The was game developed by Perpetual Entertainment until their bankruptcy in January 2008. Cryptic Studios acquired the license and art assets of the game, but not the codebase. Continued development was officially announced on July 28, 2008.

The setting is the pre-reboot (2009) universe where Vulcan homeworld was not destroyed.
