This is a game designed to teach useful hacking skills (rearranging computer code to make it perform more efficiently and for new purposes; not to be confused with illegal cracking which is often mislabeled hacking) in an fun 3D game context. Players will learn about Windows and GNU/Linux systems and there is a specific GNU/Linux teaching mod for the game for those curious about Linux but not as interested in hacking. Unlike some other games of it's era, SCHV does not emulate or virtual a computer system. The systems within the game are very simplified simulations, yet programmable.
