Shared cooldowns

Video game concept

Some abilities, skills, spells, etc. that have a cooldown share it with other abilities, often similar ones. This may be absolute (same cooldown on all) or a significant delay on using the other abilities (e.g. half of the used ability's own cooldown

Note that this may make some sense, for example using an attack maneuver obviously prevents you from employing another attack maneuver while the current one is being performed (unless somehow cancelled).

This behaviour is similar to using up significant chunk of whatever energy pool is in existence without actually cutting off the use of unrelated abilities that also use that energy. E.g. afterburner and stabilizers can work separately of weapon systems.

For vehicles and other mechanical things this can be handwaved as delays in the system itself to prevent damage from too rapid changes.
