More dungeons, more towns and instead of a single character you control a party of four characters. Standard dungeon crawler elements everywhere. A bit more story or surprising elements would have been good. In every regard an average game for fans of that particular RPG sub-genre only.***Deep Dungeon III: Yūshi he no Tabi is the third installment in the Deep Dungeon series and the first to be released on the Famicom. This is the first Deep Dungeon title to offer the player a world to explore spanning multiple dungeons and multiple towns. It also allows the player to create their own party with up to three companions in addition to the hero character, with a choice of ranger, magician or priest for each character. Though the player can dismiss a character once the game has started, they will only be able to replace that character if they meet another pre-created playable character in one of the dungeons. However, the game will still end as soon as the protagonist "swordsman" character is defeated. This game retains the player-adjustable level-up stats from the first game, as well as the feature that removes randomized encounters if the player is at a significantly higher experience level than needed for their current location. One exclusive and rather annoying feature of this game engine is that sometimes the player character will fumble (remove) their equipped weapon, wasting that character's turn. If the player wishes to re-arm their weapon, it will cost the player another turn. This is the only game in the series to award the player money (Gold) when defeating enemies. All other games will force the player to re-enter maps to collect respawning chests for money or items (for resale) if they want to gold farm.

It's actually quite a different game and resembles [url=http://www.uvlist.net/game-7949-Zelda+II+The+Adventure+of+Link]Zelda II[/url] quite a lot. Faxanadu was the third game of the "Dragon Slayer" game series appearing on the Famicom and it was by far the best one so far, beating [url=http://www.uvlist.net/game-7944-Legacy+of+the+Wizard]Legacy of the Wizard[/url] and [url=http://www.uvlist.net/game-159602-Romancia]Romancia[/url] in terms of fair gameplay. Faxanadu is relatively linear and not as unforgiving as the former titles. I also liked the graphics. They lacked a bit in colors, but are detailed and quite atmospheric.***

[100]***The world is out of balance; the elements are in revolt. Four young heroes, each with a darkened orb, must restore order to this chaotic world. Swords and sorcery will aid them on their quest; on this final fantasy.***Considering this game was released before Dragon Quest 3, I might say this was the best console RPG on the market at its time, with the exception of [url=http://www.uvlist.net/game-19754-Phantasy+Star]Phantasy Star[/url] perhaps. Graphics and music were very good, you could choose between plenty of character classes and the game told a good story. Today the random encounter rate with all those monster fights might seem too high, but this was a normal thing with early RPG's.***Published in Brazil, catalog number "NES-FF-BZL" is unconfirmed.

Trivia:
In the original Japanese version, Link's grave could be found. Nintendo published both Dragon Warrior and its rival [, this game Final Fantasy] in the USA. They changed a grave to Erdrick's, a hero from the Dragon Warrior game. Later editions for other systems restored Link's grave.***The NES game that started it all. Although heavily hyped by Nintendo at the time of its release, nobody could ever have predicted the soaring heights the series would eventually reach in the minds and hearts of gamers. This game probably did more to advance the cause of console RPGs than perhaps any other - which is surprising in retrospect, as the first FF is a stunningly average game. It has virtually none of the depth or character development that later games - including the two other Japanese-only Famicom/NES releases - would later make the hallmark of the FF name. The combat system is nice, but there's better out there for the NES. Plus, it gets annoying after a while, since you're having encounters at just about every step, especially in the later dungeons. All in all, look at the first Final Fantasy as the grade-schooler's notebook sketchings that eventually lead her to become a great artist.

Relesed December 18, 1987 by Square in Japan and 1989 by Nintendo in the US.***Yeah sure, it looks like crap by today's standards, the story is almost non-existant, there is zero character development, the music is... well... it's an NES for god's sake! But this was my first Japanese RPG (you have no idea how long I had to save my allowance for this) and nothing you say can make me hate it. NOTHING!

There is a really good Final Fantasy One hack called [i]Final Fantasy ++[/i] and its sequel [i]Final Fantasy ++ World of Chaos[/i]. If you're a fan of the game, it's definately worth checking out.

It features:

* Redone graphics. (Mostly ripped from later games in the series.)
* Redone enemies. (Many are new; some are returning enemies with new properties.)
* Redone magic spells. (Magic is now divided into White, Black, and Time Magic.)
* Redone weapons and armor. (Some armors now increase evasion rather than lowering it!)
* Redone maps. (Most are similar to the original game’s; some are totally new.)
* Redone character class system. (See Read Me.txt for details.)
* Two new pieces of music. (Adapted from Final Fantasy 4.)
* Some other relatively minor stuff.

This is the second game in Square's popular Final Fantasy series. It was released only in Japan (the Japanese Final Fantasy IV was released as Final Fantasy II in the U.S.). The game emphasizes the storyline more than the first game: four young refugees from a conquered kingdom join a rebel movement in hopes of striking back at their oppressors. Players must engage in conversion collecting key words to ask key people about in order to advance the plot. Character's have identities and personalities unlike in FF1. This is emphasized by character portraits of all the player characters, the fact that there are many player characters that come and go as their role in the plot dictates, and the frequent use of player characters' names by NPC's. Familial relationships between characters are also frequently noted. The graphics aren't terribly advanced beyond FF1's, but the experience system was completely revamped. Instead of gaining EXP and levels, the heroes gain points in the abilities that they use. Attacking a lot increases strength. Getting hit a lot increases defense. Casting the Fire spell a lot increases the spell's power. Using an axe increase axe fighting ability. An interesting concept (usually reserved for computer RPGs), but one that makes for a difficult game (as long as the endemic exploits of this game's system are not utilized). A translation to English patch for the ROM is available.

[Zerothis]***Sequel of the successful Final Fantasy. It has a really good storyline and a new system where you have to improve abilities/skills by using them, instead of gaining XP and levels in the traditional way. Still a good RPG, but I really didn't like the way the skill system seduced you to find ways to make leveling up easier by e.g. hitting your own party members. It somehow ruined the whole pace of the game.

The Tower of Druaga  Namco1985Some may call "Tower of Druaga" an Action-RPG, I call it a clever maze game with usable extra items. Your goal on each floor is to find the exit. Besides that you have to find a treasure chest on each level, which often gives you a bonus item, which might become invaluable in later levels. Here is also my biggest complaint about this game. Besides the repetitive nature of such maze games the appearance of treasure chests is often triggered by certain events like killing a special enemy on the floor. Missing treasure chests on the first floots might make a much later floor nearly unplayable, which is a bit unfair system. Graphically the game is average. Since it is an early Famicom game the mazes don't come in many shapes and looks. NESlabelimageminimize

[27]***A Link to the Past (LTP throughout) was a ground-breaking game for the Zelda series. Besides being the first Zelda for the SNES, it was the first to have a semi fleshed-out plot. By semi fleshed-out, I mean something more than collect crystals and kill Ganon. Instead, it had a retrieve 3 pendants, collect the 'Master Sword,' kill Agahnim, _then_ collect crystals and [spoiler]kill Ganon (revealed to be Agahnim's alter-ego).[/spoiler]
Despite my sarcasm, I actually enjoyed (and continue to enjoy) this game having beaten it at least 15 times and I still keep coming back for more. The wonderfully engaging plot (mentioned above) actually takes place *before* the first 2 Zeldas, and so is technically a prequel. The game-play departs from the Zelda 2 RPG style, and returns to it's roots as a top-view adventure game with RPG elements. Unlike the first Zelda, communication plays a fairly important role in this installment. There are friendly, non-cavedwelling NPC's that you can, indeed are required, to get information from. Some play an important role, some are there just to annoy the living shnike out of you. Fighting is still basicly the same as in the original, as is the heart and money system. However, the overworld/dungeon system has changed drastically with the addition of an in-game map that actually shows important locations. i.e. Where you are, where you need to go, and enough detail to make getting there possible.***The Zelda Link to the Past [[link:http://www.romhacking.net/hacks/170/ Master Quest]] hack has brand new dungeons, overworlds, music, etc.

Description: "You have been sent by the Irishman to investigate a modern Eamon that he has heard about. You are told that there will be many subtle changes, and you promise to try many things, and to be on the watch for new stuff. Among other things, you suspect that the old spells may be completely new, that the battles surely have been extensively reworked, and that the 'LOOK' command no longer will find hidden doors. You can INVENTORY your friends now, and HEAL them too. You set out, eager to see what can be seen!

"This adventure is designed to show this version's features. There are 18 rooms, 141 artifacts, 2 effects, & 763 monsters. Most of the artifacts and monsters are 'dummies' that do not exist within the adventure, but were added in order to demonstrate the speed of the search routines. The vast majority of the monsters are in the form of 'group-monsters', including a 750-man army. Among the things that you will want to check out are examining, inventorying, and healing monsters. Your spell ability decreases with use, but will regenerate over time. A monster now knows which weapon is 'his' when he drops it. Some artifacts have new fields, and the monster fields have been redone. There is a new artifact type: 'wearable'. This includes clothing, shields, and armor. Note that the special fields for this type are in place for the sake of standardization, but are not presently implemented."



Comment: When I wrote my first Eamon, I had a simply awful time figuring out how stuff worked. The method I used to learn it all was to analyze John Nelson's "Temple of the Trolls" and thus learn from example. When I wrote the v7.0 MAIN PGM, I wanted to save people the trouble that I had, so I wrote this demo, which as far as I know demonstrates everything you can do with a standard v7.0 Eamon MAIN PGM and database. Most of the artifact and monster descriptions give programming and database info, for easy reference.

Note that this Demo uses the very earliest v7.0 MAIN PGM. You should not use this program with new data files, but should always use the latest MAIN PGM available on the v7.1 DDD.

Baraduke  Namco1985Baraduke is an action shooter game where the player takes control of a spacewoman (player 1 is Kissy and player 2 is Takky) moving around in a low-gravity environment with the help of a jet pack, as they investigate the once-peaceful Planet Paccet, which has been taken over by aliens known as Octy.

The game consists of eight stages, each stage is split up into six floors, with five regular floors and a boss floor. In the first four floors in each stage, the player must clear the floor of Octy, then they can exit the level through a chute located at the outside walls of the level. In the second last floor, there are no Octy but lots of capsules, which can hold one of four things: a yellow coin object which gives the player 100 points, a ray gun that increases gun level by one, a Paccet, which can earn you extra shield in the end-of-floor bonus games or the Bagan, which is a Pac-Man-like creature that will attack the player.
