Aliens: Colonial Marines  Sega (Gearbox Software;TimeGate Studios;Nerve Software)2013Has been received extremely poorly, here's few things that go over why:
* http://www.destructoid.com/so-who-the-hell-did-make-aliens-colonial-marines--244939.phtml
* http://www.destructoid.com/gearbox-lied-about-aliens-from-e3-demo-to-retail-product-244966.phtml
* http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6lGXDM3LGnk***For any Aliens fans, this game will be horribly disappointing. Despite the gratuitous fanservice from including LV-426, Hadley's Hope, Sulaco, the Derelict and its dead Jockey pilot, Hicks, and various other things from the movies, this game utterly fails to deliver on the atmosphere of the films. Alien acidic blood is only a minor annoyance, player can trivially fight the aliens in melee, the aliens themselves seem incredibly lazy, the way player can carry ~10 different weapons with separate ammo for each, extremely linear locations, and whatever else make this feel unsatisfying when you come to it expecting a proper Aliens game. The license seems almost wasted on it considering how much they deviate from what fans of the franchise would expect. If they had made this a game with no ties to Aliens franchise it would've probably been half-decent, but as it is, it fails to be what it is supposed to be. The graphics are the main point where this actually is quite good at, though for PC game they're kinda low fidelity, but nothing you wouldn't expect from a game that's published on the usual platform trio (X360/PS3/PC).

To summarize: fans of the Alien franchise, keep away. People who don't care for the franchise on the other hand, this can work as a mediocre tube shooter.

Aliens: Colonial Marines  Sega (Gearbox Software;TimeGate Studios;Nerve Software)2013Aliens: Colonial Marines is a first-person shooter based on the Aliens franchise and a sequel to the 1986 film Aliens, the second film in the series. The events take place directly after those of the film. The player takes control of the United States Colonial Marine Christopher Winter who is part of a search and rescue team that has to investigate the space ship U.S.S. Sulaco and what remains of Hadley’s Hope to find out what has happened to Ellen Ripley, Dwayne Hicks and the rest of the team that was sent to Acheron (LV-426), a fictional location as one of the three moons of Calpamos, located in the Zeta II Reticuli system. The team arrives on the space ship U.S.S. Sephora seventeen weeks after the distress call by Hicks was sent out.

The single-player campaign consists of eleven missions. Gameplay is centered around shooting opponents and sometimes items in the environment require interaction to open doors and such to progress. Some of the included weapons are a pulse rifle, shotgun, pistol, RPG, flamethrower and smartgun. Sentry turrets can be set up to defend specific areas. The turrets, along with the flamethrower and the smartgun, are not permanently available but are reserved for specific sections. There is no limitation on the amount of weapons that can be carried at a single moment. There is a motion tracker to scan movement in areas 180 degrees in front of the character. Ammo and armour upgrades can be picked up along the way. A flashlight is used to illuminate dark environments and a welder is available to cut open doors. In additional there is an leveling/experience system unified for both single-player and multiplayer where the earned points can be used to unlock new attachments and aesthetic enhancements for weapons and the main character. Most of the missions are not played alone. There is a squad of AI-controlled team mates who assist. They act independently and their behaviour cannot be influenced by the player. Many missions take place inside the space ship, but also often outside. There are a few stealth segments where all weapons are removed and no sound can be made while walking through a large amount of aliens.

Opponents include famous xenomorph aliens from the first three films, such as the chestburster, drone, facehugger, queen, warrior and runner. There are also new types, such as a boiler that can explode and a crusher. Certain levels include encounters with human soldiers from the Weyland-Yutani corporation with a different interest in the colony. There are also a number of boss fights.

Multiplayer is available as a cooperative campaign for two (split-screen) or four (online) players. Competitive multiplayer modes include Escape, Extermination, Survivor and Team Deathmatch. Escape and Survivor draw inspiration for the Left 4 Dead series. In the first, four human players need to reach a destination, while in the second they need to barricade themselves and survive as long as possible. In both modes both sides (humans and aliens) are controlled by human players. Playing as xenomorphs, there is a large emphasis on using the environment to travel along walls, ceilings and through vents for unexpected attacks. Different types of aliens are available and these too have different customization options and attacks unlocked as the player levels up.***

Black Mesa  Crowbar Collective2020
[12]***On the game being vaporware: Between 2009 and 2010 the developers ceased to publish notable new information until suddenly resurfacing and releasing part of the game.

2012-09-14 Black Mesa: Source was released, after which the project went on another hiatus and limited communication.
2020-03-06 The final game was released, no longer free and instead fully commercial project.***Notable gameplay related changes from original:
* Energy leeches were removed
* Rails no longer electrocute
* Rocket test chamber tentacles can't be sneaked around when they're smashing on the same floor simply because of too wildly random swiveling (that is: distractions are much more mandatory)
* On the rails no longer has player changing where the rails lead
* Gauss gun ricochets off the walls instead of penetrating them
* Scientists no longer heal Freeman
* Alien grunts are no longer immune to weapons fire at armored parts of their body

Other notable changes:
* Certain level segments have been omitted or streamlined, making levels shorter.
* Certain level segments have been made to make actual sense (or at least some, unlike the complete lack of seen in the original)
* Weapons are received in different order and in somewhat different places than in the original***Coop was officially dropped on 2010-03-17, stated reason was technical difficulties.***Black Mesa (formerly Black Mesa: Source) is a Half-Life 2 total conversion remaking VALVe Software's award-winning PC game, Half-Life. Utilizing the Source engine, Black Mesa will reintroduce the player as Doctor Gordon Freeman, along with the original cast of memorable characters and environments seen in Half-Life. Black Mesa was built and founded on the basis that Half-Life: Source was inadequate as the Source engine port of Half-Life, regardless of the intentions of VALVe Software. As such, Black Mesa was founded to fully reconstruct the Half-Life universe utilizing Source to its fullest potential in terms of art detail, level sizes and code features. This total conversion will not require Half-Life: Source to play - only a copy of any Source Engine game installed on Steam.

The Environment
Black Mesa is set in and around the Black Mesa Research Facility as depicted in the original Half-Life game. The research facility is a former Cold War missile complex based in New Mexico, and features a diverse array of locations ranging from abandoned rocket testing silos to modern administrative offices, from underground physics laboratories to a full-scale hydroelectric dam. The game continues beyond, into an inter-dimensional border world known as Xen. What will set Black Mesa apart from other Source engine modifications in development is the attention to environment detail. Levels will be faithful to the original Half-Life concept and built from scratch, yet will feature higher-resolution textures, detailed world models, and a higher quality of audio ambience courtesy of the Source engines soundscape system. The end goal of such attention to detail is an immersive single-player environment, which will engross the player in a story that is yet to be matched by any other first-person shooter.

Features
Black Mesa has many features, several of which are still in planning or being tested. Below are a few of the larger and more distinctive features of Black Mesa:

* Detailed and interactive environments based on the original Half-Life game, including reconstructed multiplayer maps;
* Single-player, co-operative and deathmatch modes planned;
* Original music score by Joel Nielsen;
* Artificial intelligence that will dynamically think, react and interact with and about their environment;
* Normal, specular and parallax mapping utilized on world surfaces and models where applicable;
* A priority on gameplay and immersion factors such as ambience, logical functionality and interactivity.

Game Modes
Black Mesa will feature three game modes designed to provide a high replayability factor.

Single-player
* Assuming the role of Dr. Gordon Freeman you will experience an immersive, story-driven mode of play. A world where around every corner a new threat or situation presents itself, provoking thought and interaction between you and your world. Relying on more than just combat to survive, your wits and intelligence will become strong allies in your fight for survival. Environments will be interactive, rich with detail, fully ambient and NPC characters will react to these environments and your actions therein. A world driven by story, locations conquered by wit, enemies matched with firepower. Welcome to Black Mesa. Run, think, shoot, live, Source.

Co-operative
* Black Mesa co-op will allow players to not only recruit the assistance of security guards and scientists, but also that of your friends! Share the single-player experience by battling through Black Mesa together. Players will be able to wage battles, travel corridors and emerge victorious over the enemies and escape the confines of the Black Mesa Research Facility.

Deathmatch
* The adrenaline pumping, bullet dodging, rockets-flying, big-red-button riddled deathmatch is back in classic Half-Life style, featuring graphically enhanced multiplayer maps and the full lineup of weapons. You'll find yourself having more fun blowing away your friends than, well, anything.

An interesting (though predictable) storyline and free travel through the castle make this one of the most innovative Castlevanias. It's right up there close to Castlevania 3.
[trevor belmont]***The best Castlevania game I have come across, bar none. The rawness of some of the backdrops earlier on in the game does nothing to dispel my suspicion that this game was originally intended for a different format, most likely Megadrive or SNES. It seems the game was ten ported over to the Plastation somewhere in development, as the the graphical extravegance increases the more you progress.
Completely unlike the superb Castlevania 4 on the SNES (arguably the second best Castlevania game) Playstation Dracula bears more in common with the Mega Drive conversion in terms of game structure and layout. A mammoth quest, with some lavish backdrops and set pieces, the game is topped off with and stiring musical score which even tops the SNES suite of themes (and thats saying something.) Univerally ignored by th mass public on launch due to its 2 imensional roots, this sprawling Metroid - esque adventure won many fans in the hardcore sector, and this game along with the original Silent Hill and Pro Evolution Soccer demonstrated Konami's 32 - bit prowess at its peak - they always mster any platform they develop for through time. One final note.
If you are searching for this game in its original format,the original pckaging comes complete with a bonus game art material together with a superb Castlevania game music CD demonstration all the various themes across the many formats throughout the ages. Also, try placing the actual game CD in your Hi - Fi. Rest assured, it wont damage your equipment!

Fable: The Lost Chapters Microsoft (Lionhead Studios;Big Blue Box Studios)2005This was an expanded re-release of [game=#155049]Fable[/game].

And according to Wikipedia, the changes were as follows:
* Five new silver keys, and a few more silver key chests.
* Two new suits of armor — the "Fire Assassin" suit, which is very similar to the normal assassin suit but with a red cloth and designs, and the armor of Archon, which is a shinier and stronger version of the standard plate armor in the game.
* A new torso armor — The hooded guild apprentice shirt.
* Two new offensive spells — "Divine Fury" and "Infernal Wrath"; area of effect spells which deal large amounts of damage to opponents in the player's radius.(some spells look slightly different, such as Assassin's Rush now bearing a blue after-effect instead of a white one).
* Briar Rose; a hero who was almost entirely scrapped from the original release, is now included in several main quests and side quests.
* Scythe; another hero who was cut from the original game, is now a primary character in the new end game, and appears early in the game based on the player's actions.
* Jack of Blades; the main antagonist, has a deeper, more demonic-sounding voice as opposed to his original roguish tone, and he has a more explored background.
* Jack of Blades transforms into a dragon, the new final boss.
* Several new demon doors.
* The Northern Wastes, which were cut from the original release, are back. There are about six new locations there, which contain a new town, a demon door, some silver key chests, and an extension of the story.
* The Darkwood Bordello, an area cut from the Darkwood portion of the game. Finding it allows access to a couple of sidequests, a new demon door, behind which is the "Pimp Hat", and of course, the bordello itself. The player has the option of owning the bordello, and making lots of money (for some 'evil' points), or making it a women's refuge (for 'holy' points).
* Several new weapons, including a sword called Avo's Tear, which acts as an opposite to the Sword of Aeons. Avo's Tear can only be acquired by a good character after destroying the Sword of Aeons in what was the original end of the game. The other weapons are: The Bereaver, The Avenger and Orkon's Club.
* The player may now solve the mystery surrounding the death of Lady Grey's sister.
* The player can now become the Mayor of Bowerstone.
* Several new sidequests and minigames.
* New monsters — Ice Trolls, Summoners, Wraiths, and Frost Balverines.
* New actions — The player may now do several new dances, like the Cossack dance and air guitar.
* The Sword of Aeons has had a downgrade to make the new game elements harder yet still remains one of the strongest weapons in the game. (Because of its speed as a light weapon, it can hit much faster as a heavy weapon.) The sword has a damage rate of 230, whereas in the original Fable it had 550.
* The Battle Charge spell no longer affects non-hostile and non-targeted characters.
* Demon Doors on the mini-map are purple instead of red to eliminate confusion between enemies.
* Flourish-charged weapons now glow purple instead of fiery to eliminate confusion of fire-augmented weapons.
* Jack of Blades' mask is no longer a trophy, but a quest item. Depending on the second ending that the player chooses, the mask can either be worn or destroyed. (Once worn, it can never be removed)
* After Jack of Blades is defeated the first time, the Hero Guild is rebuilt and completely accessible.
* Ripples in water are now more continuous instead of "pulses" and have a slightly different look.
* Timers turn red when there are only ten seconds left.
* You can find Whisper at the Oakvale Tavern after the Arena if you choose not to kill her.
* There is now an Oracle in the game which can be asked questions. Once the player reaches the Oracle, it can tell them what has happened to the other characters in the game, such as Whisper and the Hero's sister Theresa, which increases the impact of some of his earlier decisions. It can also talk to the Hero about a number of other topics, including information about Albion's past and where certain monsters come from, the which adds much more lore to the game.
* Bug fixes.
***Follow one character from birth to death, every action you take affects your charactor's stats but also their physical appearence.
