The 8th canonical game in the Ultima series and the first game in Ultima's Age of Armageddon. (Ultima Underworld is canonical, prequil of this game, and the 7th in the series). But, it was never intended to run on Linux. This, and other exult enhancements are sufficient to mark this game as uncanonical. Exult uses SDL for the Linux version with an OpenGL option. The player and party can use crossbows and bows. Ingredients can be mixed to bake bread and other things. Cheese is available as food. A variety of items can be crafted into other items. There are pumpkin fields in the game, from which pumpkins can be harvested. Flight of the Bumblebee is played at one point, Rule Britannia is overplayed. An addictive medicine in the game is abused by characters and can be abused by the player's character and party, with consequences. And some coder with nothing better to do has given the engine dance mat compatibility.

... originally by [company=Mythos Games]Mythos Games[/company] as a 3D remake of the original [game=X-COM: UFO Defense]X-COM: UFO Defense[/game] which was cancelled. [game=Virgin Interactive]Virgin Interactive[/game] restarted the project under ALTAR in 2001.***UFO: Aftermath is a 3D isometric, tactical strategy game with a rich and compelling sci fi story.

Combining a global strategy with small squad tactical combat, the challenge offered is to fight against an alien invasion. Featuring run time generated tactical missions with innovative simultaneous combat action; the genre is also enhanced with strong RPG elements, offering a quite unique mix of strategic ideas.

RPG - Your soldiers will improve as they gain more experience. Their skills are derived from these statistics, and each point that you put into any one of these attributes will have a noticeable effect on that soldier's skills. These attributes are: Strength, Agility, Dexterity, Willpower, Intelligence, and Perception

Strategy - You must manage your bases, interceptions, and squads. Territory is equal to power in the game - the more you control, the better your interceptor coverage. Also, the faster you research, the better things could be.

Tactics - Fighting on the ground against aliens and mutants for the control of territories. Once you control a territory, you can decide what type of base you want there: Research, Military, Manufacture or Biomass repulsion.

Combat - Unique combat system features all of the best elements of both turn-based and real-time combat systems. You give orders while the game is paused to avoid the frantic rush of a real time system. While in pause you can give your troops very detailed orders taking as much time as you like. Once you are finished you simply start the game and continue playing. Once the game is underway you can pause the game at any point to update or change your orders and the game will automatically pause when important events occur, so that you may modify your plans accordingly. This combat is combining the finely grained tactics of a turn-based game with the realism of a real time system.

Key features:

* Simultaneous combat (mentioned above)
* Randomly generated tactical missions - each playing field will be unique meaning no two games are the same
* Intricate, rich and frightening alien setting displayed in full 3D
* Over 100 varied mission objectives
* 70 plus unique weapons
[Cenega]***Combines global strategy with small squad tactical combat in the fight against an alien invasion. It features run-time generated tactical missions, completely in 3D, with innovative simultaneous action combat, strong RPG elements and strategy game on the planetary level.

Toki no Tabibito: Time Stranger  Kemco1986Toki no Tabibito: Time Stranger is a game based on an anime dealing with time traveling. You are a time cop fleeing into the past where you meet and talk with historically important Japanese persons. You talk to them by answering yes or no and thus influencing Japanese history. The game is short but has lots of replay value with different endings depending on your answers throughout the time zones. Enjoyable if you understand Japanese and Japanese history and you are interested in "what if" scenarios. Graphically with only a dozen or so pictures there is not much to speak of.

2009-12-14 on Steam, as "The Void", by ND Games (lang: eng)***Tension – a survival adventure game, in which you have to stay alive in the hostile world of Void and to get out from it as quick as possible. The choice is either to support life in its horrifying Hunters or its mournful girls or strip them of it. The way you pass through The Void is the way it changes. The way it reflects upon you.

The surrealistic world of Tension is based on a single resource that grants the ability to live and act – Lympha. Each color of Lympha possesses its own character and unique properties – both useful and dangerous. Only Lympha gives life, but it can take it back as well. Hunters' blood, captured creature, gracious girls, tree brought to life, just everything is the source of Lympha. Any action you take: battling an enemy, talking to a Sister, hunting, searching, traveling – the price in exchange is Lympha.

The dynamic, interactive environment and the severe resource shortage constantly put the player into unexpected circumstances. Although the player is free to use any colors any time he should mind his global strategy, since the finale will turn out the way the world is painted. The gameplay in Tension is non-linear the ending (one of the 11) depends on the color and the amount of Lympha used.

Features:

* Lympha – the unified resource: the currency, the hero's health, armory and inventory, the character's stat system and the world settings.
* All the actions are done via drawing by Lympha. The amount of Lympha used influences the effectiveness of the result.
* The diversity of gameplay based greatly on random appearance and distribution of resources.
* 7 colors of Lympha are of the same value of nutrition, but produce a different effect in the same situations, if used.
* Each color of Lympha can benefit and each can harm. The player can take advantage of a color, though even a drop of any color can change the world of the Gap.

The Summoning SSI;Softgold Computerspiele (Event Horizon Software)1992Yes, the character has limited capacity _and_ the game world has limited supplies _and_ there is no back tracking. Forcing players to choose very carefully which items they want to carry to the next level and exactly when to use said items or not. Failure to have the right items can put the game in an unwinnable state. Magic regen is extremely slow. There is a cheat patch for this game that does nothing except speed up Magic regen. Many consider this game to be near unbeatable (even with the regen cheat) yet magic regen is the only cheat anybody has bothered to create.***

[b]dementia[/b] - the protagonist is clearly insane, seeing himself as literal monster when he enters an adrenaline induced rage, during which he can tear his enemies limb from limb. Others do not see the monster, though. Also considering the final boss is a manifestation of his hate, the events of that fight are rather questionable. There are also other people who are more or less insane, such as Dr. Killjoy.
[b]outlaw protagonist[/b] - possibly framed, but this isn't established solidly in the first game. The sequel seemed to expand on this.

[Box blurb]***I seem to recall that one of the "evil bastards" implied that the protagonist was responsible for all the shit going on.

The game blocks normal printscreen key usage, so taking screenshots of any kind requires 3rd party software which I personally don't have or know of any that don't add ads to the screenshots such as Fraps.

The Stanley Parable Galactic Cafe2013 Mac OS Xlabelminimizeminimize

9 de 10***The Stanley Parable is a first person exploration game. You will play as Stanley, and you will not play as Stanley. You will follow a story, you will not follow a story. You will have a choice, you will have no choice. The game will end, the game will never end. Contradiction follows contradiction, the rules of how games should work are broken, then broken again. This world was not made for you to understand.

But as you explore, slowly, meaning begins to arise, the paradoxes might start to make sense, perhaps you are powerful after all. The game is not here to fight you; it is inviting you to dance.

Based on the award-winning 2011 Source mod of the same name, The Stanley Parable returns with new content, new ideas, a fresh coat of visual paint, and the stunning voicework of Kevan Brighting. The Legend of Kyrandia: Malcolm's Revenge  Virgin (Westwood)1994Everyone blamed evil jester Malcolm for his deeds, how he turned everyone to stone (which was true), and how he killed King and the Queen (which is absolutely not true, and you'll prove that). The game has three different endings, and at the end credits, you'll see how the Westwood Team combined with painted Malcolm. It's crazy marvelous. Now, it's your turn to tell the world your side of the truth. You will be helped by your bad memories aided by unconsciousness, and later in the game, you'll be determined to choose between the good and the bad one. This game has many paths; you can go to the jungle in six different ways: as a Pegasus, via the magic carpet, as a desguised fish-circus captain, ... you follow me? The graphics are advanced from the first two games, and the music is not the mystic one, but this music is really a happy type of music. Anyway, it suits with the game and Malcolm's jokes. Now, you start at the end of the first part. You remember when Brandon turned you into stone (as you did to every villager on this island), and finally, the moment of glory comes. The thunderbolt strikes you, and pushes you pretty far. But at least you're alive, and with a full bag of tricks. Take a few neccessary things from the nearby garbage, and visit Kyrandia again. Have fun!***

The Dig LucasArts1995A group of scientists discovers an asteroid that is on its way to a collision with the Earth. Is there any way to prevent the disaster? Boston Low, a NASA veteran, is sent to command a space expedition on the asteroid. Accompanied by the journalist Maggie Robbins and the archaeologist Brink, Boston investigates the asteroid and finds a strange structure that undoubtedly belongs to an alien civilization. During the course of investigations, the team finds itself on a seemingly deserted planet. They have no knowledge of the planet and no possibility of going back. Will they ever discover the secret of this strange world and find a way to get home?

The Dig is a point-and-click adventure game with a simple one-cursor interface. Most of the puzzles are inventory-based, tending to be somewhat more complex than in most preceding LucasArts' adventure games. There are also a few logic-based puzzles, which require understanding and manipulation of alien technology and life forms on the planet. Traditional branching dialogue system is utilized; however, the game focuses more on puzzle-solving than on conversations to advance the plot.

The game's story is influenced by science fiction literature and movies, and strives to be realistic, departing from the comedy style of LucasArts' adventures. Despite that, humorous elements are present in some of the dialogues and text descriptions. The game utilizes hand-drawn graphics with a few pre-rendered 3D images.***[media=youtube]jRMGxQCitRU[/media]***

7 de 10***The year is 1962 and the Cold War has the nation gripped by fear. A top-secret government unit called The Bureau begins investigating a series of mysterious attacks by an enemy more powerful than communism. As agent Carter, call the shots, pull the trigger and lead your squad in a gripping third-person tactical shooter set within a covert war to protect humanity from an otherworldly enemy.***The plot has a tragic logical fallacy about the Bureau performing a complete erasing of the truth of what happened, except the invasion was global and they had no control over what happened in other countries and the amount of secrecy they held over the event (likely poor/none in several), yet it's said no evidence of the invasion was left to the public.
