaco, the Derelict and its dead Jockey pilot, Hicks, and various other things from the movies, this game utterly fails to deliver on the atmosphere of the films. Alien acidic blood is only a minor annoyance, player can trivially fight the aliens in melee, the aliens themselves seem incredibly lazy, the way player can carry ~10 different weapons with separate ammo for each, extremely linear locations, and whatever else make this feel unsatisfying when you come to it expecting a proper Aliens game. The license seems almost wasted on it considering how much they deviate from what fans of the franchise would expect. If they had made this a game with no ties to Aliens franchise it would've probably been half-decent, but as it is, it fails to be what it is supposed to be. The graphics are the main point where this actually is quite good at, though for PC game they're kinda low fidelity, but nothing you wouldn't expect from a game that's published on the usual platform trio (X360/PS3/PC).

To summarize: fans of the Alien franchise, keep away. People who don't care for the franchise on the other hand, this can work as a mediocre tube shooter.

Aliens: Colonial Marines  Sega (Gearbox Software;TimeGate Studios;Nerve Software)2013Aliens: Colonial Marines is a first-person shooter based on the Aliens franchise and a sequel to the 1986 film Aliens, the second film in the series. The events take place directly after those of the film. The player takes control of the United States Colonial Marine Christopher Winter who is part of a search and rescue team that has to investigate the space ship U.S.S. Sulaco and what remains of Hadley’s Hope to find out what has happened to Ellen Ripley, Dwayne Hicks and the rest of the team that was sent to Acheron (LV-426), a fictional location as one of the three moons of Calpamos, located in the Zeta II Reticuli system. The team arrives on the space ship U.S.S. Sephora seventeen weeks after the distress call by Hicks was sent out.

The single-player campaign consists of eleven missions. Gameplay is centered around shooting opponents and sometimes items in the environment require interaction to open doors and such to progress. Some of the included weapons are a pulse rifle, shotgun, pistol, RPG, flamethrower and smartgun. Sentry turrets can be set up to defend specific areas. The turrets, along with the flamethrower and the smartgun, are not permanently available but are reserved for specific sections. There is no limitation on the amount of weapons that can be carried at a single moment. There is a motion tracker to scan movement in areas 180 degrees in front of the character. Ammo and armour upgrades can be picked up along the way. A flashlight is used to illuminate dark environments and a welder is available to cut open doors. In additional there is an leveling/experience system unified for both single-player and multiplayer where the earned points can be used to unlock new attachments and aesthetic enhancements for weapons and the main character. Most of the missions are not played alone. There is a squad of AI-controlled team mates who assist. They act independently and their behaviour cannot be influenced by the player. Many missions take place inside the space ship, but also often outside. There are a few stealth segments where all weapons are removed and no sound can be made while walking through a large amount of aliens.

Opponents include famous xenomorph aliens from the first three films, such as the chestburster, drone, facehugger, queen, warrior and runner. There are also new types, such as a boiler that can explode and a crusher. Certain levels include encounters with human soldiers from the Weyland-Yutani corporation with a different interest in the colony. There are also a number of boss fights.

Multiplayer is available as a cooperative campaign for two (split-screen) or four (online) players. Competitive multiplayer modes include Escape, Extermination, Survivor and Team Deathmatch. Escape and Survivor draw inspiration for the Left 4 Dead series. In the first, four human players need to reach a destination, while in the second they need to barricade themselves and survive as long as possible. In both modes both sides (humans and aliens) are controlled by human players. Playing as xenomorphs, there is a large emphasis on using the environment to travel along walls, ceilings and through vents for unexpected attacks. Different types of aliens are available and these too have different customization options and attacks unlocked as the player levels up.***

Avatar  Ubisoft (Ubisoft Montreal)2009Based on James Cameron's film, the game takes you deep into the heart of Pandora, an alien planet that is beyond imagination. Gamers encounter the Na'vi, Pandora's indigenous people and discover creatures and other wildlife the likes of which have never been seen in the world of video games before. When conflict erupts between the RDA Corporation, a space-faring consortium in search of valuable resources, and the Na'vi, players find themselves thrust into a fight for the heart of a planet and the fate of a civilization. Avatar  Ubisoft (Ubisoft Montreal)2009Seriously, anyone playing this game should NOT map use key to space bar like I always do. The space is hard-mapped to skip dialog and with use mapped to it (the same key that initiates the dialog), you'll miss >99% of the dialogs, makes a rather empty game and if not for the objective marker, you'd be completely lost.***bioroids - the human-Na'vi hybrid remote controlled hosts (Avatars)
magic - although the movie makes anything even slightly mystical have some scientific sounding answer (although still quite fantastic), the game incorporates elements (not seen or even hinted in the movie) that are impossible to explain away as such (many of the "skills").
upgrade system - hidden behind the conquest minigame.
no children - although this makes sense for the RDA, the Na'vi villages, especially the hometree, are oddly devoid of children.
human / bioroid protagonist - early on the player is given choice to side with RDA or the Na'vi, later events also make the latter (and likely former) choice quite permanent, the former obviously bars out any use of the Avatar as they were intended mostly for diplomatic reasons, while the latter occurs as an accident of sorts where the original host body of the protagonist dies and the Na'vi use their pseudo-magical religion to transfer the protagonist's consciousness permanently into the Avatar.
RDA specific: all firearms (except machineguns), driving (and all vehicles), hostile flora, ammo magazines, flamethrowers, g.launchers, infinigun (the dual pistols)***Minimum:

Command & Conquer 4: Tiberian Twilight  Electronic Arts (EA Los Angeles)2010Includes two campaigns selectable after ~3 tutorial/prologue missions, both of which end in superficially same manner but have their own quirks which may be of interest, though in terms of sequels (if there ever will be such) there's little need for retconning either campaign as they are sufficiently separated/streamlined not to clash with each other (but can't exist simultaneously).

Personally the singleplayer portion is rather pointless with obvious focus on 2-3 player coops or larger pvp matches.

Most of the difficulty on solo/coop games comes from the fact that the enemy isn't limited to 3-6 MCV calldowns like you are and thus can never be truly defeated (usually it isn't the objective and when it is, they don't call new MCVs when one id destroyed).

For anyone wanting good solo game, better look at the older free CnC games (Tiberian Sun for example) or games unrelated to CnC series. Didn't try multiplayer, so it might be more interesting if that's your thing.***In the year 2062, humanity found itself on the brink of extinction. Tiberium, the mysterious, alien crystalline structure that infested Earth for decades and caused years of relentless conflict between the Global Defense Initiative (GDI) and the Brotherhood of Nod, was close to rendering the planet uninhabitable. In the midst of this crisis, Kane, Nod's prophetic leader, emerged from seclusion to deliver GDI the message that he had developed a system that could control Tiberium and harness its power. But he could not build this "Tiberium Control Network" without GDI's cooperation. Thus, the two opposing factions—GDI and Nod—found themselves in a desperate and unlikely alliance to stop Tiberium from extinguishing mankind.

"KANE. GDI. NOD. TIBERIUM. HOW WILL IT END?"
Now, after 15 years, the network is nearly complete. Tiberium is under strict control and our revitalized planet is on the cusp of a new age of prosperity and progress. It is only now that the world's citizens begin to seriously ponder why Kane chose to help, and what he will want in return. These questions and more lead to the dramatic final act of the 15-year Tiberium saga in Command & Conquer 4 Tiberian Twilight.

Kane. GDI. Nod. Tiberium. How will it end? Find out in Command & Conquer 4 Tiberian Twilight, told through gritty live-action cinematics, persistent player progression, and a multitude of innovations to the classic fast and fluid Command & Conquer gameplay.

Evolve  2K Games (Turtle Rock Studios)2015One vs. all in monster format, this asimetric action game faces a team of 4 crazy gunman hunters with an abomination of nature fueled by crude melee combat and some sneaky options.

Pros:
-Great variety of monsters, going for more brute approach to almost hit-and-hide tipe of darwinistic nightmares.
-Hide-and-seek gameplay done well.
-Different tactics for different teams of warriors (synergy at its best)

Cons:
-Favors playtime vs. ability (gives to much power through unlockables to experienced players), unbalancing the game A LOT.

F.E.A.R. 3  WB Games (Day 1 Studios)2011Alma is expecting and a new level of terror grows as you and your cannibal brother battle through a hellish nightmare. Fight together or die alone on a deadly mission to confront your twisted mother. Players can take on the role of Point Man, a genetically enhanced soldier with superhuman reflexes and the ability to manipulate time, or the undead spirit of his brother Paxton Fettel, a paranormal entity who possesses incredible psychic powers.

Key Features
* Blood Runs Deep, F.E.A.R. Runs Deeper: F.E.A.R. 3 delivers all the hallmarks that define the F.E.A.R. brand: terrifying paranormal experience, frenetic combat and a dramatic storyline.
* Never Face Fear Alone: F.E.A.R. 3 evolves the brand, introducing Divergent Co-op: deep, social gameplay that gives players distinctly different abilities that affect their own play as well as the experience of gamers they are playing with... or against.
* Frenetic Combat: Active 360 degree cover, evolutionary slow-mo modes, scoring systems and best in class mech- combat aid players in facing an army of soldiers and paranormal enemies.
* Experience the Almaverse: The game world is tainted by the Almaverse, the alternate dimension where Alma’s psychic essence subsists. New sinister and fantastical enemy creatures birthed in Alma’s warped mind spill into reality and intensify the panic.
* Generative System: Proprietary technology creates random events to increase the feeling of isolation and unpredictability when playing alone or with a friend, and offers new experiences each time gamers play through.
* Masters of Horror: Legendary film director John Carpenter and writer Steve Niles provide their expertise and guidance to take F.E.A.R. 3 ’s intensity to the next level. Niles co-wrote the twisted storyline that reveals the motivations and family dynamics of the main characters, and Carpenter helped craft the cinematics for maximum storytelling and fright factor.***Nine months ago, Point Man and his F.E.A.R. squad were tapped to stop an unknown man who had commandeered a secret battalion of telepathically-controlled supersoldiers at the Armacham research facility in the Northwestern US city of Fairport. During the mission Point Man learned that the man wasn’t working alone. In fact, the very people Point Man was working to destroy were his telepathic, cannibalistic brother, Paxton Fettel, and his tortured and psychically powerful mother, Alma Wade—products of Armacham’s perverse paranormal experiments. Despite this revelation, Point Man moved forward with the standing F.E.A.R. team orders to stop the targets at any cost. In a last-ditch attempt to end the pair’s homicidal rampage, the F.E.A.R. team set in motion an explosive series of events that seemingly accomplished their goal but at the cost of ravaging the city, its inhabitants and almost all of Point Man’s squad mates.

For months following the blast, events in Fairport have made it clear that Alma’s psychic influence survived—and worse, her paranormal power is growing and spilling into reality. Now her supernatural agony repeatedly rocks the city as she attempts to secure the survival of her bloodline and reunite her family. Armacham’s security force remains violently focused on eliminating all evidence of the events in the city, and the remaining F.E.A.R squad carries on the mission to stop Alma.

With the chain of command broken and Point Man calling his own shots, where will his allegiance lie? With his brother Paxton Fettel, back from the dead, arriving with an unclear agenda and refusing to leave Point Man’s side? With his pregnant mother Alma and her horrifically twisted, yet immensely powerful paranormal existence? Or with his remaining F.E.A.R. squad brethren who are hell bent on saving the world, but at the cost of destroying the only blood ties Point Man has ever had?

Gotham City Impostors Warner Bros.
