* Freely traverse from one layer to the other at any point
* Freely create access points from one layer to the other (e.g. by digging)
* Interact with things on separate layer without entering it, such as shooting down a chasm at units on a layer below. Note that this overlaps with true 3D strategy which so far is unheard of (except maybe Homeworld)
