Agent USA  Scholastic (Tom Snyder Productions)1984You play Agent USA as he attempts to eradicate the FuzzBomb epidemic. He must grow the only cure for the FuzzBomb, crytals, that replicate only when laid still outdoors. Since they cure the infected (FuzzBodies), they extremely valuable to the average citizen that does not want to be infected. They are likely to be stolen while replicating. If a citizen or Agent USA are holding crystals when touched by a FuzzBody, a crystal is destroyed rather getting the infection. Agent USA can block or push citizens to protect his crystal farm. Additionally, a FuzzBody is cured and becomes a normal citizen if they touch (and break) a crystal. Agent USA will be traveling the US via trains. Fuzzbodies will be spreading the infection in the mean time. And the original FuzzBomb is located in one of the infected cities. The ultimate goal is to find the source, the original FuzzBomb, and drop 100 crystals on it.

The C.H.A.O.S. Continuum  Creative Multimedia1994The year is 2577 and everyone on the Titan colony has suddenly disappeared. The station lies empty and hulking with the exception of a few automated robots which patrol the halls. The sentient computer C.H.A.O.S. is resisting any attempt at interface from the outside. You must take an advanced EVA pod, the Time Pod and shifting through dimensional rifts arrive at the Titan station to determine what went wrong. Use the probe's interfaces to gain access to computers, databanks and whatever else it will take to crack the access codes on the labs and C.H.A.O.S. itself. The game is presented in a standard first-person adventure, with pressable controls for movement and a center window into the world you explore. Arrow Controls are provided for movement as well as a targeting/fire key, a 360 degree view button for any area. MS-DOSlabelimagesubject
2064: Read Only Memories  MidBoss (Midboss)20152064: Read Only Memories merges old-school adventure gaming with modern storytelling to explore some of the social challenges we will face in the near future. Explore the colorful future metropolis of Neo-San Francisco, meeting a huge cast of fascinating characters and solving a far-reaching mystery. Think carefully about your choices, because you never know how they will affect this dynamic, branching narrative further down the line. The world is changing. Genetic alteration of humans is now commonplace, with many choosing to radically alter their bodies to express their individuality. Virtual intelligences called ROMs (Relationship and Organizational Managers), created as simple digital assistants, are exerting greater control over people's lives. Some are terrified by this rapid change, and they are willing to go to extreme lengths to prevent it. A lost ROM named Turing breaks into the apartment of a struggling journalist to ask for help. They claim to be the first sapient machine—not a simulation of life but a genuinely self-aware artificial being—and the technical genius who created them has gone missing. Can you unravel the shocking conspiracy that threatens to rock an entire society? Or will the darkness that lies behind the bright neon lights of Neo-SF consume you? Old-school, cutting-edge - Classic point-and-click adventuring inspired by the likes of Gabriel Knight and Snatcher is melded with modern branching storytelling that delves into identity, individuality, and what it means to be human. People of the future - Get to know a diverse cross-section of Neo-SF's population, brought to life by some of the best voice talent working in games today, including Melissa Hutchison and Dave Fennoy ( The Walking Dead ), Erin Yvette ( Oxenfree ), Austin Creed (WWE's Xavier Woods ), and internet stars Jim Sterling ( Jimquisition ) and SungWon Cho ( ProZD ). High tech nostalgia - The city of Neo-San Francisco is rendered in beautiful pixel art, and your adventure is accompanied by a catchy low-fi electronic synth soundtrack. Solve the mystery - Enjoy over ten hours of adventure gaming goodness, featuring exploration, dynamic branching conversations, multiple endings, and many challenges to overcome. The definitive PC edition - Since its launch two years ago, the team has made many improvements and additions to an already amazing game, making this the ultimate version. Additions have included new characters and voice performers, additional facial animations, Japanese language support, and the "Endless Christmas" extended epilogue that allows you to hang out with your favorite Neo-SF locals. More about the Sights & Sounds of Neo-SF Deluxe Edition Sights of Neo-SF (Artbook) The world of 2064 can be hard to navigate. The Sights of Neo-SF is the official art book by Read Only Memories director and lead artist John "JJSignal" James. Highly stylized and specific in its visuals, ROM's progression from early sketches to final form is fully outlined in this 50-page PDF. You will see early concepts fully realized, previous versions of your favorite characters and even some characters that didn't make the final cut. JJ lists Bubblegum Crisis, Akira, Megazone 23, and the Pluto manga as his biggest style inspirations. Come see where the ideas behind the game began and watch them evolve into the vibrant city of Neo-SF we know and love. Sounds of Neo-SF (Soundtrack) Composed by 2 Mello, the Sounds Of Neo-SF is the FM-synthy, funky, and positively-charged soundtrack to MidBoss' cyberpunk adventure game Read Only Memories. Not content with a soundtrack that was merely fitting for its game, 2 Mello crafted these sounds to embody the dual nature of Neo-San Francisco, all its charm and its hidden dangers. But who said that our cyberpunk future has to be dark and dreary? You'll be humming these melodies to 2064 and beyond.***

Ballance Atari (Cyparade)2004Fight against the force of gravity! Face dizzying heights and plummeting depths. Steer a ball through a surreal cloud world full of puzzling mechanisms, over metal rails, wooden bridges and more. There are 12 increasingly challenging levels, each one bringing with it ever more complex puzzles and mechanisms to overcome.

Ballance is a level-based puzzle game. The player has to move a ball through a hovering maze of paths and rails. When moving, the player will face many mechanical obstacles like seesaws, suspension bridges, pendulums etc. to overcome. It is the aim of the game to reach to the end of each level without dropping the ball.
Ballance takes its special appeal from the physically realistic simulation of its elements. A good feeling of the ball's inertia and an understanding of simple mechanical processes will enable the player to succeed.

The special feature of the ball is that the player can change its material, and thus its physical properties. The material can be changed from wood to stone or paper. For changing the material of the ball, the player has to steer the ball onto one of the transforming fields (transformers) that can be found at various places in the levels.
Ballance is played against the time. The faster a player gets through a level the more scores will be granted. Picking up various Extra Scores may provide the player with additional "time scores" or even an "extra life".

Ballance is a combination of a puzzle and a game of skill. While the skill component is omnipresent - everything finally depends on steering the ball - the element of intelligence reveals itself in the form of "physical puzzles". These puzzles count on an intuitive grasping of the level architecture and the principles of simple mechanics. They often refer to the physical transformation of the ball.
When exploring the world of this game and its rules, the view into endless depths gives the player a continuous thrill.

6 de 10.***Live the life of a Monster, from birth to elderhood and beyond, making decisions that affect the world of Monsters and Humans.

You live in the village of Omen, and your favorite snack is the fingers of small children. As a Monster, you pop up in the most interesting places — what do you do when three angry bears discover a young child in their cabin? Or when you spy a wolf hunting down that woman with the red cloak?

As a Monsterling, your choices are simple ones. Do you chase those poor little mice (+1 Ferocity) or protect them from the dogs (+1 Kindness)? Do you come clean about that fungus your friends ate (+1 Honesty) or cover for them (+1 Bravery)? As a youth, your choices determine your personality.

But all youngins must grow up. Monsters and Humans have been at odds for centuries, and there are Human villages on the other side of the enchanted woods. When Human children get lost in those dark and winding thickets, do you terrorize them for fun (+1 Ferocity)? Do you help return them to Human civilization to prove that not all Monsters are to be feared and hated (+1 Kindness)? Or do you fatten them up for Human foie gras — a Monster delicacy? All this, to the backdrop of increasing tensions between Monster- and Humankind.

Mountain author2014At first I read the information on the web about this game and it sounded as if it a neglected niche market that was before tamagochi players and after pet rock owners. I figured a 16K UHD (8640p) 48 inch Electrophoretic Color Display (when these became affordable) framed and hung in my living room would be the best place for it.
However, after seeing [url=https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FpObFKcyLJ8]David OReilly's presentation[/url] I realized the product has interaction, there are features to unlock, causes to effect. It is on the outside definition of a game. But it is still more of a game than [game=#162665]Narcissu[/game] (which is often accepted as such). And it's minimally subversive (kind of an artistic necessity). I couldn't tell you exactly what, but this guy has probably started something at least as noteworthy as [game=#19073]Kings Quest[/game], [game=#34]Centipede[/game], [game=#173178]Passage[/game], or [game=#107889]Seven Cities of Gold[/game]. However, I'm still looking forward to decorating my wall with this first of the new. "You only live once, buy Picassos whenever possible." Right? $1 is way more than possible for me.

9 de 10***Overall a nice turn-based tactical game, but might not be really up to one's expectations if you go looking for another of the old XCOM games. In short, this new XCOM game is extremely simplified and cut down version of the old X-COM with great number of features missing with only a few new ones to its name.

For those familiar with old XCOM, here's a list of differences. Notably there's missing multiple bases for the player to operate, aliens do not set up bases (there's only one alien base in the game), alien craft activity is barely existing (~13 alien craft encountered before the game was over), terror missions and similar do not involve actual enemy craft going to the sites, your soldiers can't pick up enemy gear during missions, grenades and rockets are special one-use gear instead of actual inventory items, inventory overall is severely simplified to a point where its limitations don't make sense, the game does not simulate projectile trajectories except for missed shots destroying scenery (missed shots can no longer hit secondary targets) and auto/burst fire is treated as single shot in terms of hitting or not, as such cover is simply statistical wonder instead of literal cover (shots "penetrate" the cover - with no damage to the cover - when they hit the soldier hiding behind it rather than hitting exposed bits), alien craft interception relies on one-use power ups you need to craft (though they go largely unused), aliens do not attack XCOM base(s), you can only have one skyranger hence you're specifically forbidden to complete missions that appear "simultaneously" with others (you have to choose one, the others automatically fail, their timing and duration essentially synced), interceptor and skyranger management is simplified, chrysalids and robotic aliens can not be captured and studied, aliens do not have jobs (there's only one live specimen of each species to interrogate and beyond that, nothing), battle scanner is missing, arbitrary range limitations to weapons (not allowed to shoot if target is beyond certain range), incendiary weapons are missing, stun grenades are missing, quite a few alien species are missing, levels tend to be far smaller and streamlined (with very few exceptions), action points have been replaced with simplified version that has glaring limitations, soldiers have 360 degree vision, reloading and shooting in same turn is impossible, ammunition is handwaved away completely, aliens do not have morale, taking aliens alive has little far less use, and probably quite a few other things. New features, for those that care: upgrade system accessible via the foundry, psychic damage ability, classes, class perks, two-point system, and probably some others.

Personally I think this new XCOM is good game, but just does not hold up to what the old X-COM games were about. If you want the old experience, you're better off with the old games, UFO: Extraterrestrials, UFO: Aftermath/-shock/-light, or the many fan-made remakes.

Note that I played the game through on "classic" difficulty (the one just below brutal), which may have had something to do with some of my poor opinions.***EAN-13: [code]5 026555 056151[/code] (European/Worldwide)***[media=youtube]u9i6X5fgaCE[/media]

Fuzzbodies will be spreading the infection in the mean time. And the original FuzzBomb is located in one of the infected cities. The ultimate goal is to find the source, the original FuzzBomb, and drop 100 crystals on it.

This is an edutainment game that introduces train scheduling, ticket buying, geography, time zones, and epidemic spread.

Myst Mindscape;Brøderbund (Cyan Worlds;Red Orb Entertainment)1994Myst was the bestselling video game for several years, until The Sims exceeded its sales. Myst and its success had a significant impact on the first-person adventure game genre and was a showcase for many buyers of their first cd-rom drives. The story has you stumbling upon a most intriguing book, a book titled Myst. You have no idea where it came from, who wrote it, or how old it is. Reading through its pages provides you with only a superbly crafted description of an island world. As you reach the end of the book, you lay your hand on a page. Suddenly your own world dissolves into blackness, replaced with the island world the pages described. Now you're here, wherever here is, with no option but to explore. Myst is a first-person point-and-click adventure where the player controls a character known as The Stranger. Magically transported into the world described in the book, he needs to explore Myst Island and solve its mysteries. The game is presented as a series of scenes where the player acts with the environment by clicking and manipulating objects. There are no enemies and it is not possible to die. Through Myst Island, the game is further divided into mini-worlds set in different ages accessed through different books. Due to the game's popularity, many "Myst clones" came out after it and some adventure fans blame it for the death of the once traditional point-and-click adventure genre.***1995 French version.

CrossFire author2001A fantasy medieval themed MORPG with a set of races and classes similar to angband and nethack. There are multiple graphical clients to chose from that will show more information than text based clients (stacks of objects on the floor for instance). Use of text remains heavy in all clients and more closely follows a the example of text adventure interpreters than simple commands. Players will need to converse with NPCs. But many typed commands are simple as well and players can bind any command to a keystroke. Also, there are a variety of shortcuts that can be preformed with the mouse. The adventures provided really depend on which server the player chooses to play on. Most servers allow multiple characters and they remain attached to the server where they were created. Initially there was no gender option provided but version 1.10 added this option. Many servers continue to use the monogender mode. Generally servers include a tutorial map, several interlinked preset maps, and attached maps that are randomly generated within a set or constrictions (themed dungeons). Players find a public bed (or buy their own real estate to place a bed in) to sleep until they want to return to the game, which is a quit-save. Any items they left lying around may be stolen, but their inventory and their character are safe when sleeping. A variety of locked storage, security systems, guard animals, or guard NPCs are available for things that just won't fit into inventory. Maid NPCs are also an option. Player vs player is decided per server. The game allows for servers to have PvP zones and for players to mutually agree to PvP (outside of zones). But absolute prevention of PvP is apparently technically impossible for anyone determined to circumvent the safeguards as sings repeatedly warn players that PvP is forbidden in places where technical limitation are already in place. There is an extensive skills system as well. Skills increase by using them. For instance, read a book that is within your literacy skill level and you will ear literacy experience points. This only works once per book, btw. There is no combat mode. Attacks are in real time. While characters can have all manor of attacks at their disposal, all melee attacks are done without visual feedback. Text feedback is given instead. Ranged attacks show the projectile, but are otherwise identical to each other as melee attacks are.

Find towers and dungeons. Hack up monsters. Gather loot. Sell loot. Practice skills. Repeat.

For POSIX/X11 and/or GTK systems. Confirmed to run on Ubuntu and IRIX. RPM available.
