Malfeatures
Other (objects, etc.) concept
Any tags describing a feature that is usually viewed as plain negative or even as bugs (despite lacking the usual requirement of being an error in code).
Contrast: quality of life features
These are essentially features that are there either because of oversight or bad design choice. Only features that can be clearly identified as harmful overall rather than subjective to game type/genre (elements of specific genre), style of play (e.g. quick time events), game difficulty (e.g. fragile protagonist, instant death, health regen, permadeath), or game design (map deficient, lack of minimap, etc. in maze or exploration heavy game or one that favors realism). In other words, anything that is a bad feature regardless of any of these factors.
Examples of quite obvious malfeatures: no pointer capture, forced mouse acceleration (no option to disable it, however in contrast no option to enable it does not count), no (option for) subtitles, and so forth.
Malfeatures that are such only to small group of players that are not tied to a game's target audience do not count, for example, lack of assistive technology use does not count as disabled players are a minority (meaning, the malfeature does not affect most players regardless of other factors even among all disabled players as they don't share disabilities).

This is a container group; its children are:
Forced mouse acceleration | Forces mouse acceleration to happen with no (easy) way to disable it. (too short) | 1 game
Multiplayer: No private games | Internet multiplayer games can't be locked with password, limited to invite only, or some other restriction that prevents the general public from randomly joining in. | 0 game
Multiplayer: No rejoin | If player loses connectivity, they can not rejoin a game session. Likely includes loss by default condition as well if this happens. | 1 game
No pointer capture | An unusual omission in action games playable in a window, where the pointer is allowed to go outside the window without any restriction, possibly causing misclicks outside the game window that cause it to lose focus. | 2004 / 2016 | 44 games |
Subtitle deficient | Includes voice overs, synthesized speech or such but does not have sufficient or any subtitles for them (optional or not). | 1995 / 2015 | 58 games |
