7 de 10***Deluxe Edition adds 3 maps: Palazzo Medici, Santa Maria Dei Frari, and the Arsenal Shipyard. Ad speech mentions secret treasures and nothing else. Unknown if this means simply florins or actual equipment.***Undefined game-play elements: blending in with the crowd, hiring prostitutes (or others?) to serve as cover (controllable crowd) or to distract those who'd wish you harm.***Continues Desmond Miles' story right where it ended in the first game, even if Altair is no longer his alter ego inside the Animus.

Assassin's Creed II  Ubisoft (Ubisoft Montreal)2009Players 'relive' the life of an assassin during the Italian Renaissance in this open-world action adventure game. The goal is to exact revenge upon conspirators who have framed and executed loved ones; the goal is to be accomplished through assassination. As players roam the crowded streets of Florence, Italy, they can creep through catacombs and corridors, undertake diverse side-missions, and tail-and-assassinate all manner of human targets—politicians, Templar soldiers, conspirators. Players can also brawl with family rivals or engage in sword fights with Templar soldiers, but in most cases, they use stealth techniques to complete the mission; for example, players can sneak up on enemies from behind and kill them with hidden daggers, poisoned daggers, spring-activated blades, and swords. When blades connect, blood shoots out in a fountain-like manner as targets groan or scream. These stealth-kills are sometimes depicted close-up and are somewhat graphic: the camera follows the 'herky-jerky' thrusts of the blade; the player hears a distinctly 'wet' flesh-impact sound. The most graphic depictions of violence occur during cinematic cutscenes (the following two scenes do not involve players' character): A businessman, crawling away from a Templar leader, gets pinned to the ground by a sword through his neck; a young nobleman is ambushed by rivals, begs for mercy, then gets stabbed multiple times in the chest amid screams of 'Muori! Mouri! Mouri!' [Die! Die! Die!]. The spurts and sprays of blood that accompany some of the stabbing attacks can be intense.

The game contains strong sexual overtones. During one 'seduction mini-game,' players are able to press buttons to kiss a woman and remove her dress; with the woman's back facing the camera, the two characters lower to bed and blow out a candle. Some scenes take place inside brothels, though no nudity or sexual acts are depicted. The dialogue contains the following sexual references: 'So the whip or the paddle today?' and 'Does your wife know about your page-boy fantasies, Captain?' Character backstories, narrated through still-frame vignettes, explain how villains and historical figures achieved their notoriety; some biographies include references to adultery, sodomy, prostitution, and rape (e.g., 'Caterina was captured and sent to Rodrigo Borgia . . . who kept her imprisoned for a year and is rumored to have raped her alongside his son.'). One cutscene depicts a man and a woman wearing translucent, flesh-toned bodysuits as they flee from danger. The digitized lighting effects, the glow from their futuristic suits, obscure most of the details, though outlines of breasts and buttocks are partially discernable (i.e., not definitively nudity). Consumers may also wish to know that the game contains strong profanity, both in English and Italian (e.g., 'f**k,' 'sh*t,' c*zzo,' and 'm*rda'); the most explicit instance occurs when a man frantically describes a 'vision'—'I'm at the opera . . . the soprano is so beautiful . . . I'm in bed with her, she cries as I f**k her.'

Assassin's Creed II  Ubisoft (Ubisoft Montreal)2009Assassin's Creed II is the product of over two years of intensive development by the original creative team behind the Assassin's Creed brand. In a vast open world environment, the game invites players to incarnate Ezio, a privileged young noble in Renaissance Italy who's been betrayed by the rival ruling families of Italy. Ezio's subsequent quest for vengeance plunges players into an epic story that offers more variety in missions, surprising and engaging new gameplay elements, diverse weapons and a profound character progression that appeal to fans of the original Assassin's Creed as well as entice players new to the brand.***[b]data import[/b] - from [game=#171749]Bloodlines[/game] via the "Remote Play" function. BioForge Origin Systems;Electronic Arts (Origin Systems)1995In the far future, a fanatical group of religious extremists known as the Mondites have begun a campaign of galactic conquest. They believe in the evolution of man through machine by cybernetic implants. You are one of the unlucky victims: a prisoner in a Mondite complex on a distant moon, with no memory of your former life. Your body has been turned into a hideous cybernetic nightmare by the evil Dr. Mastaba. It is up to you to explore the complex (abandoned and on the verge of nuclear meltdown), discover the secrets of the Mondites and the mysterious remnants of alien civilization they've discovered, and get out alive from this moon.

BioForge is an action game with puzzle-solving, technologically similar to Alone in the Dark, featuring polygonal (and textured) characters over pre-rendered backgrounds. The adventure elements involve the hero collecting items and figuring out puzzles in order to get to new places and discover the secrets of the complex. The action elements involve combat against foes robotic and alive, both with melee weaponry and with guns, though some enemies require trickery rather than force to defeat.

Numerous journals, documents and diaries are found throughout the game; these are all recorded and can be re-read at any time.***
[22]***The ending gave me the impression of future sequels, but since there's been none, the project must've been canned (if there even ever were plans for them).

Twiddling with NV's control panel had no effect either nor the minimal options in the game itself. Therefore the cause of the issue is unknown. No other games I know suffer of similar problem to give any indication for possible solutions either. The glitch is similar to vsync tearing but instead of tearing, you have this horizontal band spanning the whole screen with no texturing for most objects, giving you a very distracting sort of x-ray vision.***Latest version: 1.2.944 (as of 2000-07-27?)***Evolva is a tactical shoot-em up which immerses the plater in a visually stunning 3D world and offers a rich and deep gameplaying experience.

Driven by Computer Artworks' A-Life technology, the player takes control of a team of customisable creatures called Genohunters. The Genohunter adapts itself by killing and then absorbing its enemies DNA, thereby allowing itself to mutate to incorporate any useful abilities it may have acquired.

Evolva mixes the excitement of a fast paced shoot-em-up with the tactical elements of a strategy game.

* Features fully interactive environments covering 12 lands across 3 continents and allows players to melt ice, torch plants, blow up rocks etc.
* Weapons include fire breath, giant claws, electricity weapons, gene disruptors, necrocytes, flammable vomit.

Final Fantasy VII  Square1997Final Fantasy VII has quickly become one of the best-selling Role Playing games of all time. Combining fully polygonal characters with pre-rendered backgrounds and a stirring musical score by Nobuo Uematsu, Final Fantasy VII is a worthwhile addition to any RPG collection. The story centers on the young mercenary Cloud Strife, who is fighting against the evil Shinra, Inc. Along the way, he meets an unforgettable cast of characters such as his childhood friend Tifa Lockhart and the grumpy pilot Cid Highwind. All together, it is an unforgettable and engrossing single-player game that can last for over 60 hours!***

[27]***Final Fantasy VII, is one of the best game avalaible for the PSX, the graphics are impressive, the sound Incredible, has more than 1 hour of Full motion Video, and the best of all the storyline is amazing, superb, if you like the RPG the you must have This game. And the VIII too.***This is personally my least favourite Final Fantasy. They did well with the conversion to 3D, but I found the lack of decent story, the bad translation, the below average graphics etc. to be quite a turn off while playing. However, on the flip side of the coin, the spell effects are unrivalled by any other game of its time. The Materia system was an interesting devlopment, but all in all the game is too unbalanced to make it a truly enjoyable experience.***As far as I'm concerned, I think the complete opposite. The graphics were in no way bad for PSX at that time. The combat system was even more balanced than in V or VI, while the story is so huge as to draw you in and flash through the amazing 30 hours of gameplay. Oh and the translation is no worse than most other Japanese RPGs, the PC version tidied this up a bit I think. Plus Sephiroth's sword is kick-butt.***Witness the birth of the 3D RPG. Well, not quite, but a gigantic game with an incredible storyline, coupled with real-time action combat that had be honed through 6 previous games. A favourite instantly, this game brought RPGs out of Japan and selling widely in the West for the first time.***This game was one of the most enveloping games I have ever played. The story was decent (to say the least), and the musical score was heartwarming. I will remember it forever.
[DeviantBlade]***FF7 is seriously overrated, and has produced more fanboys/fangirls than I'd care to count. However it's not all bad, it's pretty decent.
Just not as godly as some would make it out to be.
[Haoie]***I agree with Haoie (above). Actually, got to like the second or third disc and stopped playing. The mini-games and all the damn little secrets were starting to wear me out. I give it credit for being the RPG that brought Japanese RPGs to the masses in the West, but that's about it.

And updated to run on modern Windows OS.***Supposedly, this is not a code port. None of the original source code was used by the outside team from Hawaii that brought this game to Windows. When FF7 for PlayStation was completed, the entire team was reassigned or fired and their unique hardware was sold or dismantled. The source code was unique to the development hardware. Without the specialized hardware, the source code was not compileble or even modifiable in any useful way. Square had neither the people nor the code to do a port. All the new team had was the data specific to the PSX (barely useful) and unuseable source code. Eventually the team discovered that what they had been given was not even from the final PSX version, it was roughly rendered temporary data and pre-alpha code that had never actual been successfully compiled. And to top it off, no one on this new team had every worked on a game before. All this is known because all of the debug information (including rants and raves by the team) were unintentionally left in the executable.***First PC conversion of a Final Fantasy game that finally brought the bizarre numbering system in line in both Japan and Europe/USA.

[52]***With "Mega Man" (or "Rockman" in Japan) Capcom started one of the biggest and longest running videogame series ever. It is a very fine game indeed, especially compared to other platform games of that time. Technically well done with nice graphics, music and with very varied level designs. The first NES game is said to be terribly difficult, but that is only half-true. It might be the most difficult of the classic Mega Man games, but compared to similar games from 1987 or earlier it is nothing special. Nearly everything until then was bloody hard.***
[27]***Join the blue bomber in his first-ever adventure as he battles the evil Dr. Wily and his robotic henchmen to restore peace to a troubled world. Mega Man is a super-robot created by the genius scientist Dr. Light. When Dr. Wily goes rogue with an army of six of his own devious robot masters, it's up to Mega Man to put a stop to his nefarious plot by traversing a series of stages rife with enemies, traps and perilous platform challenges. At the end of each stage, conquer one of the robot masters and claim his weapon as your own, using it to your advantage in subsequent fights.***THE MEGA MAN STORY (from the Instruction Manual)

It's MEGA MAN versus the powerful leaders and fighting forces of Monsteropolis -- that strange multi-faceted land of robot-like Humanoids. Brilliant scientist Dr. Wright conceived the construction of fully-operational human-like experimental robots to perform specific everyday duties. Dr. Wright, and his assistant Dr. Wily, encouraged with their very first near human robot -- MEGA MAN -- proceeded to develop six additional Humanoids, all programmed to perform prescribed rituals:

CUTMAN: Designed to function as a lumberjack. A Powerful saw-toothed Scissorlike instrument protrudes from his head, capable of gnawing through giant forest timbers.

ICEMAN: Impervious to chilling sub-zero temperatures, capable of human like performances under extreme climatic conditions.

GUTSMAN: A bulldozing character capable of lifting and transporting huge boulders.

BOMBMAN: A real "blaster" as a heavy duty laborer who uses intensely powerful explosives to clear lands for Dr. Wright's construction projects.

FIREMAN: Melts and molds metals with flame-throwing torch flaring from atop his head.

ELECMAN: Dr. Wright's electrifying creation -- planned for conducting electrical operations -- even supervising nuclear power plants.

But, with the exception of MEGA MAN, all of Dr. Wright's near-human robot experimentation went awry. Assistant Dr. Wily turned disloyal, re-programming Dr. Wright's Humanoids, now bent on destroying opposition so Dr. Wily could control the world and its resources.

Resisting re-programming, MEGA MAN is chosen the defender of the universe and its inhabitants. MEGA MAN dares to single-handedly penetrate seven separate empires of Monsteropolis, eliminating the leaders and followers of these sovereignties.

Get ready for some very exciting challenges!

This time, Mega Man must rely on his new slide move and canine companion Rush to conquer the stages and vanquish evil. A new character, Proto Man, adds to the mystery and appeal of this seminal title in the famous action-game series.***The third and, arguably, the best of Mega Man's NES adventures. Somewhat unique in that it features at least cameo appearences by every "boss" robot seen in the series to date - not only the eight new ones created for this game, but you get a rematch of sorts with the MM2 crowd (via the Doc Robot stages, where you battle a shadowy simulacrum several times as it adopts their powers), and the cast from the original MM game appears in the game's ending. At 18 stages total, it's also the longest of the NES series. This game also introduced Rush the Robo-Dog and Proto Man (the latter as "Break Man," who interrupts the stages every so often to briefly battle you). A must-own!

You've got to get there, Mega Man, and get those crystals! You'll face some pretty mean metal. Expect the worst! Is Rush there with you? Give him a bolt to chew on and tell him it's from us. What's that -- we must be getting static -- sounds like you said 'Woof!'"

"Mega Man, get to those mining worlds pronto! Grab the crystals and stop whoever's in charge!. He's one lunatic guy!"

"This is Dr. Light. Over and out!"***Battle your way through a mad onslaught of crazed machinery. The Robot Masters pour on more insane weapons than you can believe! They clank, buzz, crawl, shoot, and blast from every direction. Explore every room and corridor. Climb every ladder. Dodge, slide, leap, and fire to blast your attackers or at least get away!

You start the round with 3 chances to make it through. Watch your Energy Meter at the top left corner of the screen. Your energy drains away as you take the crushing blows your foes dish out. Good thing you've got a steel noggin!

Pickup Energy Tanks, Energy Pellets, and Surprise Boxes to gain back energy and chances. When your energy runs out, you lost one chance and the round ends. If you have chances left, you'll start again.

Keep going! Destroy all the robot fiends in this level, and you'll face the diabolical Robot Master. His Energy Meter appears to the right of yours, so you can keep an eye on who's winning!

If you lose all your chances, the game ends. But if you demolish the Robot Master, you gain his weapons and capture the energy crystals from his world. Then you can take on the next maniac!

Mega Man III Hi-Tech Expressions (Rozner Labs)1992The gameplay is largely similar to the NES [game=#8000]Mega Man[/game], so mostly a combination of platforming and shooting. As in every Mega Man game, the player can defeat the robot masters in any order and will obtain their weapon after defeating them. Of course, every robot master is weak against a certain weapon but since the bosses are not much of a challenge, one might as well use the standard weapon. In fact, all of the six initial bosses except for Bit Man use a nearly identical pattern that is very easily seen through and countered. Bit Man's pattern at least is something different, but he's not much of a challenge either.
The levels are a bit more labyrinthine than in the Capcom Mega Man games though often the branches only lead to powerups or deadends. Surprisingly, in this game Mega Man is able to swim, and the level designers made sure that he has to use that ability quite often. I also find it odd that many of the enemies appear to be real animals instead of robots (for example the crabs and nautilus-like molluscs). And the nautiluses are some of the sturdiest enemies in the game.***There is no Mega Man II for DOS, this game is the direct sequel to [game=#210815]Mega Man[/game]. It is probably called Mega Man III for marketing reasons. That is presumably also the reason for reusing the box art of the original [game=#8000]Mega Man III[/game] for this game. The box art shows Spark Man from the NES version, which might be the reason to include a similar looking robot into this game to justify the picture on the package. [31]***MEGA MAN X4 marks a return to action for this popular franchise. The gameplay, as in all previous MEGA MAN titles, is challenging. Each level includes little secrets and unique terrain, and each new weapon or fighting move you learn will take practice before you can utilize them. The various enemies are sneaky and will put up quite a fight, although the real challenge comes at the end of each level with the huge bosses. Mega Man: Dr. Wily's Revenge  Capcom1991Everyone's favorite mechanical hero returns to face his archenemy one more time in this nerve-racking test of skill. The evil Dr. Wily, it seems, has rebuilt his eight most terrifying robots of all time to attempt a global takeover. You'll take on each and every one of them in your search for the elusive scientist. Along the way, you'll chase Wily into some of the most twisted mazes possible, solving puzzles and using powerful weaponry all the while. Six massive levels will keep you running, jumping, and shooting for days on end. Oh, and it seems only fair to mention that the evil doctor has mustered one new creation: the terrifying Mega Man Hunter.***What do you get when you cross Mega Man and Mega Man 2? Dr. Wily's Revenge! Four bosses each have been taken from the aforementioned games and have been mashed up into a single portable experience. Although it won't be anything new to fans who have played those two games, it's great for the people who never had an NES. It's got all the best elements of the early Mega Man games made portable. It can be aggravatingly difficult at times, much like the games it borrows from; consider yourself warned.
