UFO2Extraterrestrials: Battle for Mercury  ? (Chaos Concept)TBA WELCOME, PLAYER. HERE YOU WILL FIND OUT WHAT YOU, AS COMMANDER OF EARTH'S DEFENSE AGAINST THE ALIEN THREAT, WILL CONTROL IN THE GAME:

There are 2 main styles of game play in UFO2ET: Geoscape and Tactical Missions.

Geoscape enables you to survey alien activities on the planet's surface and in the atmosphere. Through the Geoscape interface you will be able to dispatch fighters to intercept alien vessels and you will be able to directly control your craft in real-time combat. With your missile defenses, aircraft, and aircraft carriers you will be fending off swarms of alien vessels. The Geoscape interface allows you to design and build new bases. In these bases, aircraft may be built and equipped with the advanced missiles, cannons, armor, and shield reinforcements needed to combat the UFOs menacing the planet. Your aircraft carriers may be equipped with a variety of defenses, though your fighter aircraft will always be considered their main and most powerful weapon. As commander, you will hire scientists and engineers to design and build new tools to aid you in your struggle. You will also hire, train, and equip an elite squad of soldiers and send them to investigate UFO crash sites and alien activities all over the planet. You will be able to equip your soldiers with various items to help them in their mission, including guns, rockets, grenades, lasers and other advanced weapons, armor, flying devices, medkits, and many other items.

The Tactical Mission is an essential part of the game. Somewhere in the typical UFO investigation Mission is a downed UFO full of aliens armed with powerful weapons. Their aim is to abduct, terrorize, and invade. Alien soldiers are highly trained, and thus accurate, fast, and difficult to kill. Your troops must locate and combat these aliens face to face.

UFO2EXTRATERRESTRIALS SHADOWS OVER EARTH FEATURES:

* A turn-based "I-Go-You-Go" tactical squad-based game system

Anomaly 2 11 bit studios2013In the years following the invasion of Earth in 2018, the planet is overrun by alien machines. Humankind is on the verge of extinction. Banded together in huge convoys, they search the frozen tundra for food and supplies. Since the war, the roles have been reversed: now our species seems to be the Anomaly on a machine-controlled planet. Your convoy, Commander, is called Yukon.

Anomaly 2 is a real-time strategy game that takes the tower offense concept from Anomaly Warzone Earth to a new level. Maintaining the core concepts of the original – tactical planning and the on-field Commander to support troops in combat – Anomaly 2 introduces a number of important new features:

* Morph your troops into war mechs to discover the new face of strategy: each unit has a different mech form with various abilities to help you overcome specific combat situations.
* Engage in a multiplayer experience unique to Anomaly 2: tower defense vs. tower offense. Play as the towers and destroy the humans or lead the humans to annihilate the alien towers.
* Fight across a post-apocalyptic world in a new single-player campaign that offers a more intense strategy experience than the acclaimed original.
* Carve your own path to victory and create your ultimate battle squad. With over million tactical combinations to build your squad, your options in combat are nearly endless.
* Dive into a beautifully rendered world, thanks to the team’s new and improved visual engine:
* Experience alternative endings dependent upon your approach to enemy machines in the campaign.

Frostpunk 11 bit studios2018Frostpunk is a brand-new title from the creators of This War of Mine. It’s a society survival game that asks what people are capable of when pushed to the brink of extinction. In an entirely frozen world, people develop steam-powered technology to oppose the overwhelming cold. The city’s ruler has to manage both the citizens and the infrastructure they live in. The leader’s tactical skills face challenges that will frequently question morality and the basic foundations of what we consider organized society. Optimization and resource management often clash with empathy and thoughtful decision-making. While city and society management will consume most of the ruler’s time, at some point exploration of the outside world is necessary to understand its history and present state.

What decisions will you make to ensure the survival of your society? What will you do when pushed to the limit? And...

...who will you become in the process?***

Men of War: Condemned Heroes 1C Company (1C-SoftClub)2012Men of War: Condemned Heroes tells the story of one of the infamous Soviet penal battalions during the WWII. These battalions are famous for being formed under Stalin’s "No step back!" order #227. They consisted of court-martialed officers that were given a chance to redeem their crimes, or incompetence, in blood by serving as the lowest enlisted rank in a battalion that was assigned the most dangerous tasks. These battalions’ images are surrounded by many myths, and this game tells the truth about these regiments based on real evidence from their former members.

Take command of one of these notorious companies and lead it to victory against all odds through most of the war on the Eastern front. Fight from desperate battles in 1942 in the area of Volyn in the Ukraine, to the massive operation "Bagration" in the Brest area, Magnush bridgehead and Warsaw area in Poland and finally to attacks on the German Altdam and Stettin near the end of the war.

Men of War: Vietnam 1C Company2011Men of War: Vietnam is a new game for the critically acclaimed series. The new, story-driven campaign lets you taste the explosive mix of the jungle, Hueys and rock-n-roll in 1968. The US campaign focuses on a team of elite special ops soldiers, and each one of them has a personality.

The unit includes Sergeant John Merrill, machine-gunner Jim Walsh, sniper Sonny Armstrong, grenade launcher operator Carl Dillan and combat engineer Bill Kirby. In some missions they can count only on themselves, while in the others they act together with regular US and South-Vietnamese troops. The North Vietnam campaign tells the story of two Soviet military consultants and two soldiers of the North Vietnam Army who are the only survivors of an ambush prepared by the US troops. The task of getting back to the North Vietnam territory is a difficult one – they have no means of radio communication, no wheeled vehicles, and it’s too far to make it there on foot. On their way these survivors get involved in a chain of bloodbath engagements and find themselves in the dead center of the well-known Tet offensive.

Missions range from special operations (rescuing a shot-down pilot, escorting a reporter, etc.) to full scale battles.

Key Features
* There are two sides in every story, so two new story-driven campaigns attempt to show the war from both sides.
* Breathtaking missions including an ambush on the Ho Chi Minh trail, a game of cat and mouse in the Mekong Delta, raids into Cambodia and Laos, bridge defense during the Tet offensive and more.

Exodus from the Earth  1C Company;Strategy First (Parallax Arts Studio)2008shotguns - a triple-barreled shotgun.***Latest version: retail***Exodus From the Earth is a a CyberPunk FPS taking place in 2016. Mankind believes it'll be five billion years before the Earth begins to die. However, recent findings show that the earth is living its last twenty years and the Sun is to become an ever-increasing "Red Giant", burning everything around it and turning the Earth into a lifeless hell. The population is now faced with the monumental task of either adapting human beings for living in extraterrestrial conditions, or finding an Earth-like planet where people can live.

The A.X. Corporation, which now rules the Earth, and is the largest genetic and space military engineering company, has undertaken the task of conducting research. After a while, the Corporation offered the technology that could allow human beings to survive in any alien extraterrestrial environment. On a distant planet they found a mineral from which they could produce a vaccine that would allow human beings to live in any environment. The Corporation's proposal was to inject their vaccine into every person and then move to some other planet beyond the solar system.

Despite the fact that the first experiments have been successful, the Government has been very confused being entirely dependent on the Corporation. And furthermore, nobody knows how the mineral will affect human organisms. At the same time, according to their information there was an astronaut, John Rick, who had supposedly found a so-called "Second Earth" which was a planet with an Earth-like environment. Based on secret information, John Rick returned from his space expedition and disappeared. The Intelligence Agency suspects the Corporation, headed by Jack Crizby, of removing John Rick in order to conquer all of mankind for their financial interests.

Harry Southgate, who is the head of The Intelligence Agency, has commissioned the main hero whose name is Francis Rixon, to find out what is happening inside the Corporation's confines and to get the information about the mineral and the Earth-like planet, should it really exist.

Mike Sullivan – an owl at the territory of the A.X. Corporation – is working to help Frank in reaching his goal. Mike is the Chief Security Guard of the Corporation's inside locations and his mission is to lead Frank to the head office of the A.X. Corporation where all the information might be stored.

[Zerothis]***
No encounter ever plays out the same way twice. No two gamers will ever play BioShock the same way.
This is because the game has quite rapid respawn rate (enough rapid to be irritating and making the game into forced slugfest), causing encounters to happen even if not wanted and the creatures wander around aimlessly through the levels with apparently nothing to do. They sometimes huddle over corpses as if there was something interesting there, but there really isn't (I had scavenged all valuables from those corpses long ago).

Though I have to admit that I did play it on the hardest difficulty, so maybe that's (the rapid respawn) the only way they could think of how to make it more difficult. Didn't have much chance for stealth or alternative approaches when the guys were running everywhere.

Although it was advertized that munitions were supposedly scarce, I never really ran out of them, actually I was almost constantly maxed, except in the particular weapon I had taken a liking of and after fighting swarms and swarms of suddenly script-spawning enemies or after fighting a Big Daddy (they really can take a beating).

The only ways this game is better than Quake 4, Doom 3 or the like is that it's more free roaming (though there's very little use for it), has conversations and some sort of plot twists as well as the light RPG-ness in form of weapon and plasmid upgrades.

The number of choices of approach are quite limited actually, either you shoot them or you.. well.. shoot them. Sneaking past them is usually impossible, or simply just ridiculously difficult opposed to just shooting them and the game has too many scripted sequences where you have to shoot them regardless of how you wanted to do it.

The reliance on scripted sequences for variance is too old, but gives stronger story (scripted sequences are required to have a story, but the use of them outside it is not very good). Some of the things that happened were also very retro FPS-like, for example the one case where I picked up a new gun and swarms of new Mobs were spawned so I could "test it out".

Sad little game in that regard, but can be fun if you ignore all that.

On the confrontation with Ryan, I heard a rather poor explanation for it once (if I remember it correctly, they simply assumed Ryan was raving mad). My own interpretation of it, however, is different.
Ryan first demonstrates the protagonist's dilemma, he's been "programmed" to follow orders of others, with key words activating certain behaviour and in this case, simple "please" would force the protagonist to do as was asked. Protagonist ridiculously follows Ryan's brief orders ("turn around", "run", etc.) followed by "please", until finally Ryan gives him a golf club and tells the protagonist to "kill" (please), while the protagonist is beating him to death, Ryan solemnly repeats a motto: "Man chooses, slave obeys." which he had said earlier (IIRC). This is where some might think Ryan is insane, however, to me he seems idealistic or something that the protagonist is not a slave as he was made to be (which he also demonstrated with his earlier commands), but a free man, able to choose his own actions. Unfortunately, the protagonist is unable to break through the "programming" (mind control) and finally kills Ryan.
***BioShock is a shooter unlike any you've ever played, loaded with weapons and tactics never seen. You'll have a complete arsenal at your disposal from simple revolvers to grenade launchers and chemical throwers, but you'll also be forced to genetically modify your DNA to create an even more deadly weapon: you. Injectable plasmids give you super human powers: blast electrical currents into water to electrocute multiple enemies, or freeze them solid and obliterate them with the swing of a wrench.

No encounter ever plays out the same, and no two gamers will play the game the same way.

* Biologically modify your body: send fire storming from your fingertips and unleash a swarm of killer hornets hatched from the veins in your arms.
* Hack devices and systems, upgrade your weapons and craft new ammo variants.

You are a cast-away in Rapture, an underwater Utopia torn apart by civil war. [2K Games]***In the middle of the north Atlantic, a lighthouse juts out of the water. Inside waits a rusted bathysphere, which takes you deep under the ocean to Rapture, a city sprawling along the sea floor.

A man named Andrew Ryan, a former Soviet citizen, built the city in 1946, and the society was envisioned as the ultimate capitalistic and individualist paradise, with the elite achieving for themselves, rather than for the whole. Protected by a network of giant sea walls and consisting of a cluster of enormous skyscraper-shaped hive towers, Rapture was designed to be entirely self-supporting, with all of its electricity, food production, water purification and defense systems powered by volcanic vents at the bottom of the ocean.

At one point Rapture's population numbered several thousand at its peak during the early 1960s, composed of those people Ryan viewed as the best examples of mankind. A large and tiered economy grew among the people, with different quality products catering to different levels of the society.

The grand Art Deco architecture is at once futuristic and archaic, but as you step into Rapture, you find the city a shell of itself. The walls are crumbling and the ocean is seeping in. The hallways are littered with corpses, those who were once the best and brightest of the world above are now mutated and mad, roaming the corridors and waiting to ambush you at every turn.

* Fight your way across the United States! Had enough of the windy city? Then go ahead and bomb Chicago! Invade across the Rockies into California, capture the tank factories in Ohio, and lay siege to New York City! You decide - the fate of the nation is in your hands!
* Choose to play as one of seven different factions: California Commonwealth, Pacifica, Republic of Texas, Great Plains Federation, The Confederacy, New England Alliance and the European Union.
* Call up National Guard forces equipped with M1 Abrams battle tanks, Apache helicopters and stealth bombers. Or make a deal with the Russians and equip your boys with MiG fighters and T-95 Heavy Tanks.

8 de 10***Spec Ops: The Line is a new original title from 2K Games that features provocative and gripping Third-Person modern military Shooter gameplay designed to challenge players' morality by putting them in the middle of unspeakable situations where unimaginable choices affecting human life must be made. Features include, a gripping, storyline reminiscent of Apocalypse Now and Heart of Darkness but set in a ruined Dubai, tactical squad-based Delta Force gameplay throughout a horizontally and vertically oriented world, devastating sandstorms which can be used in combat, a variety of multiplayer modes and maps, and deep support featuring two factions.

It’s been 6 months since Dubai was wiped off the map by a cataclysmic sandstorm. Thousands of lives were lost, including those of American soldiers sent to evacuate the city. Today, the city lies buried under sand, the world’s most opulent ruin. Now, a mysterious radio signal is picked-up from Dubai, and a Delta Recon Team is sent to infiltrate the city. Their mission is simple: Locate survivors and radio for Evac. What they find is a city in the grip of war. To save Dubai, they’ll have to find the man at the heart of its madness—Col. John Konrad.

Gameplay
Spec Ops: The Line is an action-packed Third-Person Shooter that delivers heart pounding physically close combat through a squad-based play mechanic. Players lead a team of three characters, Captain Martin Walker, Lieutenant Adams and Sergeant Lugo. Each character has his own distinct personality and specialized skills, and the mature story they each play a role in explores the dark side of war in a realistic way, in which there are no good outcomes, only hard choices. As missions are completed more advanced weapons and equipment are made available. In addition, the desert environment of Dubai is brought into the game in a unique way with stunning visuals, and dynamic sandstorms that actively effect level designs, and which can be used to help and hinder progress. The vertical interiors of Dubai high rise buildings also provide tactical advantages and risks that can used be by players. Multiplayer campaigns bring new modes and unusual situations and environments to expand the single player experience.

Key Features
* A new portrayal of the military shooter experience with twisting narrative uncertainties.
* Action packed 3rd Person Shooter gameplay provides an up-close and personal view into the brutality and emotion within the combat.
* Command an intelligent and powerful squad of Delta-Force soldiers in a dangerous and unpredictable combat zone.
* Cross "The Line" in a mature story that explores the dark side of war, where there are no bright outcomes, only bad or worse choices.
* Unique Dubai setting strikes the imagination and transports players to a larger-than-life playground for vertical gameplay and stunning visuals.
* Sand-filled Dubai provides new gameplay experiences including sand avalanches, and powerful, disorienting sandstorm combat.

9 de 10***Overall a nice turn-based tactical game, but might not be really up to one's expectations if you go looking for another of the old XCOM games. In short, this new XCOM game is extremely simplified and cut down version of the old X-COM with great number of features missing with only a few new ones to its name.

For those familiar with old XCOM, here's a list of differences. Notably there's missing multiple bases for the player to operate, aliens do not set up bases (there's only one alien base in the game), alien craft activity is barely existing (~13 alien craft encountered before the game was over), terror missions and similar do not involve actual enemy craft going to the sites, your soldiers can't pick up enemy gear during missions, grenades and rockets are special one-use gear instead of actual inventory items, inventory overall is severely simplified to a point where its limitations don't make sense, the game does not simulate projectile trajectories except for missed shots destroying scenery (missed shots can no longer hit secondary targets) and auto/burst fire is treated as single shot in terms of hitting or not, as such cover is simply statistical wonder instead of literal cover (shots "penetrate" the cover - with no damage to the cover - when they hit the soldier hiding behind it rather than hitting exposed bits), alien craft interception relies on one-use power ups you need to craft (though they go largely unused), aliens do not attack XCOM base(s), you can only have one skyranger hence you're specifically forbidden to complete missions that appear "simultaneously" with others (you have to choose one, the others automatically fail, their timing and duration essentially synced), interceptor and skyranger management is simplified, chrysalids and robotic aliens can not be captured and studied, aliens do not have jobs (there's only one live specimen of each species to interrogate and beyond that, nothing), battle scanner is missing, arbitrary range limitations to weapons (not allowed to shoot if target is beyond certain range), incendiary weapons are missing, stun grenades are missing, quite a few alien species are missing, levels tend to be far smaller and streamlined (with very few exceptions), action points have been replaced with simplified version that has glaring limitations, soldiers have 360 degree vision, reloading and shooting in same turn is impossible, ammunition is handwaved away completely, aliens do not have morale, taking aliens alive has little far less use, and probably quite a few other things. New features, for those that care: upgrade system accessible via the foundry, psychic damage ability, classes, class perks, two-point system, and probably some others.

Personally I think this new XCOM is good game, but just does not hold up to what the old X-COM games were about. If you want the old experience, you're better off with the old games, UFO: Extraterrestrials, UFO: Aftermath/-shock/-light, or the many fan-made remakes.

Note that I played the game through on "classic" difficulty (the one just below brutal), which may have had something to do with some of my poor opinions.***EAN-13:
5 026555 056151
(European/Worldwide)***
