cannibalism - it is said the Chots eat their own. (Unverified if this is actually seen or if the player can perform this when possessing one of them.)

--- notes
religion-christian --- the most I can gather from this game is that there's a single god who sends out Bob the cherub down to Earth to fix things because satan or some other evil devil/demon is messing things up. This seems to be more as punishment for Bob than actually to save Earth. The focus of the game is humor, however, so the religious content may be only superficial.***Sex, Religion, Possession, Death

Bob is the scum of the Heavens, an angel in name only. He's been asked by the `Big Man´ Himself to rub out those "Screw Ups down on Earth". He has the power to possess anyone and use sinners to slay sinners. He can enter over 40 characters and control them to mutilate, sneak, impale, charm and creatively wipe out other vermin, but it takes cunning to decide who to possess...

* As Bob, you can possess and control any of the over 40 characters, including: Prostitutes, cops, behemoths, priests, bouncers, sub girls, bondage dancers, gigolos, demons, chots, welders, nuclear workers, medics, bartenders, dwarves, pimps, monsters, animals and much more!

* Over 10 different weapons, including: rocket propelled harpoons, needle guns, rocket launchers, flame throwers, grenades, stun guns.

* Use enemies as weapons.

* All characters have real skin covering their bones, resulting in skin that jiggles and stretches in all the right places.

Alien Versus Predator Classic 2000 has been updated to run on modern PCs and laptops using DirectX 9.0c and includes support for Xbox 360 Controller for Windows, however, it does not currently support multi-player.

The three most ferocious species in the universe in a bloodthirsty battle for the ultimate prize: survival. Take your pick: be a Colonial Marine, a Predator or an Alien. Fight through suspense-filled environments: from starships and space stations to colonial bases and eerie planetscapes. One wrong move turns you from hunter to prey.

* Three campaigns: Colonial Marine, Alien and Predator
* Includes all the levels from the original AvP Gold Edition plus the Millennium Expansion Pack
* Skirmish mode against infinite Alien hordes
* Bonus Episodes
* Unique abilities, weapons and equipment for each species
* Scale walls and elevator shafts as an ALIEN with frightening speed as you attack and devour your victims
* Stalk your prey as the deadly PREDATOR using wrist blades, shoulder cannons and stealth mode
* Lock and load as a COLONIAL MARINE using motion trackers, grenade launchers and flame-throwers to exterminate your foes
* Supports Xbox 360 Controller for Windows
* Music from the original soundtrack CD
[Fox Interactive?]***healing magic - Predator heals himself by expending his energy reserves and stabbing himself with the healing stabby things, can be repeated whenever the player feels like it and there's sufficient energy reserves left.
health draining - xenomorph's healing method vaguely belongs to this: by "eating" the heads of humans and predators, live victims give more health.
hypermobile foes - xenomorphs when playing against them.

steam - only for AvP Classic***Lack of out-of-place music, impressive (at the time) ambient noises, slick darkness, the gritty and terrifying world and xenomorphs of the Alien franchise with the somewhat monstrous but oddly honorable cloaked hunters from Predator movies, AVP sets an experience that is action-packed and laden with horror. Stalk humans and predators alike as a lone xenomorph drone. Run in the darkness as a lone marine, hunted by both the swarming xenomorphs and the stealthy predators. Or stalk as a predator, nailing down humans one at a time and fighting the hordes of xenomorphs. Regardless of whom you play as, the feeling of anxiety, exhilaration and fear you felt with the original Alien movie and the sequel are pretty much there.

The game actually feels almost Lovecraftian, but instead of psychological horror, the game gives you a relentless horde of aliens with nary a sufficient arsenal to counter them. Besides the foreboding darkness and the lonesomeness each character makes you feel, each character's gameplay is different in their own way.

The xenomorph drone outmaneuvers and stalks individual targets from the dark while avoiding most direct confrontations as he is quite fragile but can rend almost anything they come in close enough to pieces in less than a second. Marine has it tough as the neverending swam of xenomorph drones forces them to progress onward, not giving him time for a breather, making even his impressively varied arsenal seem pitiful and even a single predator on his path can make things a lot more difficult. For predator, picking out humans while cloaked may seem simple, they rarely offer much of a challenge except in large numbers. The aliens however see through the predator's cloak and come swarming in on him like a nest of bees, making many of his more powerful weapons useless in close quarters. All three provide unique challenges and experience.

It's amazing how AVP didn't become more popular than it is, it's a solid package of great gameplay with decent story, however it was unfortunately released shortly after Half-Life which was hyped by the press and many others even though it offered less in a sense, contributing to AVP's lower popularity. AVP was perhaps too hectic and not everyone is fan of horror and dark places where you feel insignificant and can't see your enemy properly. Instead of making you feel like a hero like HL did, AVP makes you feel like you survived.

(Sorry for the ad-like speech at the start, but I couldn't think of anything better.)***Seems like people have trouble running the game with anything newer than XP SP2, meaning anyone with XP SP3 or newer (like my XP64) are unlikely to get the game to work.

Though the game is practically playable even on XP64, as long as you don't linger in the main menu for long and skip the cinematics as the game otherwise crashes in a minute or so.***Comes on 2 CDs.***Gold Edition includes the "Millenium Expansion Pack". I couldn't find info if this was available for separate download for owners of regular AVP, but my memory says it was. There's 9 new multiplayer levels and few singleplayer levels for the marine. There's 2 new weapons, pistol and "skeeter", for the marine. Other weapons, mostly the explosive kind, were made more powerful, too. Gold Edition multiplayer is incompatible with the original AVP. There's different title screen and apparently some voice overs were replaced by Rebellion staff.

The new AvP Classic is essentially the Gold Edition.***Minimum:

Despite its superb exploitation of human terror, however, it failed in terms of gameplay to match the top FPSs of the time (Half-Life had been released just five months before). But with three games in one, one for each race (Alien, Predator, Human [Marine]), few could be disappointed by AvP.***Official description:

GROUND-BREAKING ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE: interact with characters and creatures who behave with unprecedented levels of realism.

1ST AND 3RD PERSON CAMERA PERSPECTIVES which dynamically reacts intuitively to every situation you encounter.

ORIGINAL MUSICAL SCORE performed by the Moscow Symphony Orchestra.
[Box blurb]***Outcast is a superb action adventure. Unlike Quake or Half-Life, one has to talk to and help many people to progress - as well as killing plenty of soldiers! :-)

What marks the game out are its graphics - Infogrames bravely went for a voxel engine, which produces smooth round surfaces and stunning quality of light in the realistic, outdoor sites (not a sewer or warehouse in sight). The music is also superb.

This game is in my all time top 5, along with (for those retros out there) Avalon, Knightlore, Carmageddon II, and Half-life.

The year is 2052 and the world is a dangerous and chaotic place. Terrorists operate openly - killing thousands; drugs, disease and pollution kill even more. The world's economies are close to collapse and the gap between the insanely wealthy and the desperately poor grows ever wider. Worst of all, an ages old conspiracy bent on world domination has decided that the time is right to emerge from the shadows and take control. No one believes they exist. No one but you.

* Real role-playing from an immersive 3D, first-person perspective. The game includes action, character interaction and problem solving.
* Realistic, recognizable locations. Many of the locations are built from actual blueprints of real places set in a near future scenario.
* A game filled with people rather than monsters. This creates empathy with the game characters and enhances the realism of the game world.
* Rich character development systems: Skills, augmentations, weapon and item selections and multiple solutions to problems ensure that no two players will end the game with similar characters.
* Multiple solutions to problems and character development choices ensure a varied game experience. Talk, fight or use skills to get past obstacles as the game adapts itself to your style of play.
* Strong storyline: Built on "real" conspiracy theories, current events and expected advancements in technology. If it's in the game, someone, somewhere believes it.
[Valve - GOTY edition]***If there's a thing that doesn't make sense, then it's the early sound cutoff bug this game has on my system. After trying solutions that work in every other game, I found on a forum that switching to sw rendering and back to D3D fixes it temporarily, and it did, even OpenGL rendering didn't have it. But both of those had some other issues I didn't want so I kept looking. Until I switched off vsync, and behold, sound clipping is gone. Fine and dandy with me, except it doesn't make slightest bit of sense. Video card setting that releases the framerate synchronization with screen refresh and allows the game to render more frames somehow allows the game to play the voice overs to the end. The Reticulans who invaded the Earth are not true representatives of their kind, they are a breakaway faction that burned the bridges and chose this backwater part of space to conduct its experiments.

The Reticulans would construct a large satellite (several kilometres across) with a closed ecosystem and move the remnants of human population there. The experiment with the Biomass would go on on the surface. Then something went horribly wrong...

Strategy First published the game on 2007-10-18***For the first half of the 21st century, the war on terror became a global phenomena as more blatant and frenzied attacks struck deeper into the lives of common people. Inevitably, the pressure from public outcry to stop the madness grew to an irresistible level; the military forces of the world slowly but steadily retooled their outlooks, weapons, and tactics to combat people who were willing to die for their cause.

By 2100, the world was more or less at peace, with continued discord in some regions as modernized military forces sought to track down and destroy the remaining terrorist cells that continued to fight and harass civilian and military alike. Regardless, as this war began to wane, it slowly moved out of the public's eye, and they began to pick up the pieces and try to make better lives for themselves. Not since the years following World War II had such prosperity been felt across the planet; even war-ravaged regions received a "Marshall Plan" of sorts, having their infrastructures built up far beyond what they ever were before.

As prosperity grew, so too did the ventures of capitalism. In this day and age, science was the 'new capitalism,' fueling the growth of amazing new technologies. The first high-profile ventures into the creation of a viable fusion energy source, an offshoot of the efforts of the aging multinational oil companies, began in 2105 in the United States, with the backing of billions of dollars in venture and government capital. The International Power Initiative of 2112, an agreement among nations investing in the fusion power project, but eventually including many hundreds of other projects based on energy, radically restructured how science was to approach new energy sources. The level of freedom granted to a group of corporations might have been dangerous one hundred years ago, but it was felt that today since there was not a rivalry in the race to find the secrets of fusion power first, that giving a corporation autonomy to do what it needed to do would foster creativity and growth on an unheard-of scale.

It didn't.

A massive nuclear fireball explodes high in the night sky, marking the dramatic beginning to the Third Tiberium War and long-awaited return of the most groundbreaking Real-time Strategy franchise (RTS) of all time.

The critically-acclaimed Command & Conquer (C&C) series returns with Command & Conquer 3 Tiberium Wars (C&C 3). Setting the standard for the future of RTS gaming once more, C&C 3 takes you back to where it all began—the Tiberium Universe.

In 2047, Tiberium has blanketed the Earth, which is now divided into zones based on the level of Tiberium infestation. Pristine Blue Zones represent 20% of the planet's surface and are the last refuge of the civilized world. Partially habitable Yellow Zones make up 50% of the planet's surface; most of the world's population lives in these war-torn and ecologically ravaged areas. The remaining 30% of the planet is uninhabitable, a Tiberium wasteland swept by violent Ion Storms. Red Zones are like the surface of an Alien planet.

The infamous Kane has returned to lead the Brotherhood of Nod in a massive global assault on the Global Defense Initiative and the few remaining Blue zones left on the planet. Only you can stop him. The fate of humanity – and the planet – is in your hands.

Featuring state-of-the-art, next-generation graphics, an epic story with live action, full-motion video sequences, and the classic fast-paced C&C style of play, C&C 3 sets the standard for the single player RTS experience.

When you decide to test your skills online, a suite of truly innovative features, such as the ability to transform online battles into a spectator sport, unfold.

Welcome back, Commander.

This year's most anticipated online action game, TF2 delivers new gametypes, a signature art style powered by Valve's next generation animation technology, persistent player statistics, and more.

Unlike other "class-based" games that offer a variety of combat classes only, Team Fortress 2 packs a wild variety of classes which provide a broad range of tactical abilities and personalities, and lend themselves to a variety of player skills.

Play as the flame-throwing Pyro, the room clearing Heavy, or the Spy, a master of disguises. Other classes include: Scout, Sniper, Medic, Engineer, Demoman, or Soldier.

TF2 features the most advanced graphics of any Source-based game released to date – and the most exciting class-based action ever created.

Dr. Aiden Krone is a former professor of Applied Physics at MIT, notorious for his unrivaled brilliance and obsession with Thermodynamics, Advanced Propulsion, and Quantum Electrodynamics (QED). Despite his increasing tendencies to demand control and secrecy, he became the Founder and Lead Physicist of a classified Time Travel research program.

Over a decade later, Krone's program had successfully developed the world's first time-travelling suit technology. However, as the program's equally secretive decsision-makers demanded this technology be adapted for military applications, Krone's feelings of self-entitlement and anger grew. He secretly desired a new existence, a new world where his scientific endeavors could be shaped and experienced without outside interference.

The combination of Krone's mind and his suit technology gave him the ability to create and control another existence - an existence where a man of science could finally operate without restrictions and do so within a place where science itself was properly respected regardless of the effects on humanity.

It is now up to you to trace Krone's last known appearances and stop his tyrannical rule over Alpha District. In a twisted world where scientific accomplishments reign, its up to you to don the Beta Suit and Master Time to Become the Ultimate Weapon.

With all 9 classes, many different TF2-inspired environments, and fast-paced, team-based, multiplayer gameplay represented, GG2 is the premier TF2 tribute/parody/alternative.

Gang Garrison 2 presents the player with 9 unique classes to use in frenetic, cooperative multiplayer action in a stylish and unique 8-bit style. Battle with your friends or others you encounter online through a whole range of vibrant maps; TF2 maps reimagined in 2D as well as a multitude of maps with all sorts of different looks and settings, all of which have been dreamed up and constructed by members of our community. We've made a huge effort to provide simple, bugfree custom map support, so that anyone with a paint application can put together a map and test it themselves with our Garrison Builder utility. We also gladly encourage Gang Garrison modifications; many successful mods have been incorporated into the game as new features.

While this game has come a long way, it is still a work in progress and many impressive new features are being planned such as new gametypes and alternate weapons. Because this game continues to grow only because of the devotion and hard work of our community, we invite you to come and participate in the future of this game. We are always looking for talented people to join the forum, contribute art, content, ideas, and modifications, and maybe even help us behind the scenes on new official versions. We hope you'll stop by and have a look at our game; it is the imagination and spirit of our players that makes it so fun.

cannibalism — you meet current and "former" cannibals and can become one yourself by picking the "cannibal" perk.
auto-regen — there are at least two perks that give this under certain conditions, normally not present.

slavery — besides being somewhat common topic, player can also partake in this activity by stunning and collaring people (the collar will cause the slave's head to explode if they try to escape).

variable ending — the ending is constructed of 3 things: karma and two choices near the end that form total of around 10 "unique" endings (if minor details are ignored) constructed out of 28 video segments (see breakdown at Fallout wiki). Only around 4 endings if you play them out in very archetypical manner.

Vault-Tec engineers have worked around the clock on an interactive reproduction of Wasteland life for you to enjoy from the comfort of your own vault. Included is an expansive world, unique combat, shockingly realistic visuals, tons of player choice, and an incredible cast of dynamic characters. Every minute is a fight for survival against the terrors of the outside world – radiation, Super Mutants, and hostile mutated creatures. From Vault-Tec, America's First Choice in Post Nuclear Simulation.

Story:

Vault 101 – Jewel of the Wastes. For 200 years, Vault 101 has faithfully served the surviving residents of Washington DC and its environs, now known as the Capital Wasteland. Though the global atomic war of 2077 left the US all but destroyed, the residents of Vault 101 enjoy a life free from the constant stress of the outside world. Giant Insects, Raiders, Slavers, and yes, even Super Mutants are all no match for superior Vault-Tec engineering. Yet one fateful morning, you awake to find that your father has defied the Overseer and left the comfort and security afforded by Vault 101 for reasons unknown. Leaving the only home you've ever known, you emerge from the Vault into the harsh Wasteland sun to search for your father, and the truth.

Key Features:

* Limitless Freedom! – Take in the sights and sounds of the vast Capital Wasteland! See the great monuments of the United States lying in post-apocalyptic ruin! You make the choices that define you and change the world. Just keep an eye on your Rad Meter!
* Experience S.P.E.C.I.A.L.! – Vault-Tec engineers bring you the latest in human ability simulation – the SPECIAL Character System! Utilizing new breakthroughs in points-based ability representation, SPECIAL affords unlimited customization of your character. Also included are dozens of unique skills and perks to choose from, each with a dazzling variety of effects!
* Fantastic New Views! – The wizards at Vault-Tec have done it again! No longer constrained to just one view, experience the world from 1st or 3rd person perspective. Customize your view with the touch of a button!
* The Power of Choice! – Feeling like a dastardly villain today, or a Good Samaritan? Pick a side or walk the line, as every situation can be dealt with in many different ways. Talk out your problems in a civilized fashion, or just flash your Plasma Rifle.
* Blast ‘Em Away With V.A.T.S.! – Even the odds in combat with the Vault-Tec Assisted Targeting System for your Pip-Boy Model 3000! V.A.T.S. allows you to pause time in combat, target specific body parts on your target, queue up attacks, and let Vault-Tec take out your aggression for you. Rain death and destruction in an all-new cinematic presentation.
* Mind-Blowing Artificial Intelligence! – At Vault-Tec, we realize that the key to reviving civilization after a global nuclear war is people. Our best minds pooled their efforts to produce an advanced version of Radiant AI, America's First Choice in Human Interaction Simulation. Facial expressions, gestures, unique dialog, and lifelike behavior are brought together with stunning results by the latest in Vault-Tec technology.
* Eye-Popping Prettiness! – Witness the harsh realities of nuclear fallout rendered like never before in modern super-deluxe HD graphics. From the barren Wasteland, to the danger-filled offices and metro tunnels of DC, to the hideous rotten flesh of a mutant's face.

When a thief named Deckard is hired to steal an ancient artifact, he unwittingly triggers a war between man and myth.

Griffons rule the skies, Werewolves tear the innocent limb from limb and cities are held under siege as creatures we'd dismissed as imaginings of our ancestors prove to be very real and very angry for being held prisoner for untold millennia.

As the only person able to return these creatures to the box, Deckard finds that he must work with a shadowy secret society to save civilization before it is torn apart by tooth and claw.

* A mythical first person shooter set in an unprepared, modern world.
* A massive blockbuster movie experience — society collapses around you as man and machine take on beasts of legend in spectacular battle.
* Awe-inspiring fire-fights where high caliber ordinance meets beak, talon, fang and claw.
* Dynamic environments crumble around you as you and your enemies tear a living, breathing environment apart in your battle to stay alive.
* Devastation realized on an unprecedented scale. See London burn to the ground and witness New York torn apart through spectacular supernatural destruction.
* The enemy of your enemy is your enemy — witness and take part in three way battles as you combat the supernatural as well as the militant arm of an age old clandestine organization who prove to be a formidable opponent and adequate prey for the armies of mythical beasts.
* Take the battle online with multiplayer combat.

Set in the immediate aftermath of the long-awaited zombie apocalypse, L4D's survival co-op game mode is played out across four sprawling "Movies" set in a variety of urban and rural environments. Each "Movie" has an over-riding team objective, is comprised of five large maps, and may be played by 1 to 4 human players.

New technology dubbed "the AI Director" is used to procedurally generate a unique experience each time the game is played. Just as in Hollywood films, the Director calls for new monsters, sounds, and action as it tailors the gameplay experience based upon the team's performance.

[...] Left 4 Dead also includes new multiplayer modes.

* Addictive co-op action gameplay [...]
* Advanced artificial intelligence drives both friendly and unfriendly creatures to dynamically create intense single-player, co-op, and multiplayer experiences every time the game is played
* 20 new maps. 10 new weapons. Four sprawling "Movies"
* Match making, stats, rankings, and awards system drive collaborative play
* Designer's Commentary mode allows gamers to go "behind the scenes" of the game
