Culture theme

The protagonist of the story is somehow dragged from their own time and flung into some other time period. Possible causes are magic, extended stasis sleep (e.g. cryogenic storage), time travel, and some others.

A well known example of this story element is in Futurama where Fry accidentally cryogenically freezes himself for a thousand years.

This is generally the better alternative over time travel tag when this happens only at beginning (and possibly the end) of the plot.
