highborn protagonist - Kain was a nobleman in life.
[Sanguine]***Overhead action-RPG where you play as the vampire Kain in the sinister world of Nosgoth. You can kill and feast on any human you encounter.

Kain was a nobleman who was murdered during his travels. He sought vengeance and the necromancer Mortanius offered him a chance to do so by reviving him as a vampire. Kain then quickly enacts his revenge, but finds out that there is a greater plot to be uncovered. The story is probably the darkest to ever grace a console video game. Violent, yet mature and serious.

The storyline is too deep and complex for a simple summary so for more details, visit the link below and go to the Blood Omen section, or better yet, play the game.

Kain can use various weapons, spells and items, can morph in the classic vampire states (bat, wolf, mist), feast on humans or even some monsters and explore various environments.

The game features excellent voice acting and several cinematics. The bugs found on the PlayStation version were corrected for the PC version, and there is even a little extra dialogue (though not much).

No aliens, no mutants, no stupid quest for the dragon's balls. Just good antisocial, psychotic shoot-'em-up action, strategy and government intervention.

Exploit chaos opportunities, mow down marching bands, spray protesters, charbroil whole towns. Look at the world through the eyes of a psycho!

El juego es lo bastante complicado para ser entretenido, ya además la ultraviolencia es opcional (especialmente por parte de los civiles) Si que peca de ser muy repetitivo y de una visión cenital a veces poco adecuada.

Thief: The Dark Project  Eidos (Looking Glass Studios)1998Working title: The Dark Project
Original project title: Dark Camelot***sentient artefact - The Eye
gameplayinn - first person stealth; possibly started the whole stealth game rage.***To call Thief a first-person shooter is to strip away what the game brought to the gaming scene. Set in a magical medieval city, the player is a thief, with the ability to become almost invisible in shadows. And here is where 'first-person sneaker' became it's own genre.

Emphasizing strategy and stealth over raw killing ability, the game brought a new idea to first-person shooters. Sure, the sword and bow are necessary, but the blackjack, and avoiding combat, are even more effective.

Well designed cut scenes, incredible graphics, unmatchable atmosphere, etc etc all meant that Thief was a superb game.

The company, on doing this sequel, had to keep up with the original game's quality and fun. The problem was, without Molyneux.

Thankfully, Bullfrog proved that they can still create classic games even without their former mentor. This game takes everything that made it's prequel great, and improves it all.

Briefly, you an evil dungeon keeper (natch), that has to command the place in your reign of filth and decay. Also, protect the place from those damn goody-two-shoes who try to destroy your underground evil dungeon.

Thief II: The Metal Age  Eidos (Looking Glass Studios)2000This was the most disappointing part of the Thief trilogy for me. The emphasis on steampunk-ish environment and all those steamgolems took the feel of it away. Still, it has the same playability as the other Thief games except for the theme change so gameplay wise it has the same level of excellence with some minor improvement.***A sequel to Thief: The Dark Project. Dungeon Keeper 3: War for the Overworld Electronic Arts (Bullfrog)2000Was cancelled by EA because they acquired the licenses for Harry Potter and the Lord of the Rings, feeling DK3 wouldn't be anywhere near as profitable, so resources were moved from its development to the licensed products (at least U.S. law dictates that they must choose the most profitable courses of action or some such for the shareholders). labelminimizesubject

non-human — although superficially humanoid and even human, closer examination reveals features definitely not part of human physiology. Also, there doesn't seem to be any mention of humans.
anti-hero protagonist — not very obvious, but he wages the war of the gods simply to bide his time and gather strength for his own purposes, regardless of the God he has chosen to serve. Also in the backstory that he relates to Mithras.
adv-deeds — these "deeds" are not revealed until you actually complete them and the rewards are given at the end of each mission. Blood Omen 2  Eidos Interactive (Crystal Dynamics)2002A bit different foray in the game series compared to the others. Blood Omen 2 is tells a small part of Kain's history and storywise is set quite far apart from the rest of the series. This was the most disappointing part of the series, even though the game itself was enjoyable enough, it diverged too much from the main plot of the series.

You play the role of Kain, recently recuperated from wounds done to you two hundred years ago by a Sarafan Lord, though you remember little of it. So you set out, weak as you are, to get back into conquering the world. But the aim here is only to get your sword - the Soul Reaver - back and get your sweet revenge on the Sarafan Lord on the way. This all happens roughly four hundred years after the events of [game=#11237]Blood Omen[/game], and unspecified number of years before the events of [game=#162000]Soul Reaver[/game].
According to Wikipedia, the events of Blood Omen 2 took place _because_ of the events in Soul Reaver 2. The time-twisting and paradoxal time-altering done there was apparently the cause of this.
dementia - the protagonist is clearly insane, seeing himself as literal monster when he enters an adrenaline induced rage, during which he can tear his enemies limb from limb. Others do not see the monster, though. Also considering the final boss is a manifestation of his hate, the events of that fight are rather questionable. There are also other people who are more or less insane, such as Dr. Killjoy.
outlaw protagonist - possibly framed, but this isn't established solidly in the first game. The sequel seemed to expand on this.

The Punisher THQ (Volition)2005There's a fan made "uncensored" patch out there that makes the violence more graphic (more or added blood), removes a black&white effect during some of the more gory events and apparently makes the camera show things from more visible angle.

Not sure if this is only for US and/or UK version of the game as those are specifically mentioned. Other releases of the game may already have all this in.***
Listed in order of gained points, from least to most.

1) Grenades (less than 100, per grenade regardless of the number of kills)
2) Shooting (100 or less)
3) Interrogation/torture + kill with torture (200 for torture) - this is usually accidental as some torture methods are more difficult to control
4) Quick Kill (200 or less)
5) Melee weapons (250 or less, single use) - useful for cases where you have to use Quick Kill
6) Thrown dagger in Punisher Mode (255 with no point degradation)
7) Interrogation/torture + Quick kill (200 or less for torture 100 or less for quick kill)
8) Special kill or special torture on mob with info (usually 500 or more, one use per location)

Point gain dwindles as you repeat the same action (especially with the same weapon), so you may eventually need to switch down on this list, but the point gains reset for each section or level so it isn't so very permanent.

You gain no points for enemies killed by other enemies, so although you can use living shields, it isn't point efficient and poor accuracy from enemies can kill them too even if you aren't holding them as a shield.
Points are used for upgrades, such as increased ammo capacity, some weapon attachments, and such. One of the most useful investments being the upgrade that gives you health from kills, however illogical that is.

Killing perps with torture is worth -20 points and obviously no rewards for successful interrogation or the subsequent Quick Kill.

Torturing wounded enemies is easier as they regain their composure much slower and feel more threatened by it, but as some methods actively harm them, this may result in their untimely death.

Successful interrogation restores a small portion of your health. This is also the only way for recovery besides the upgrade that gives you health from kills.***Minimum:

Controlling a mysterious figure that has inherited the legacy of the evil, long-dead Overlord, the player emerges, near death, from the ruins of the old Overlord's Dark Tower. Only the player's actions will determine if they will rise to become the new all-powerful Overlord; it's all down to how much of a bad ass they want to be in order to succeed... evil or really evil! Played out with plenty of black humour and dark irony, the game will immerse players in twisted parodies of classic fantasy scenarios and characters.

Overlord's key innovation is the introduction of an array of impish creatures - the Minions. They believe you are the old Overlord reborn and will use their unique skills to fetch, fight and die for you. Throughout the game players will actively control a horde of these gremlin-like critters and they'll follow your every instruction no matter how despotic or, for the Minions, life threatening it is.

Nothing worse than playing almost through the game and the save getting corrupted for whatever reason (such as BSOD). The saves are stored in `
%APPDATA%/Ubisoft/Assassin's Creed/Saved Games/
´.***Latest version: 1.02 (as of 2008-05-14)***The story starts with Desmond Miles being kidnapped in 2012 by Abstergo Industries and put into the Animus machine, a device capable of drawing out genetic memories and allowing the user to re-live their ancestors' lives. For Desmond, this is the life of Altaïr Ibn La-Ahad (الطائر), an assassin who lived during the Third Crusade in 1191. Although the story skips the kidnapping and starts with Desmond jagged into the Animus and experiencing some synchronization issues with it.

The game is difficult to categorize and abundantly lampshaded by the fact that most of the game takes place inside the Animus which has been created to produce a video game like experience, so effectively you're playing a video game inside a video game. And the experience produced by the Animus is an abstraction of sorts with various alterations that make it easier for the user to operate it, such as translating all languages to plain English and so forth. So any inconsistencies with reality are due to that, and since memories aren't exactly logical 1 to 1 copies of reality, much illogical instances can occur, some of which can be interpreted to mean some very strange things.

Things you may need to replay the whole game for:
In memory block 4, you have a chance to pickpocket Vidic to get his security pen. This opportunity does not represent itself and replaying the memory block later does not roll back time in the "real world".

After the credits you gain access to the conference room where you need Vidic's pen to access a computer, but there's nothing else after that besides your ability to replay the memory blocks and aim for 100% completion (collecting all the flags, killing the templars, scouting, and doing all the side tasks).
***Minimum:

The Whispered World  Deep Silver;Viva Media (Daedalic Entertainment)2009The Whispered World is an impressive project developed by a graphic designer student in Germany named Marco Hullen. It tells the story of a boy named Sadwick. He roams the country with his family in a circus wagon and earns his living as a clown. One night he has a dream and a blue spirit tells him that he has to embark on a great journey to enlightenment in order to find the sense of life. Since his life as a clown is not a very fulfilling one, he jumps on the opportunity and leaves his family, attempting to trace the great secret. So the great journey through a fantasy world begins. The game includes over 20 sceneries and is sort of a cartoon movie played by your self. Sadwick is accompanied by his pet (a small worm) that will provide some funny moments throughout the game's story. Some of the noteworthy events that will take place in the game include Sadwick meeting a troll under a gigantic bridge, seeing carnivorous birds, entering a village on the back of an eagle and finally solving the mystery of the game in the palace of the mirror natures. In May/2014, a Special Edition was released which included exclusive contents, such as audio comments, featuring the games' authors Jan 'Poki' Mueller-Michaelis and Marco Huellen, a completely overhauled tutorial as well as new achievements.***
