Dragon's Lair Digital Leisure1997Haven't heard of Dragon's Lair?! Well, you play the heroic Dirk the Daring, a valiant knight on a quest to rescue the fair princess from the clutches of an evil dragon! Originally released in the summer of 1983, Dragon's Lair has solidified itself as a cultural icon in gaming.***In 1997, was released as a CD-ROM version as well as a DVD-ROM version, as a direct port from the 1994 MS-DOS version.

In 2001, a slightly modified CD-ROM version of this game was released, and according to the developer, this is the first "arcade authentic" port of Dragon's Lair, even includes the score panel and marquee on screen.

In 2002, a DVD-ROM as well as a CD-ROM version was released with some bonus contents and better graphics.

In 2006, a DVD-ROM HD remake of the game was published.

In 2013, this HD version was available on the STEAM platform for download.

All these versions of the game were published and developed by Digital Leisure.

Starscape Moonpod2003real-time combat - some nodes are devoid of enemy presence (especially after you've destroyed them all), so this is somewhat inaccurate, but (more) enemies can warp in at any time (sort of), so it's sufficient.***If you like arcade shooters and don't mind spending half of your time mining asteroids for minerals, you might actually like this. However, arcade shooter fans will be more at home with this than most others as the game starts to get quite hectic towards the end. Maintaining mineral reserves, protecting the mobile spacestation, and repairing your ship and the station even during the fights will get quite common tasks. Asteroid mining is more required by research and development of new ships and ship hardware than for repairs as some of the larger enemy ships actually leave some minerals or hardware to be used for repairs, often in sufficient numbers. The other part of the game is spent hunting the bigger ships, mostly mining vessels as their destruction detracts the enemy's ability to produce more units within each zone, and to find grid information for important locations not normally shown in the grid map. The game world is split into five zones, each larger than the last, which you can explore in any order you wish but jumping more than one zone will spell certain doom as you need the technology from the previous ones to survive (and unlock the more powerful hardware). The grid and zone maps work in some semi-turn-based fashion, with time passing when you move or when you hit the skip time button. Time also passes freely when inside a grid node, where the game runs in real-time - the enemy continues to produce new units, harvest other grid nodes, and move forces around, even bringing reinforcements occasionally in while you spend your time there. Overall it's a nice game, but towards the end, especially the final boss, you start wishing you hadn't touched the game in the first place - unless you have masochistic tendencies with video games.***Minimum:

The thing they think is running is literally sprinting largely accomplished by the aid of the HEV suit (a type of utility power armor) Gordon is wearing. From the official site:
By taking the suspense, challenge and visceral charge of the original, and adding startling new realism and responsiveness, Half-Life 2 opens the door to a world where the player's presence affects everything around him, from the physical environment to the behaviors -- even the emotions -- of both friends and enemies.

The player again picks up the crowbar of research scientist Gordon Freeman, who finds himself on an alien-infested Earth being picked to the bone, its resources depleted, its populace dwindling. Freeman is thrust into the unenviable role of rescuing the world from the wrong he unleashed back at Black Mesa. And a lot of people -- people he cares about -- are counting on him.

Ys: The Oath in Felghana  Falcom;XSEED Games (Falcom)2005When redheaded thrill-seeker Adol Christin and his eternal blue-haired companion Dogi make an unannounced visit to Dogi's homeland of Felghana after an eight-year absence, it quickly becomes apparent that things have changed dramatically. Ys Origin  Nihon Falcom;XSEED (Nihon Falcom)2006700 years before the events of Ys I & II, the land of Ys was on the brink of destruction. Demons came in droves and forced the twin Goddesses who ruled the land to whisk their subjects away from the surface, into the safe embrace of the clouds. The demons were persistent, however, erecting a massive tower in pursuit. The battle that raged upon the ground had begun ascending for a second round up above.

One day, amidst this turmoil, the Goddesses stole away into the night, vanishing from Ys altogether. And there's only one place they could have gone: the Devil's Tower.

A search party of knights and sorcerers was hastily formed and dispatched to the surface in hopes of retrieving these runaway deities. Among its members were apprentice knight Yunica Tovah and troubled sorcerer Hugo Fact.

This is their story. Or at least, it's how each of them remembers it.

Expanding upon the gameplay elements introduced in Ys: The Ark of Napishtim and further developed in Ys: The Oath in Felghana, Ys Origin perfects the formula by adding different styles of play and new features never before seen in the Ys universe. Best described as an arcade-like platformer RPG with Metroidvania elements and a complex, multi-faceted narrative, Ys Origin is the perfect mix of action, exploration and story. Screen-filling bosses with complex AI, unique platforming elements, innovative puzzles and a deeply involving mystery await within the wildly varied confines of this classic Ys dungeon.

Come see how long you can last in the Devil's Tower...

Key Features:
* Officially available in English for the very first time.
* Three unique playable characters in story mode, with additional variations (and characters?) unlockable through other modes.
* Five difficulty levels ranging from "Very Easy" for casual players to "Nightmare" for true Ys masters.
* Unlockable "Time Attack" and "Boss Rush" modes for anyone looking to show off his/her boss-taming abilities.
* Unlockable Arena Mode pits players against massive hordes of enemies for unique gameplay rewards.
* Over 40 unique Steam Achievements, Steam Cloud support and hundreds of highly competitive leaderboards.
* Minutely configurable high-resolution graphics with true widescreen support.
* Fully adjustable controls supporting virtually any USB gamepad, as well as a standard keyboard and mouse setup.***Steam/English release was on 2012-05-31***Prequel to the whole Ys series and the second game that doesn't revolve around Adol Christin (first was Ys Strategy), set some 700 years before the events of Ancient Ys Vanished (Ys 1&2).

This standalone game features two unique armies with full length campaigns. Players will experience fast-paced dynamic tactics like never before, in two of the most brutal World War II campaigns ever fought. Take command of the tenacious British 2nd Army in the vicious battle for Caen, France, or lead the German Panzer Elite as they struggle to repel the largest airborne invasion in history.

With two intensely cinematic campaigns, mission persistence, improved vehicle AI and weather effects that directly impact the battlefield, Company of Heroes: Opposing Fronts supports DirectX 10 and is fully compatible with the original Company of Heroes. Battle online with these two all-new armies and utilize full compatibility with the original Company of Heroes for a total of four playable armies - allowing players to wage the ultimate war for Fortress Europe.
FeaturesFeatures

* Bigger – Play as the British or Germans in two intensely cinematic campaigns.
* Better looking – DX10 support and significant upgrades to the Essence Engine.
* Smarter – Improved vehicle AI and path-finding.
* More Realistic – All new weather effects directly impact the battlefield.
[Relic]***Introduces two new armies, the British 2nd and the German Panzer Elite, both with their own all new campaigns, too.

British are slow-moving and highly defensive army and apparently has movable base unlike all the other armies, as well as tank airdrop and many other interesting and unique abilities.

Panzer Elite on the other hand is a low number force of, you know, elite forces who're more suited for rushing the enemy in Blitzkrieg tactics and specializes on vehicular combat more than any other army.

Apparently You won't need to have Opposing Fronts to play against their armies after a new patch is rolled out for the original game, although you won't be able to play _as_ either of the new armies if you don't get the expansion, nor likely are you able to play the two old armies if you don't have the original, but you can still play against those who either have only the expansion or only the original even if you only have the other.

Lonely, restless Naija has spent her entire life wrestling with questions about her identity. We join her as she takes her first steps away from the comfort of home and into new, potentially dangerous waters. Through exploration and magical combat, Naija will unearth the history of Aquaria and connect with beings lost in the depths of time. On the search to discover the fate of her people, her destiny and that of Aquaria's will be forever altered.

A massive, underwater fantasy world to explore

Aquaria is an action-oriented, non-linear 2D side-scrolling game. Using an intuitive and fluid mouse control system, Naija can deftly swim through and explore a massive, handcrafted world that is teeming with undersea life. Along the way, she will encounter literally hundreds of different types of plants and animals and explore many ingame miles of hidden caves, lost ruins, and other strange places.

As kids, we grew up playing the brilliant 2D action and roleplaying games of the time. With Aquaria, we've aimed to capture the excitement of those games in a new way, using updated technology, controls, and visuals. This is a game with a very personal touch, from the characters and story to the creature interaction and expansive environments.

Seamless, non-linear gameplay

In order to make the experience as engaging as possible, we created an interface that lets the player easily control Naija with just a two-button mouse. The HUD is minimal (restricted to only a minimap in the lower-right corner of the screen). In place of textual dialogue that most games rely on we used voice acting to drive the story without interrupting the gameplay.

Through a realtime interface, Naija can sing songs and cast spells without going to a menu screen. With practice, these spells can be cast easily to interact with the environment, solve puzzles, or combine them for strategic effect during combat. Certain spells will allow you to change form, creating new ways of playing the game depending on the form chosen.

* 1 GB RAM
* Radeon X800 or Geforce 7600 GPU

The game is supposed to be the first part of a series, with the next game or games not set on earth and humans possibly gaining their own faction, signaling some form of profound leaps in their technological level, presumably from studying the salvaged wrecks of the three alien races or being aided by either Novus or the Masari. This remains to be seen, though.***Universe at War: Earth Assault is the next sci-fi real-time strategy game from Petroglyph, the award-winning studio comprised of team members that developed the original Command & Conquer and C&C: Red Alert. The latest strategy game from these RTS pioneers features unprecedented levels of customization and an epic storyline set on near-future Earth.

Powerful forces from across the universe have brought war to our planet. In Universe at War, you take command of several unique factions with awesome powers and spectacular units. Control massive-scale alien war machines that are fully customizable. With "Tactical Dynamics," Universe at War's on-the-fly customization system, you can dynamically swap out weaponry, rework your tech tree, and retrain units in the middle of combat to thwart your foe and seize the advantage.

Universe at War features large-scale environmental destruction in a persistent world - level a city and when you come back, the area will still be a smoking ruin. Here, though, the environments you fight for are close to home, as you wage war across familiar Earth cities and landmarks.

Universe at War also introduces numerous innovative new multiplayer features inspired by today's top MMOs and competitive online games, giving players achievements, rewards, and medals in a balanced environment with intelligent matchmaking.

Features:
* Unprecedented unit and faction customization give players the ability to change units and research in the middle of combat to overcome any challenge
* Unique multiplayer achievements that improve players' online avatars
* Unique multiplayer game modes
* Environmental destruction and manipulation in a persistent world
* Dual-layered gameplay featuring intense tactical battles and a strategic global mode where players manage resources, consolidate territories, and maneuver armies
* Real-world, modern-day environments
* Three unique factions with different play styles and abilities
* Special hero units with unique abilities
* Massive-scale units that dwarf conventional RTS units
* On-demand UI that doesn't clutter your view of the battle

Harvest: Massive Encounter Oxeye Game Studio2008Harvest: Massive Encounter is an award-winning arcade real-time strategy game for Mac OS X and Windows with battles of epic proportions and a unique style of resource management and exploration. In this 2D fantasy you take on the role as the base commander of a space colony far, far away, and must use five building types in a creative way to efficiently expand and defend it. Build power plants, mineral harvesters and defense towers and make sure they have sufficient energy to fend off endless hordes of evil aliens. The game offers a vast array of possible strategies with these simple rules, and will compel you to try new and better base designs every time.***Worlds:
* Haphaestus
... Unique aliens: Teleporter, Flea
... Conditions: normal
* Poseidon
... Unique aliens: Monocle
... Conditions: strong winds throw aliens around; wind direction and areas where they work are largely static
* Ares
... Unique aliens: Energy Sapper
... Conditions: massive holes in the terrain limit building and alien invasion possibilities

Tips:
* Laser tower links grant immediate range bonus, but the damage bonus takes half a second or so to bring up each link online. Damage tolerance for most aliens caps at around 8500%, so linking more towers (after the first or second link) for damage is no longer efficient (range bonus is still useful, though), build another linked tower network instead.
* You will never defend your base with a single massive linked laser, no matter how it covers the whole map (caused by limited rotation speed).
* Each linked tower grants 50% damage boost and 13% range boost.
* Unlinked towers are still useful on the front lines, especially against Gehenna shuttles.
* Overcharging an energy link costs you only 2 resources and easily destroys over 20 aliens. Especially useful when your defences are about to be overrun. Redirect energy output to the overcharged link. However, overusing this can deprive your regular base defences of energy to operate, so don't abuse it!
* Tweak those attack priorities!***All but the Wave game mode lack ending, all others endlessly increase difficulty and the number of aliens that appear with each wave until your defences are finally overpowered. The goal is to survive as many waves as possible for as long as possible. Made difficult by the need to expand your base to gather more resources, though made slightly easier by linking the laser towers for increased damage and range, so they never really lose their usefulness.

* 1.01 (?)***Not as great as I expected, and the driving around in Mako is horrible most of the time as well as the final bit of the ending just makes me feel sickly. My recommendation is, if you want to enjoy this game, stick to the main story and avoid any side exploration/quests completely, and try to bear the last bit of the ending (the parts where humans talk). Replayability comes mostly from dialogs as otherwise the game gets quite dull, and unfortunately you need those dialogs to progress your renegade/paragon ranks to open the more interesting dialog choices since these are separate from your regular leveling and skills.***Free expansions:

Buccaneer: The Pursuit of Infamy Blitz Arcade (Stickman Studios)2008Other than the frequent CTDs (consistently does so when you try to save after even single mission), muted and occasionally rapidly multiplying sounds (and sometimes they even start floating around irrespective of their source), difficult aiming (I have only vague impression on where the cannons are and where they're pointed), Buccaneer fails to deliver enjoyable pirate experience.***Minimum:

A horde of enemies is invading, and it's up to the player to stop them by strategically building fortification towers around their base. The controls are intuitive and the gameplay is deep — the special attacks and properties of each tower work together to provide many ways to succeed.

* High Replayability There are approximately 8 hours of gameplay in the main storyline, and many hours of play in challenge modes that give players unique starting conditions and objectives. Each game level is very replayable, and can be solved in many different ways, with increasing rewards for improved efficiency.
* Wide Variety of Enemies Over the course of the game, players battle 15 different enemy types that become increasingly stronger, and employ a variety of strategies in an attempt to bypass the player's defenses. As the levels progress, the enemies become tougher and more difficult to defeat.

* Numerous Tower Options and Upgrades There are 10 different tower types with 3 levels of capability each. Each tower has unique trade offs that affect ideal placement, such as line-of-sight attack or ballistic trajectory fire. Some towers improve other nearby towers, and some are ideal at specific locations, such as a rear guard tower that unleashes a devastating attack.
* Steam Achievements Successfully completing each level provides a bronze achievement award. Additional goals provide silver and gold awards for a particular level. Dawn of War II  THQ (Relic Entertainment)2009It’s the 41st Millennium in the Sub-Sector Aurelia – a cluster of worlds on the edge of the galaxy – where a battle of epic proportions is about to commence. Ancient races will clash across the planets that dot this sector of space, battling for the greatest of stakes – not only for control of Sub-Sector Aurelia – but the fate of each race.

With a focus on fast-action RTS gameplay, Dawn of War II brings to life the science fiction universe of Warhammer 40,000 like never before. Experience the intimate brutality of battle as you play through your chosen race’s epic campaign. Clash with the enemies on battlefield ablaze with visceral melee and ranged combat. Lead and develop your squads from raw recruits into the most battle hardened veterans in the galaxy. Also included is The Last Stand, a co-operative game mode featuring user controlled heroes fighting waves of enemies.***Deviating a lot from the first Dawn of War, this RTS plays more like a tactical-action (Commandos) than a strategy game (even with is touches of Command and Conquer)

Pros:
-Great controls, even to seem easy to use many units in the field.
-Equipment and leveling up: brings some roleplay elements in the development of your team.
-Tyranids.
-3 game modes: campaign (Space Marines cleansing places), coop defense (pick your hero and prepare to withstands waves of enemies) and multiplayer (a mix between a hero RTS and a MOBA)

Cons:
-Too many times soldiers adopt stupid covers (like being in the two sides of a trench)

6 of 10***DoW2 is perhaps best defined as tactical RPG than strategy RPG, with RPG elements mostly covering only how good your characters are doing their stuff and the otherwise equipment based system. There's no role-playing to speak of, though.***Tagline: "Your slavery to the False Emperor ends today!"***Latest version: 2.2.0 (as of 2010-04-??)

Version history:
* 1.3.2 (2009-05-14)***Although the devs/publishers touted a lot about new approach to RTS with the title, the only thing I noticed to be truly new (for the type of RTS DoW2 is) was that your troops couldn't be killed for real. Few units (4 squads total in this case) to somewhat non-linear tactical missions have been done before, although none before in my experience are so lenient on the matter. Your squads can't be killed since only the squad leader is actually important and he can only be knocked unconscious. If all squads become unconscious, emergency evac is pulled and the squads and their leaders are back to full strength as if nothing happened. You lose the turn in the overworld meta-game with a lost battle, but that's hardly anything new. The squad leaders gain experience and level up occasioally, which can be spent on very few areas of interest, and they can be given new equipment which most of the time just makes them more powerful, resilient and generally more efficient.

Each map has several teleport beacons scattered around where squads can be re-inforced, 2 secondary objectives which can be completed, and the primary objective. These are invariably(?) placed at the 4 corners of the tactical map. You can perform multiple attacks on single turn if you perform sufficiently well in a battle, but this is usually unlikely on harder difficulty settings. Each map also holds a boss at the primary objective location who usually has 200 times (and more) as much health as the more regular units from the tougher end. On harder difficulty settings these become rather dreary as you spend most of the time resuscitating unconscious squad leaders and doing round-trips to teleport beacons for re-inforcements than actually fighting the bosses.

In conclusion, the base tactical gameplay is interesting like in any other tactical game, but all value is lost from the fact that you can practically never lose and success in missions is purely based on how well you manage to keep at least one squad conscious long enough to get the others back up, beyond that, all your great tactical plans are pointless except to reduce the number of times you need to get the squads back up.***2009-01-19 gone gold

And Yet It Moves Broken Rules2009(Jugado de principio a fin, epílogo sin completar)

6 de 10***"And Yet It Moves" is basically a mixture between a jump and run and a puzzle game, with the extra ability to rotate the world. The player can run left, right and jump, but can also turn the world clockwise and counterclockwise by 90 degrees. When this happens physics works the following way: as soon as rotation starts all objects get frozen and after rotation objects continue to move with their velocities (direction and speed) they had before. With this ability you can move objects and yourself but also need to keep orientation and watch out for dangerous situations. Don't worry though, you're made out of paper so you can die as often as you want to.

The overall goal is to get through this collage of ripped paper. And if you are quick - and don't die too often - you might get a good rank in our global highscore list.

This is a gameconcept for a mediainformatics course held by the igw at Vienna University of Technology. We made two levels that show different aspects of how actual gameplay could be like. The first level - the cave - is more jump and run style and is an easy one where you can practice and improve your rotation skills. The second one - the jungle - is an advanced level with more sophisticated puzzles. To solve them you have to apply the physical consequences of rotating the world to the player and other objects simultaneously.
