[Blizzard]***If you're even thinking about buying Diablo 2, then say goodbye to family, friends, and your job. Run away to Mexico if you have to, because Diablo 2 is too good. It's one of those games that keep you awake at night. It makes you think about gold and magic items while your working. You'll miss entire meals for this game. It's so good it's scary.
That's right, folks, evil is back, and badder than ever. Your job, again, is to stop evil from destroying the world. You do it by hacking millions of demons and goblins to pieces, gaining experience, and finding magical items. Basically, this is the formula for the entire game, and it's more fun than should be allowed by law.

Black & White  Electronic Arts (Lionhead Studios)2001In a perfect world, people wouldn't need gods. But perfect worlds can't exist and sooner or later someone, in trouble, desperate, will pray to the heavens. This is what happens in the beginning of Black & White.

Your new tribe bow before you in awe, and from this moment your prayer power starts to grow. As you carry out godly acts, the belief in you rises and more and more people are convinced that worshipping you in the way forward. But you can be good or evil. You may choose to rule the world as you wish.

As you grow in power, you acquire a Creature, a wondrous being capable of doing anything you can do. Capable of learning and being trained and capable of making his own decisions. The people of Eden, whether they believe in you or not, can't failed to be impressed by this beast, and more are swayed to your cause through their admiration of the Creature and the god that owns him.

But on other lands there are other gods. They have their own Creatures and their own followers. You must vie with them for power. You must use your Miracles, your Creature and your cunning to steal followers from these gods, and to do battle between the Creatures for supremacy.

The ultimate goal is the Creed. Elements of these live within each Creature, and he who controls the parts of the Creed can control the whole land of Eden.

You may do well. You may sway the minds of the tribes, but can you gather the parts of the Creed? Can you defeat the god of gods, the enemy of enemies? Can you defeat your Nemesis and rule over the whole world? That is a question only you, and only time will answer.***Latest version: 1.3 (as of ?)***Minimum:

Gothic  Egmont Interactive;Xicat Interactive (Piranha Bytes)2001This nice German developed RPG adventure is set against the backdrop of a landscape savaged by war, the King of the human territories must find enough ore to forge weapons for his army to use in defence against the Orc Hordes. The King's mines are set in a large magical sphere and are worked by prisoners captured from across the kingdom. And it is into this sphere that you are thrown, charged with the task of delivering a letter – a letter that might just mark the turning point in the war against the Orcs. The Gothic world is constantly changing and evolving: events will occur that can alter the relationships between several groups of characters. NPCs are fully rounded with their own daily habits and relationships: they get up, work, go to bed, chat with each other and so on. More significantly, monsters cooperate with each other and are able to figure things out; they have individual perception. Some can be lured with food or noise, some will run away from bright light. Some can only hear or detect movement. Each character has the ability, with the correct training, to improve particular skills as the game progresses: training with the master of the sword, for example, will result in a character displaying noticeably more skilled swordsmanship. It is so much more satisfying to witness the effect of the skills you have learnt when they are visible in your character as oppose to a meaningless number rating, improving say, from 8 to 10. These 'optical' improvements are for the whole range of skills included in Gothic. The two different classes of magic (which are absolutely independent from each other) work along the same lines.***

Dragonshard  Atari (Liquid Entertainment)2005Latest version: 1.2.1 (as of 2006-02?), 1.2.1b for US version***Dragonshard is a real-time strategy experience based in the mystical world of Eberron, the acclaimed new DUNGEONS & DRAGONS realm. Within this wholly imaginative setting lives an inventive gameplay fusion: dramatic RTS play is affected by the risks and rewards of a thrilling RPG-styled underworld. As players direct troops over the land, they also plunge smaller, hero-led parties below ground to an RPG-modeled world of beasts, battles and bounty. Experience and items gained in this underworld result in great powers and abilities above ground. Using magic, weaponry and skilled maneuvers, players command armies from varying races to control, protect - or destroy - the powerful Heart of Siberys. Obtaining this omnipotent artifact will unleash its full forces, good or evil, upon the entire world.

"Dragonshard is deliberately designed to do away with such slow-paced genre tropes in favour of spectacular action and a seamless, involving world."

This title is a unique mixture of 3D Action/Horror that blends an immersive interactive story with intense, high-adrenaline action. In the year 1878, the mysterious Dr. Morhead built a laboratory on the remote Soreo Isle and started his experiments on human/animal hybrid genetics, violating the very foundations of nature. His work was aimed at the creation of animals that look, feel and behave more like humans. He created bizarre never-before seen creatures, ModBeasts, Humanimals and Brutes, each kind with unique abilities, tactics and firepower.

After many years of hard labor bringing his desires into reality, Dr. Morhead achieved remarkable results in giving animals a human look, but there was one thing he did not take into account: animals are born as the children of nature, so their powerful bodies retained wild souls. The creatures' true nature could not be concealed forever, and the day came when Dr. Morhead fell prey to his own creations.

Years later, this island was visited by the H. M. S. Spider and a party of sailors went ashore and first found nothing but some small, indigenous wildlife...until they met the real inhabitants of Soreo Isle. The mysterious world of Vivisector consists of a more than sixteen huge levels, pitting players against the wild unpredictable natives of Soreo Isle while struggling their way through lush tropical jungles, deep woods and snowy mountains.

The player travels through the game world and fights against enemies in the real-time mode. In a general sense Planet Alcatraz can be portrayed as a non-linear adventure with lots of shooting. Several genres are mixed in this game but despite that fact it isn't stuck between them and appears to be a classical RPG that is based on a specially developed system.

The action takes place on prison planet Alcatraz. Its inhabitants are inveterate criminals that were banished there for the life term for their terrible crimes. The main objective of the game is to control a sabotage group that consists of the only one person in the beginning and enlarges through the game. The player has to use all sorts of resources and means to accomplish the mission.

The developers have endeavored to portray Tolkien world as accurately as possible even to the point of implementing permanent death. However NPC and monster will almost never kill a player and player killers will suffer great consequences. Choice of race determines where a player starts in the game. Though not to full scale, the game world is huge and has countless dangers in between settlements. Races will be likely remain separated except for certain communities between them and rare fellowships that travel great distances, like the books.

Vivendi Universal Games and Turbin were developing Middle Earth Online for Sierra On-Line. Vivendi left the project. Sierra On-Line formed their Yosemite Entertainment division and transfered all their experienced artists to it. Sierra then had Yosemite Entertainment fire all its employees. Codemasters hired nearly all of Yosemite Entertainment's former employees. Turbin made a deal with Midway and Codemasters to publish this game. And finally, the name was changed.

Turning Point: Fall of Liberty  Codemasters (Spark Unlimited)2008"War becomes more personal than ever... through the eyes of a civilian"

Turning Point™: Fall of Liberty sees World War II take a catastrophic turn as a superior Nazi force attacks New York and goes on to take over the United States.

Delivering both wartime authenticity and a fresh perspective through an intense, action-driven storyline, Turning Point: Fall of Liberty makes war personal and relevant. Presenting this scenario as a powerful and realistically crafted alternate history, Turning Point: Fall of Liberty delivers an explosive First Person Shooter experience in a world where famous real-world locations appear startlingly different under Nazi occupation.

"Resist an unstoppable occupying force on your own soil."

What if the United States never entered WWII until WWII came knocking at its front door? What if you were among the last of the resistance, struggling almost single-handedly to hold back the tide of US occupation by the Nazi war machine?

* Witness the Third Reich’s epic takeover of the United States
* Fight the Occupation in New York, Washington DC, and London
* Make a difference as an American Resistance hero
* Battle an unstoppable Axis army loaded with post-war weapons
* Use the surroundings with unique environmental kills, multiple grapples, and human shields!
* Online Multiplayer, more details coming soon...
* Stunning soundtrack from renowned composer Michael Giacchino, famous for Lost, Ratatouille, "Alias" and Mission: Impossible III, among many others

In Turning Point’s alternate reality, the untimely death of Winston Churchill in 1931 leads to the fall of Great Britain and Europe as they surrender to Hitler in 1940. From this pan-European power base, the German war machine re-equips itself to launch an unstoppable takeover of the United States.

As a civilian caught in the middle of these new battlegrounds, fight afresh against the world’s most notorious war machine on the streets of Manhattan, Washington DC, and beyond. Use guerrilla tactics and the surroundings to overcome superior post-war Axis weaponry and fight the Occupation.

You are Dan Carson, a New York construction worker. You’ve watched as war enveloped the globe for over a decade and Europe fell to Nazi rule. Russia is now occupied, as are large areas of Asia. An uneasy alliance between the Germans and Japanese persists.

The Nazis now look to the United States – the last major prize in their pursuit of world domination.

New York is hit first as an overwhelming Nazi army invades. Zeppelins are the battleships, the blimps are the landing craft and the rooftops of downtown Manhattan are the beaches. Armed paratroopers descend on to the streets; the city is taken block by block.

Nothing worse than playing almost through the game and the save getting corrupted for whatever reason (such as BSOD). The saves are stored in `
%APPDATA%/Ubisoft/Assassin's Creed/Saved Games/
´.***Latest version: 1.02 (as of 2008-05-14)***The story starts with Desmond Miles being kidnapped in 2012 by Abstergo Industries and put into the Animus machine, a device capable of drawing out genetic memories and allowing the user to re-live their ancestors' lives. For Desmond, this is the life of Altaïr Ibn La-Ahad (الطائر), an assassin who lived during the Third Crusade in 1191. Although the story skips the kidnapping and starts with Desmond jagged into the Animus and experiencing some synchronization issues with it.

The game is difficult to categorize and abundantly lampshaded by the fact that most of the game takes place inside the Animus which has been created to produce a video game like experience, so effectively you're playing a video game inside a video game. And the experience produced by the Animus is an abstraction of sorts with various alterations that make it easier for the user to operate it, such as translating all languages to plain English and so forth. So any inconsistencies with reality are due to that, and since memories aren't exactly logical 1 to 1 copies of reality, much illogical instances can occur, some of which can be interpreted to mean some very strange things.

Things you may need to replay the whole game for:
In memory block 4, you have a chance to pickpocket Vidic to get his security pen. This opportunity does not represent itself and replaying the memory block later does not roll back time in the "real world".

After the credits you gain access to the conference room where you need Vidic's pen to access a computer, but there's nothing else after that besides your ability to replay the memory blocks and aim for 100% completion (collecting all the flags, killing the templars, scouting, and doing all the side tasks).
***Minimum:

Besides that, the concepts and gameplay elements they've invented up are quite refreshing, but don't do much in the light of the bugs that prevent you from enjoying it.

After crashing or otherwise exhibiting bugs, it is good idea to exit the game and delete Alone_Data_DFE folder and possibly drm_dyndata_*.dll file in the system temp folder. Order of War  Square Enix (Wargaming.net)2009EAN-13:
5060121825703
(UK)***ORDER OF WAR features massive-scale battles brought to life with a cinematic intensity never seen before in a WWII strategy game. Players take command of an entire army including ground troops, artillery, tank divisions and aircraft in all-out strategic assaults. The single-player mode can be played out in two campaigns - American versus German forces on the western front and German versus Russian on the eastern front. Missions will be based on key historic events and operations from 1944. In the summer of 1944, the Second World War entered its end-game when the Allies launched two major operations that would drive back German forces on both the Western and Eastern Fronts at once. In the ultimate test of military strategy, ORDER OF WAR challenges you not only to lead America's finest to victory in the west, but also place you in command of German forces charged with repelling the Red Army’s seemingly unstoppable offensive in the east. Even the keenest military minds will find that it's one thing to make history, but quite another to change it. Do you have what it takes to command? Experience WWII warfare on an epic, cinematic stage; that truly captures the intensity and scale of the battlefield. Command of an entire armed force consisting of up to 1,000 soldiers, tanks, armored vehicles, artillery and air planes. Disciples III: Renaissance  Akella;Strategy First;Kalypso Media Digital (.dat)2009A new stage in the evolution of the turn-based strategy genre. Retaining the strengths of previous titles in the series, Disciples III introduces new features to create truly exciting gameplay.

Disciples III continues and improves upon the core concepts of the Disciples series. Advances in gameplay and the addition of new elements will make the game richer and more interesting. The visual design follows the original ominous and gloomy style of the Disciples world, but now the entire game environment and every individual unit is in full 3D. The combat system will be significantly improved by adding new elements. Disciples III allows a Lord to use spells on the battlefield. Casting utilizes mana, magic energy that is acquired from controlled sources, plus spell cards that can be bought or found. Travel on a global map will be implemented as in Disciples II - via a point & click system. Now, you can also split groups at any time, and units will be able to travel without an accompanying Leader. New terrain features will also be added - rivers and gullies that can be crossed by bridges or by flying aboard an aircraft.

Work on the project was started in the summer of 2005. The game uses .dat's in-house Virtual Dream engine, which supports all modern 3D technologies such as vertex and pixel shaders, normal maps, skeletal, morphic and procedural animations, particle systems, dynamic lights and shadows, portal technology, image post-processing, etc.

Key Features:

* Three playable races: The Empire, The Legions of the Damned and the Noble Elves; each has unique units and city design
* Cities are now represented in full 3D, and the player will see selected buildings through the eye of a building-centered camera
* At the strategic level, unit turns will be affected with an initiative factor that will dictate turns at the unit level, meaning increased fluidity in multiplayer and less downtime in single-player
* Leaders get improved abilities and you can assign stat bonuses to your liking. An RPG-style system will be implemented for the character advancement system, with inventory, expanded stats and abilities, and a character model that will visually reflect equipped armor, weapons and artifacts

Global Agenda Hi-Rez Studios2010To summarize my view of what Global Agenda is: Sci-fi [game=#157590]Guild Wars[/game], even though that isn't exactly accurate.***GLOBAL AGENDA is a fast-paced action MMO using Unreal® Engine 3 set in Earth's near future, a spy-fi world of advanced technology and player-driven conflict.

In the wake of severe global disaster, the political face of 22nd century earth has changed and player-created factions scheme against each other for power. Traditional full-scale wars a thing of the past, factions must rely on covert agencies, teams of elite special operatives able to seize and defend key facilities. The future of humanity is their battleground, where knowledge is power, technology is a race, and everyone has an agenda.

The players control the world of Global Agenda, forging alliances with their peers and executing lightning strikes against their enemies. They determine which factions to aid and which to oppose, while the only thing that stands in their way is other agencies.

* Develop your agent - Create, extensively customize, and improve your agent character over the course of your career, complimenting your FPS skills with RPG-style progression and high-tech gear.
* Advance your agency - Join a player-created agency, compete in technology races for advanced equipment, and capture critical locations to increase your influence in the world.
* Compete in fast-paced PvP combat - Work with your allies to gather reconnaissance data, then raid or capture enemy-controlled facilities during objective-based missions. Equip yourself from a powerful array of weapons, armor, and strategic devices like triggered explosives, deployable turrets, stealth suits, holographic decoys, and remote control robots.
* Experience a dynamic, player-driven world - Agency leaders navigate through a global conflict of other player-run groups, striving to reach their goals first. Territory, resources, technology, and influence are all valuable commodities, with agencies engaging in politics, intrigue, and outright deception to control them.

The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim  Bethesda Softworks (Bethesda Game Studios)2011Special Edition does little else than overhaul the graphics a little bit and bundle all the DLC, biggest change is moving from 32 bit to 64 bit but this does not change the game.

Dishonored Bethesda Softworks (Arkane Studios)2012This game is incorrectly categorized as Steampunk in various places, please do not spread that error here. Dieselpunk is much more appropriate as everything is powered with whale oil.***Dishonored is an immersive first-person action game that casts you as a supernatural assassin driven by revenge. With Dishonored’s flexible combat system, creatively eliminate your targets as you combine the supernatural abilities, weapons and unusual gadgets at your disposal. Pursue your enemies under the cover of darkness or ruthlessly attack them head on with weapons drawn. The outcome of each mission plays out based on the choices you make.

Story:
Dishonored is set in Dunwall, an industrial whaling city where strange steampunk- inspired technology and otherworldly forces coexist in the shadows. You are the once-trusted bodyguard of the beloved Empress. Framed for her murder, you become an infamous assassin, known only by the disturbing mask that has become your calling card. In a time of uncertainty, when the city is besieged by plague and ruled by a corrupt government armed with industrial technologies, dark forces conspire to bestow upon you abilities beyond those of any common man – but at what cost? The truth behind your betrayal is as murky as the waters surrounding the city, and the life you once had is gone forever.

Key features:
Improvise and Innovate
Approach each assassination with your own style of play. Use shadow and sound to your advantage to make your way silently through levels unseen by foes, or attack enemies head-on as they respond to your aggression. The flexible combat system allows you to creatively combine your abilities, supernatural powers and gadgets as you make your way through the levels and dispatch your targets. Improvise and innovate to define your play style.
Action with Meaning

Teleport for stealth approaches, possess any living creature, or stop time itself to orchestrate unearthly executions! Aliens: Colonial Marines  Sega (Gearbox Software;TimeGate Studios;Nerve Software)2013Has been received extremely poorly, here's few things that go over why:
* http://www.destructoid.com/so-who-the-hell-did-make-aliens-colonial-marines--244939.phtml
* http://www.destructoid.com/gearbox-lied-about-aliens-from-e3-demo-to-retail-product-244966.phtml
* http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6lGXDM3LGnk***For any Aliens fans, this game will be horribly disappointing. Despite the gratuitous fanservice from including LV-426, Hadley's Hope, Sulaco, the Derelict and its dead Jockey pilot, Hicks, and various other things from the movies, this game utterly fails to deliver on the atmosphere of the films. Alien acidic blood is only a minor annoyance, player can trivially fight the aliens in melee, the aliens themselves seem incredibly lazy, the way player can carry ~10 different weapons with separate ammo for each, extremely linear locations, and whatever else make this feel unsatisfying when you come to it expecting a proper Aliens game. The license seems almost wasted on it considering how much they deviate from what fans of the franchise would expect. If they had made this a game with no ties to Aliens franchise it would've probably been half-decent, but as it is, it fails to be what it is supposed to be. The graphics are the main point where this actually is quite good at, though for PC game they're kinda low fidelity, but nothing you wouldn't expect from a game that's published on the usual platform trio (X360/PS3/PC).

To summarize: fans of the Alien franchise, keep away. People who don't care for the franchise on the other hand, this can work as a mediocre tube shooter.

Undead - the Stormguard. Although nothing really suggests this except for that you can kill them by destroying their belt buckles, which presumably animate their dead bodies.
