* 12 MB HD space
* 4X CD-ROM drive***[spoiler=Weapon plot:;Close][gametag=weaponplot]Weapon plot[/gametag] - the Reaver sword is central to the overall story of Legacy of Kain series.
[/spoiler]highborn protagonist - Kain was a nobleman in life.
[Sanguine]***Overhead action-RPG where you play as the vampire Kain in the sinister world of Nosgoth. You can kill and feast on any human you encounter.

Kain was a nobleman who was murdered during his travels. He sought vengeance and the necromancer Mortanius offered him a chance to do so by reviving him as a vampire. Kain then quickly enacts his revenge, but finds out that there is a greater plot to be uncovered. The story is probably the darkest to ever grace a console video game. Violent, yet mature and serious.

The storyline is too deep and complex for a simple summary so for more details, visit the link below and go to the Blood Omen section, or better yet, play the game.

Kain can use various weapons, spells and items, can morph in the classic vampire states (bat, wolf, mist), feast on humans or even some monsters and explore various environments.

The game features excellent voice acting and several cinematics. The bugs found on the PlayStation version were corrected for the PC version, and there is even a little extra dialogue (though not much).

Illusia: Quest for the Eternals Living Mask Productions1998Long ago I played and was a world builder in this game. Still miss alot of the players from there. Though I still keep my ancient stories I wrote for the forums. I always wonder if they ever incorporated the giant maze I built that was larger than the main human city
[SteppingWolf]***Miss this game so much. It's so unique. I have not able to find another similar game. (maybe realm of kaos is a bit close)
[StarNight]***This game had something I haven't seen in any of the new stuff/ eye candy games. This game had character and depth. I miss it.
[Dokein]***It seems this game never got past alpha testing phase. Was available only for Windows during alpha testing, although several ports were planned.

The game was pseudo-[url=/groups/info/mud]MUD[/url], but since it required its own client (instead of working with any telnet client or even [url=http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MXP_%28computing%29]extended MUD[/url] clients), we must therefore assume it simply mimicked MUDs but effectively no longer was such.
[Sanguine]***A 2000 player RPG. Player verses player is regional and enforced by an in-game legal system.

The company, on doing this sequel, had to keep up with the original game's quality and fun. The problem was, without Molyneux.

Thankfully, Bullfrog proved that they can still create classic games even without their former mentor. This game takes everything that made it's prequel great, and improves it all.

Briefly, you an evil dungeon keeper (natch), that has to command the place in your reign of filth and decay. Also, protect the place from those damn goody-two-shoes who try to destroy your underground evil dungeon.

I don't want tp spoil the game with words; you simply have to play it.

AMD's 3DNow! is advertized on the back cover, so obviously this game can benefit from it.***You're Raziel, one of Kain's Vampire Generals.. or rather, you were. Kain betrayed you, when you showed him that you had evolved beyond him. So he granted you death, by ripping out your new wings and throwing you down in to the Abyss. Dead, at least that's what you thought, you re-awaken in the Underworld, right under the nose the Elder. Confused, weak, and no longer a vampire, you set out to settle some matters with your former master, Kain.

More in-depth description:
[spoiler]... Although you were no longer a vampire, you still suffered some of their natural weaknesses, such that of water burning you like acid or sun scorching your skin like fire. However, you rid most of these weaknesses from yourself over time as you devour the souls of your slain enemies. You're young in your new form, though, and can't hold your physical form forever in the material realm, constantly draining your strength, the longer you stay there unsated. So at any time you're weakened too much, you're transported back into the spirit realm where you can sate your hunger with the lost souls. Your ability to transport yourself back and forth between material and spiritual realms is fundamental to your success, and adds an interesting depth to some puzzles and fights. However, you're practically immortal, even if you were to die, as if you could, you're transported back to the underworld, below throbbing tendrils and the everwatchful gaze of the Elder.[/spoiler]

Vampire: The Masquerade – Redemption  Activision (Nihilistic Software)2000The protagonist joined a crusade for religious reasons even if this motive faded. He is in love with a Christian (Benedictine) nun (of which order?) who definitely values her religion and wants to keep her vows (which was not a given in the 12th century). This nun also values prayer. The protagonist also has religious vows that he clings to. Christian religion has a significant role in the story. Though the game ending greatly depends on the protagonist's conduct, this mechanic is has nothing to do with any real-world faith or religion, it is more of an constructed system of virtue unique to the game.***

* Pentium III 700 MHz or equivalent
* DX 8.0 compatible graphics card with 32 MB VRAM***Soul Reaver 2 continues right from where [game=#162000]Soul Reaver[/game] left off. You're on the hunt for Kain, the one who betrayed you and threw you into the Abyss where your vampiric self was transformed into the Soul Reaver that you are now. There's a lot of time travel involved in this one, and is a bit more complex in the plot than the prequel, but at least you get to know the world better, and your own history, before you became a vampire and some odd prophetic stuff about your destiny. The ending was surprising, to say the least, and set ground for [game=#110390]Defiance[/game] quite nicely. The new Elemental Forge enhancements to your Soul Reaver sword was a bit annoying, but you still had most of your old abilities (minus the least useful one), and the Elemental Forges themselves were interesting and visually impressive puzzles (like rest of the game, though I only remember the wind forge right out of the top).
labelimageminimize
Blood Omen 2  Eidos Interactive (Crystal Dynamics)2002A bit different foray in the game series compared to the others. Blood Omen 2 is tells a small part of Kain's history and storywise is set quite far apart from the rest of the series. This was the most disappointing part of the series, even though the game itself was enjoyable enough, it diverged too much from the main plot of the series.

You play the role of Kain, recently recuperated from wounds done to you two hundred years ago by a Sarafan Lord, though you remember little of it. So you set out, weak as you are, to get back into conquering the world. But the aim here is only to get your sword - the Soul Reaver - back and get your sweet revenge on the Sarafan Lord on the way. This all happens roughly four hundred years after the events of [game=#11237]Blood Omen[/game], and unspecified number of years before the events of [game=#162000]Soul Reaver[/game].

[spoiler]According to Wikipedia, the events of Blood Omen 2 took place _because_ of the events in Soul Reaver 2. The time-twisting and paradoxal time-altering done there was apparently the cause of this.[/spoiler]

The Witcher  Atari;CD Projekt (CD Projekt RED)2007Andrzej Sapkowski, the creator of the Witcher universe, stated that he would not play the game since he has no interest in video games in general. However, he praised the game's opening cinematic, which (partially) tells the story of Sapkowski's very first short story, called simply Witcher (Wiedźmin). The Polish version of the game also comes with this short story.***The original (Polish) version of the game features some allusions to the Polish national-conservative party Law and Justice (Polish: Prawo i Sprawiedliwość). The party's name is mentioned by NPCs in the game in connection with corruption and discrimination against non-humans. Also at some point Geralt may dismiss an NPC saying "Spieprzaj, dziadu!" (approximately "Piss off, old man!"). The cofounder of Law and Justice and president (at the time the game was released) of Poland Lech Kaczyński once famously said those words to a heckler.***Un juego curioso, ya que su manejo e historía son de corte clásico (control en combate "por turnos", inventario complejo e historia de decisiones vinculantes)

The censoring (in NA release) is associated with all the instances where you have sex with the gals. This shows only a very scantily clad art piece of the person and nothing else, so it isn't really that explicit even. More like extremely suggestive. The art pieces were re-touched to make them more modest (such as bare breasts being covered). In a beautiful, rich game universe created by artists first, technology second, the player becomes his own hero in an epic, action-packed narrative uniquely defined by his actions. Returning to the roots of the role-playing genre with a fresh and modern approach, The Witcher emphasizes story and character development in a vibrant world, while incorporating tactically-deep real-time combat like no game before it.

Immersed in a vivid but harsh fantasy world, the player assumes the role of a white-haired witcher named Geralt, a renowned monster-slayer-for-hire and master swordsman with superhuman strength and reflexes. While trying to regain his lost memory, Geralt unwillingly becomes involved in a world-shaking power struggle. Created to provide entertainment for both fans of role-playing games and those seeking fast-paced action, The Witcher brings together epic storytelling and dynamic, visually stunning, and tactically deep action.

Characteristics:

* Geralt of Rivia: a one-of-a-kind protagonist
* A charismatic and unique character, Geralt is a mutant swordmaster and professional monster slayer.
* Choose from over 250 special abilities correlated to attributes, combat skills and magical powers to build the character in a way best suited to tactical needs and style of play.
* Original fantasy world drawn from literature
* Inspired by the writings of renowned Polish author Andrzej Sapkowski.
* Featuring adult themes, less fairy-tale than typical fantasy, with mature social issues like racism, political intrigue and genocide.
* It is a harsh world where nothing is black or white, right or wrong, often forcing players to choose between the lesser of two evils to advance.
* Non-linear and captivating storyline
* Full of turns, twists and ambiguous moral decisions which have real impact on the storyline.
* All quests can be accomplished in several ways and the game has three different endings depending on the player's actions and choices throughout the adventure.
* Visually stunning tactical action
* Engage in complex yet intuitive real-time combat based on real medieval sword-fighting techniques.
* Motion capture performed by medieval fighting experts at Frankfurt's renowned Metric Minds studio, resulting in 600 spectacular and authentic in-game combat animations.
* Six combat styles, dozens of potions, complex alchemy system, modifiable weapons and powerful magic add tactical depth to the fluid real-time experience.
[Atari]***The Game

„The Witcher" returns to the tradition of the role-playing genre with a fresh and modern approach, emphasizing story and character development in a vibrant world, while incorporating spectacular and well developed combat system like no game before it. The story is set in the world described in five books - giving additional credibility and depth of the background of the story.

The game features the player as a „Witcher", a warrior who has been trained to fight since childhood, subjected to mutations and trials that transformed him. Darkeden SOFTON Entertainment;Joymax;NetMarble (SOFTON Entertainment)2008Here you have a choice between human vampire slayers, vampires and the recently added Ousters. The game does not offer auto-attack like most MMOs so you need to be constantly clicking on your opponents to attack and the game works on a rectangle grid which makes moving in some directions seem slower than moving into others. Other than that, I didn't have much chance to test it out, but the initial impression was not particularly interesting and seemed to be more tedious than most MMOs I've tried. Also, it managed to crash my whole computer, which no other game has managed to do in quite a while. labelimageminimize
King's Bounty: The Legend  1C Company;Atari;Paradox Interactive (Katauri Interactive)2008King's Bounty: The Legend is an adventure game with tactical turn-based battles and role-playing elements. In a fairy tale fantasy world of fearless knights, evil mages, wise kings and beautiful princesses the player controls a hero. Leading their character through the game world, exploring it, commanding armies in battle and accomplishing various quests can mean great reward or huge defeats.

Gameplay is divided into two major sections: adventure mode and battle mode. While playing in adventure mode the gamer controls their character in real-time. With several classes available at the start of a new game, the player moves through the adventure map seeking various treasures, fighting monsters and accomplishing quests tasked to him by the local stewards. Once in battle mode the gamer assumes the role of a war chief, leading his troops in tactical turn-based combat. Battles take place on land or sea, in dungeons or castles or even in some items! The hero himself doesn't participate in the combat, but can assist his troops by casting spells or summoning different creatures.***Una gran mezcla de estrategia y combate por turnos, al estilo de Might and Magic.

A Vampyre Story  Focus Home Interactive (Autumn Moon Entertainment)2008The point-and-click adventure game «A Vampyre Story» tells the tale of the beautiful, gifted opera singer Mona De Lafitte, whose life is brought to an abrupt end by a vampire baron named Shrowdy Von Kiefer. Henceforth, she is doomed to a miserable existence as a creature of the night in Von Kiefer's gloomy castle in Draxsylvania. Confronted with her seemingly hopeless fate, she decides to run away and try to fulfill her dream of singing at the Paris Opera. Accompanied by her mischievous bat Froderick, Mona must face a number of challenges in her odyssey and learn not only to accept her vampire nature, but also to use the abilities she has acquired to her advantage.

In more than 50 hand-drawn locations, the player's task is to guide Mona through Draxsylvania and to Paris by using his powers of deduction. Having a bent for extremely dark humor also helps... Along the way, Mona meets a wealth of partly endearing, partly frightening, but often just plain weird characters, including the inventor Dr. Riga Mortus, the gypsy Madame Strigoi, and Carpathia the wolfwoman.

«A Vampyre Story» has been penned by Bill Tiller, the founder of Autumn Moon Entertainment. A former employee of Lucas Arts, Tiller won himself a place in the hearts of adventure fans through his work on titles such as Steven Spielberg's The Dig, the legendary The Curse of Monkey Island, and Indiana Jones. A Vampyre Story combines modern 3D animation with the qualities of classic 2D adventure design and a highly unusual style which can best be compared with the works of Tim Burton or Edward Gorey.

All of this contributes toward making «A Vampyre Story» the first classic adventure for players of the 21st century, with the look and feel, humor and class of the cult graphic adventures by the Californian developer.

Features:

• A point-and-click adventure game created by former LucasArts employees.
• Over 50 hand-painted locations, in part over several screens, to explore and investigate.
• Over 20 characters, from plain weird to downright terrifying.
• Over 20 hours of brainteasing fun.
• Vampire abilities influence game events.

The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim  Bethesda Softworks (Bethesda Game Studios)2011Special Edition does little else than overhaul the graphics a little bit and bundle all the DLC, biggest change is moving from 32 bit to 64 bit but this does not change the game.

Charlaine Harris: Dying For Daylight Mastertronic Group Limited (Nikitova Games)2012Summary
A short, easy game that does not take itself too seriously and doesn't require that you read a manual before you start playing.
This game suitable for a someone new to gaming. While none of the puzzles should give anyone who's played a game or two any trouble the hint system tells you the answers and, if that isn't enough, many puzzles have a 'Skip' option that's triggered after about half a dozen attempts.

The Good
The game is well drawn, has decent music and game mechanics, everything just works as it should.
The standout part for me was the voice acting of the main character. Xe Sands sounded suitably vampish, i.e. flirtatious and suggestive, as Dahlia the lead vampire character, delivering her lines like a modern Mae West. Very easy on the ears.

The Bad
It's very short. There's a decent story here that has potential. A vampire group in New Orleans has this formula but under threat they have scattered and Dahlia starts tracking them down. Episode one sets the scene and the remaining episodes deal with the first three characters then the game stops. Why? There are several other characters to track down plus what happens when she gets the formula? Do the bad guys get there first? It feels as though either the game is incomplete or the author couldn't come up with an ending.

The install process does not put a link into the Start menu. Whenever the game is to be played the CD must be loaded and the game runs from there, just a minor niggle but I spent longer looking for the installed game than I did solving some of the puzzles.

Estimated time to complete: Around four hours***Enter a vampire world as Dahlia, a vampire with a fantastic sense of fashion and a razor-sharp wit!
Go on an epic hunt to find the legendary sun potion in Dying for Daylight.
As vampires have been productive and ultimately accepted into society, their ancient vulnerability remains true, they can only emerge at night.
When rumours circulate that a legendary potion exists allowing vampires to walk amid the daylight, Dahlia jumps at the chance to further investigate in this fun Hidden Object game.

•Incredible atmosphere,
•Fantastic action
