Blood Omen 2  Eidos (Crystal Dynamics)2002Blood Omen 2 takes place four hundred years after the original Legacy of Kain, and is set in a land where Kain's army has been defeated and his enemy known as the Sarafan rule. You assume the role of the vampire tyrant Kain, the most evil figure to grace a video game console, in his pursuit for blood, conquest, and vengeance. Mix Kain's ability to drink the blood of his enemies with his ability to take control of the minds of his victims and you have one powerful combination for a lead character. The game is a mixture of action and puzzles as you lead Kain down his path of revenge. GameCubelabelimagesubject

Blood Omen 2  Eidos Interactive (Crystal Dynamics)2002A bit different foray in the game series compared to the others. Blood Omen 2 is tells a small part of Kain's history and storywise is set quite far apart from the rest of the series. This was the most disappointing part of the series, even though the game itself was enjoyable enough, it diverged too much from the main plot of the series.

You play the role of Kain, recently recuperated from wounds done to you two hundred years ago by a Sarafan Lord, though you remember little of it. So you set out, weak as you are, to get back into conquering the world. But the aim here is only to get your sword - the Soul Reaver - back and get your sweet revenge on the Sarafan Lord on the way. This all happens roughly four hundred years after the events of [game=#11237]Blood Omen[/game], and unspecified number of years before the events of [game=#162000]Soul Reaver[/game].

[spoiler]According to Wikipedia, the events of Blood Omen 2 took place _because_ of the events in Soul Reaver 2. The time-twisting and paradoxal time-altering done there was apparently the cause of this.[/spoiler]

[Sanguine]***Overhead action-RPG where you play as the vampire Kain in the sinister world of Nosgoth. You can kill and feast on any human you encounter.

Kain was a nobleman who was murdered during his travels. He sought vengeance and the necromancer Mortanius offered him a chance to do so by reviving him as a vampire. Kain then quickly enacts his revenge, but finds out that there is a greater plot to be uncovered. The story is probably the darkest to ever grace a console video game. Violent, yet mature and serious.

The storyline is too deep and complex for a simple summary so for more details, visit the link below and go to the Blood Omen section, or better yet, play the game.

Kain can use various weapons, spells and items, can morph in the classic vampire states (bat, wolf, mist), feast on humans or even some monsters and explore various environments.

The game features excellent voice acting and several cinematics. The bugs found on the PlayStation version were corrected for the PC version, and there is even a little extra dialogue (though not much).

Demon Sword  Taito (Tose)1988Note that the protagonists is neither a ninja or a samurai, that's not a ninjatō he's wielding, but those are deadly shuriken he's throwing.

The save password system is accessible from the start menu by pressing up. This is not exactly a secret because it is described extensively in the manual. The plot of this game revolves around searching for pieces the demon sword refereed to in the title. The protagonist can cast magical like spells. Certain elements of the game suggest it is of the wuxia genre.

Now, years later, the dragon has revived and it's up to you to use the power of the wizard's descendants, the Draslefamily, to defeat the dragon once again.

You play several members of a family to retrieve four crowns and finally a magical sword to beat an evil dragon. The items can be found in a huge and complicated 16x16 rooms labyrinth. Each of the family members has special abilities giving them advantages in certain parts of the labyrinth (e.g. the father can move blocks, the little sister jumps very high etc.). While the graphics, controls and music are not bad, this game has a huge problem. It is incredibly confusing, complex and difficult. Dead ends, secrets, a ton of unfair spots and a labyrinth design that lets you cry for a good hint book - and even then it is still frustrating.

[27]***It is one thousand years after Blood Omen: Legacy of Kain. Raziel, once a mighty vampire and lieutenant of Kain, rises from eternal banishment where Kain put him out of jealous rage. Now, after having been freed by the Elder God, Raziel is out to free the world from the dreaded vampire clans and to destroy Kain himself!
The shadows of Nosgoth is a vast 3D world packed with deadly creatures, amazing graphics, and spectacular special effects. During his quest, Raziel survives by feeding on the souls of the undead and as Raziel defeats his enemies, he gains abilities and weapons that will allow him to ultimately challenge Kain himself.***Several hundreds of years after Kain decided to damn Nosgoth, he is now the Master of Nosgoth. He has 6 vampire lieutenants, one of which he will punish for an apparent reason of jealousy of the lieutenant developing a dark gift before the Master.

The lieutenant, Raziel, is condemned to destruction by being cast in the Lake of the Dead, but he is somehow saved from total annihilation by an unknown entity called the Elder God. He then vows vengeance against his former master, but when he returns to the material world he finds that much has changed.

This game is fully 3D and has been wrongly compared to Tomb Raider. The controls are actually good and precise, the 3D engine was the best of its time with very large and detailed environments. Raziel is no longer a typical vampire: instead of drinking blood, he devours souls, and has actually become a vampire hunter. He kills vampires by various means such as impalement or immolation. He can also shift back and forth between the spirit/spectral realm and the material realm when need be.

A bit later in the game he will find the Soul Reaver, but a different version of the sword than from Blood Omen: it's a spectral sword that is fused to his body and his very being. The Soul Reaver will become a key element in the Legacy of Kain storyline.

You're young in your new form, though, and can't hold your physical form forever in the material realm, constantly draining your strength, the longer you stay there unsated. So at any time you're weakened too much, you're transported back into the spirit realm where you can sate your hunger with the lost souls. Your ability to transport yourself back and forth between material and spiritual realms is fundamental to your success, and adds an interesting depth to some puzzles and fights. However, you're practically immortal, even if you were to die, as if you could, you're transported back to the underworld, below throbbing tendrils and the everwatchful gaze of the Elder.[/spoiler]

Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver 2 Eidos (Crystal Dynamics)2001After the cliffhanger ending of Soul Reaver 1, the Legacy of Kain saga continues here. Raziel travels across several eras of Nosgoth in an attempt to solve a complex plot involving himself, the Soul Reaver, Kain and the time streamer Moebius.

The game somewhat recycles, but improves, its predecessor's 3D engine. The gameplay is similar, but the controls and the fighting are improved and Raziel can use several different weapons. The Reaver can now remain even when Raziel is hit but it has the penalty of damaging him through overuse.
The puzzles are now more varied and improved.

Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver 2 Eidos Interactive;Square Enix (Crystal Dynamics)2001[b]Minimum requirements:[/b]
* Windows 98 or ME
* Pentium III 450 MHz or equivalent
* 128 MB RAM
* DX 8.0 compatible graphics card with 16 MB VRAM
* 850 MB free HD space

[b]Recommended:[/b]
* Pentium III 700 MHz or equivalent
* DX 8.0 compatible graphics card with 32 MB VRAM***Soul Reaver 2 continues right from where [game=#162000]Soul Reaver[/game] left off. You're on the hunt for Kain, the one who betrayed you and threw you into the Abyss where your vampiric self was transformed into the Soul Reaver that you are now. There's a lot of time travel involved in this one, and is a bit more complex in the plot than the prequel, but at least you get to know the world better, and your own history, before you became a vampire and some odd prophetic stuff about your destiny. The ending was surprising, to say the least, and set ground for [game=#110390]Defiance[/game] quite nicely. The new Elemental Forge enhancements to your Soul Reaver sword was a bit annoying, but you still had most of your old abilities (minus the least useful one), and the Elemental Forges themselves were interesting and visually impressive puzzles (like rest of the game, though I only remember the wind forge right out of the top).

Soul Blade  Namco1997
[100]***Soul Blade is one of the most popular arcade fighting games available and its heading to your home (at least it should be if you buy it).
Soul Blade is especially impressive because of its superior motion-captured texture-mapped graphics and it's true light-sourcing. Coupled with challenging gameplay that emphasizes side-stepping counter-attacks and strategy Namco has made a fighting game worthy of the highest praises.
A major element that elevates the quality of Soul Blade is its true 3D environment. This element not only proves useful in evading attacks but also for side stepping and attacking. Each player and opponent must constantly re-adjust to attack and defend from the new character positions.
Even when a character is knocked to the ground it is an opportunity to recover and attack. While the attacks are powerful and cool to watch constant attacking will only take you so far in this game.
Success lies in the ability to defend and counter-attack.***
[29]***Under the influence of the twin swords, Soul Edge, Cervantes slew his entire crew, and everybody in a nearby port town. After he was done, and with Soul Edge temporarily satisfied, he went to the ruins of the 'Black Tail Inn' to sleep in preparation for the birth of the 'Child of the Evil Sword.'
Over the next 20 years, rumors about Soul Edge spread across the world. Some called it the 'Sword of Salvation,' some called it the 'Ultimate Weapon.' Some set out to find Soul Edge for their own purposes. Those who managed to reach Soul Edge wished they hadn't, as the evil blades devoured their souls.
One woman, Sophitia, managed to destroy one of the swords in a battle to the death with Cervantes. Sophitia was injured by the fragments of Soul Edge. With half of Soul Edge destroyed, Cervantes became enraged, as if she had destroyed a part of his body. He was about to finish her off, when Taki stepped in. With his equilibrium broken, Cervantes lost to Taki in the end.
Taki obtained a fragment of Soul Edge, and departed with the badly injured Sophitia, whose life hung by a thread.
Siegfried, the 'Innocent Darkside,' was on his own quest to find Soul Edge, the 'Sword of Vengeance.' When he arrived, however, all he found was the corpse of a pirate. The sword clutched in its hand caught Siegfried's attention, so he approached the corpse...
...But suddenly, the corpse, engulfed in flames, rose up, as if the evil itself had possessed the pirates body. It had become the essence of the sword itself, Inferno.
The corpse and the boy fought. Even though Siegfried's sword was so huge, he swung it effortlessly. His eyes were filled with madness as the sword cut the air with a roar. Siegfried won the battle, despite the fact that his sword broke. Then, he spotted Soul Edge again...
...Soul Edge had lost its host, and was on the verge of tearing itself apart, until Siegfried reached out and grasped the hilt...
People around the world gazed at the beautiful pillar of light that pierced the clouds, not knowing that it was the Evil Seed, that would bring indescribable misfortune to the world.

Soul Calibur  Namco1998Kilik was a member of the Ling-Sheng Su Temple. When the evil seed appeared, everyone inside it went insane and started killing each other.
Kilik remained barely affected, using his own inner strength and the Dvapara-Yuga. In his own self defense, Kilik killed many temple members, including his sworn sister Xianglian. He passed out and woke up with Edge Master, who explained about Soul Edge, and the evil that was inside of him.
Kilik set out on a quest to destroy Soul Edge.
Eventually, he come across an Indian port town, where Maxi's crew was being attacked by Astaroth and some monsters. Kilik helped out, but when one of the monsters stole Dvapara-Yuga, Kilik went insane and attacked Maxi.
Maxi managed to fight him off, but not before Astaroth killed the entire crew. Now that Maxi had nothing left, he decided to help Kilik destroy Soul Edge, with the intent of getting revenge on Astaroth.
The two continued their quest and met up with Xianghua, who had the third Ling-Sheng Su Temple treasure (But none of them knew it). She decided that since she was under orders to find Soul Edge, she would go along with the two men.
When the three reached Nightmare's stronghold, Astaroth was waiting for them. Maxi stayed behind to fight him while the others went ahead. Kilik fought Nightmare and won. When Inferno appeared, Kilik was too tired to fight it (or something), so Xianghua fought it instead. Before it attacked, Xianghua's Krita-Yuga became Soul Calibur, the good version of Soul Edge.
Xianghua won against Inferno, but Inferno, Soul Calibur, and Nightmare got sucked into a void.
