Attack warning

Video game concept

There's a brief warning before any enemy attack, either quite visible pull back before striking or other style of readying a weapon or possibly just an angry flash of color.

Name variations: attack telegraphing

The first video game about Attack warning was released on October 14, 2008.

Sega and Capcom has published most of these games

Some enemies may be designed to specifically skip this as their gimmick.

If this behaviour is limited to only few enemies (the above quirk inverted), then this tag is not really appropriate.

This is not for warnings about enemies appearing.

Implied: dodging, blocking, parrying, counter attacking
... the attack warning serves little purpose if none of these is in the game, though player can be required to simply back off or jump away for the same thing.
