Description

The third iteration of Empire maintained the core 50 player space shooter gameplay from Empire II but expanded on it in various ways while optimizing performance of the game. The player's ship now remained in the centre of the screen adding periodic scrolling. Space no longer wrapped around at the edges of the map so the map had strict borders. A mini-map shows the player's location in all of space. Ships still maintain their velocity and need to break by rotating it into reverse and thrusting in the opposite direction. Rotation is not instant and takes time. Ships can fire torpedoes and phasers to try to hit enemy ships.
