a.k.a. Operation Com●Bat: Computer Battle Game / Operation Com-Bat: Computer Battle Game

created and published by Merit Studios in 1990, running on MS-DOS
type: turn-based, strategy
genre: Wargame
perspective: bird's-eye
player options: single player, cable/nullmodem, LAN, Internet
languages: eng
4.7/5

Editor note

The Tandy specific version required using the "Operation Combat - Tandy Start-up Disk #1". After this disk was booted or the TCOMBAT executable was manually run (this was an option), then the normal DOS disks were used by the game with the user swapping disks when and as instructed.

"Com●Bat" is a pun. It is short for COMputer BATtle and a joke about COM and BATch executable files.

Nullmodem cable, network and modem play is fully cross-platform between all versions. If you can find or make the cabling to connect a Tandy 1000 to a Mac?! Tandy 1000 models with a serial port may require moving a jumper pin on the motherboard. Most models don't come with a serial port and require add-on hardware. And a reminder, if you have a serial mouse and want to play against someone over a serial cable then you have a serial problem.
