"Linux" refers to a group of computer operating systems based on the Linux kernel created 1991 by Linus Torvalds and usually packaged with non-proprietary software originating from the GNU project (created 1983, GNU stands for GNU's Not Unix) or using software licenses approved by said project. GNU/Linux is a more accurate term for a package of GNU applications and a Linux kernel that form a complete operating system. However, popular media and several prominent operating system vender's commonly use the term "Linux" instead of "GNU/Linux". The Linux kernel can be compiled to run on virtually any hardware or CPU architecture including supercomputers, mainframes, web servers, desktop PCs, game consoles, set-top boxes, network routers, mobile phones, wristwatches, PDAs, portable music players, and more. UVL users can see a list of only Linux games by clicking here.

Unix, BSD, NeTXstep, Solaris, BeOS, GP2X, Minix, OS/2, and Ouya, have their own platforms at UVL

Should be compatible with Linux, Gnome, KDE, Debian, x-windows, x11, XFree86 and others.

UNIX, BSD, NeXTstep, Sun Solaris, Minix, and GP2X have their own platforms. Mac OS X is in the Mac platform.

For now, some completely unrelated platforms are here too. Such as Pandora, RISC OS, GCOS , OpenVMS, QNX, and SkyOS.
