Official description

Be a part of Bible stories as exciting characters come to life. Help Noah bring the animals into the ark before the big storm; pretend you are David battling the giant Goliath; and help save baby Moses from the Pharaoh's overwhelming forces. Assisted by scores of direct quotes from the Bible, your adventure is going to be fun and educational.

NOAH'S ARK
Noah is fervently preparing for the long journey. To complete the quota of animals and food for the ark you must search through multiple worlds of forests, caverns, and mountainous terrains. Interesting and unique behaviors challenge you to find a different solution to capture each type of animal.

SAVE BABY MOSES
The Pharaoh's soldiers are out in full force with orders to find and kill baby Moses. You must outsmart their persistent search and rescue Moses. As you progress through each level there are more and more soldiers and obstacles to test your determination and will.

DAVID AND GOLIATH
As a shepherd, young David has to keep and defend his family's flock. After you are successful in rounding up the scattered sheep, you will then face Goliath and his shield bearer. Be Bold, for God is with you.

Description

There are three distinct games in this cartridge. Each with their own story. But all three games user the same engine, have similar mechanics, and have similar graphics. As advertised by Wisdom Tree, "This game promotes Bible literacy and teaches children about the Bible while they play a fun and exciting Super Mario Bros. style video game". The game mechanics do bear a resemblance to Super Mario Bros. 2. Because of this, the uninformed sometimes assume it is a pirate of SMB2. There is no evidence of this. Common to all three is the ability to run, jump, pickup creatures and objects, and throw them. Creatures can do the same things to the player, objects, and each other (sometimes leading to some interesting emergent behaviors). Creatures and the player can carry multiple objects at once with a different maximum carrying capacity for each creature. Some creatures obtain objects that the player cannot unless they can get them from said creature. Different creatures react differently to each other, the player, different objects, and to the different ways each object is used. Some creatures will not let the player carry them, or even harm the player on contact, unless certain conditions are met (most often, unconscious or eating). Another common element is the ability of the player to climb certain scenery, such as cave walls and tree trunks. The final common element I'll talk about is the health bar. It is replenished by picking up carved stones that have a generic game hint on them, or a hint in the form of a Bible passage (NIV).

Noah's Ark
The player controls Noah as he explores the area around the Ark trying to gather the last 6 living creatures in world that have come to the ark. I supposed its safe to assume that the rest of the worlds creatures are already in the ark. Understanding each animals behavior is key to gathering them all.

The game makes some unbiblical errors with the retalling of the Noah's Ark story. Such as Noah gathering the animals himself and only 1 male and 1 female of every animal. The Bible relates that God first made a broad statement saying chay (every living thing, including plants), would bow'Tattnay (come from foreign places) to Noah in shnayim (complete sets, which means a pair for many but not all animals and certainly not all plants). Then after this, God is more redundant and specifies about male, female, domesticated, flying (7 complete sets of these), pure (7 complete sets of these also), unpure, and creepy living things (I guess the redundancy was so Noah would not forget any or entertain the idea of purposefully leaving any behind, such as the mosquitoes); and the fruits and veggies to feed them all for 300 days (which Noah, & presumably family, did have to gather themselves). When the rain came, God commanded everything inside the Ark and they all obeyed. These discrepancies are commonly repeated when telling the story of Noah's Ark.

Blue cartridges contain version 1.2 with bug that prevents all animals from being collected in the Noah's Ark game. Versions 1.3 and 1.4 come in the black cartridge.

Baby Moses
The player controls Jochebed (Moses' mother) who's been hiding Moses for 3 months to protect him from Pharaoh's order to kill all the newborn Hebrews. Now she must carry moses to the Nile and place him in there in a paper reed ark. Between home and the Nile, are many Egyption soldiers.

David and Goliath
The player controls David as he gather's up the family flock in preparation to deliver supplies to his brothers who are currently on a battlefield where no one will answer Goliath's challenge (so no battle yet). Once there, David, armed only with a sling, must face Goliath's shieldbearer and Goliath himself who laughs off all blows except one. It only takes one shot to kill him, but its gotta be a precise hit.
