Fallout Interplay (Black Isle Studios)1997A great post-apocalyptic RPG, with good atmosphere and great feeling about scarceness of resources.
Sadly, is too short, but with an incredibly good story and even alternative endings.***
[53]***Set in the aftermath of a worldwide nuclear war, FALLOUT will challenge you to survive in an unknown and dangerous world. You will take the role of a Vault-dweller, a person who has grown up in a secluded, underground survival Vault. Circumstances arise that force you to go Outside to a strange world 80 years after the end of the modern civilization. A world of mutants, radiation, gangs and violence. Your immediate task is to find a replacement for the broken water purification controller chip. Without that chip, your fellow Vault dwellers are doomed to dehydration or are forced to leave the safety of the Vault for the Outside.***2009-08-19 on Steam, by Interplay (lang: eng, fre, spa, ger)***Latest version: 1.2 (as of ?)

Fallout 2  Interplay (Black Isle Studios)1998Improves everything in the first game, especially exploration.
The only thing to blame is a kind of fixed ending in comparition with the first game, and an antagonist not so interesting as The Master.

9 de 10***In this postnuclear role-playing game, you are the Chosen One, the direct descendant of the Vault Dweller. The village elders have selected you to wear the sacred Vault-suit of your grandsire and, in time, to ascend to the leadership of your people. First you must prove your devotion to your people. Your tribe needs help. If you are truly the Chosen One, then you alone are capable of claiming the heritage of the Vault Dweller to take back your birthright. Your tribe has survived over 10 years of drought, but now their reserves are at an end. You must find Vault 13 and claim the technology that your tribe needs to survive. If you fail in this quest, your tribe will surely die. You must travel the perilous Wastes on a holy quest to find Vault 13--the same Vault that cruelly cast your grandsire out into the Wastes 80 years ago. The Vault owes you. The Vault owes your tribe. Now it is time to collect.***2009-08-19 on Steam, by Interplay (lang: eng, fre, ger)***censored - at least UK and German releases had the children removed.***It's a CRPG set in a Post Apocalyptic world. Uses the AD&D ruleset. is set in Forgotten realms where Baldur's Gate is a location. This game begins the Baldur's Gate series. Players can create and name Human, Elf, Dwarf, Half-Elf, Halfling, and Gnome characters of either gender of the Fighter, Mage, Thief, Cleric, Ranger, Druid, or Paladin classes. Some classes can engage in sorcery according to the AD&D ruleset. Players can also dual-class or multi-class according the AD&D ruleset. In a 1-player game, the player controls an entire party, in multiplayer games, each player can control one or more characters (or none at all). Players must cooperate, there is no competitive options in the game. There are multiple ways for a character to summon underlings for temporary help. Characters must sleep or suffer the effects of fatigued. Characters can also become poisoned, confused, charmed, enfeebled, paralyzed, turned to stone, encumbered, impaired, or drunk if the character does avoid situations that lead to such effects. The detail of the fantasy world this game takes place in seems to qualify it as belonging to the high fantasy genre. Characters can use bows, crossbows, slings, knives, swords, axes, bludgeons, pole arms, whips, or fight unarmed (non-lethal). A vast number of items can be aquired from stashes in the world, on defeated foes, or purchased from shops or individuals. The AI of the player's characters can be programmed in a scriptable language. But this is highly optional as adequate AIs are provided or the player can pause constantly to direct everybody with point-n-click commands; then unpause for as long as those commands are helpfully being executed. (Documentation for Scripting can be found on the 1st CD. Users have created AIs that can be found online and loaded into an existing game). Many NPC can be joined to the party and left to retrieve later. Some will leave if they are unhappy with the main characters actions. Evil people prefer the main character to do evil, good characters prefer good. Some NPC have their on purposes for joining and will stay of leave depending on the changing conditions matching their goals or not. The experience system follows the AD&D ruleset. This includes XP awarded for defeating enemies and for completing quests (which are documented on-the-fly in an automated journal that also records some plot information). The XP required to level up are preset according the the AD&D ruleset. When leveling up (at the players initiation, once the require XP are collected), skill points are awarded that can be distributed to a subset of skills available to the character's class (not all AD&D skills are included in this game). Several small village/towns can be visited and Baldur's Gate is a massive 10+ levels (not counting interiors that include multistory buildings) of civilization that approaches the definition of a city. Several large keeps make up whole levels (again not counting interiors that include multistory buildings). Several tall towers can be explored. Many multilevel mines and dungeons can or must be explored. Developers comments can be read on some tombstones a cemetery.
Bauldur's Gate has a sewer system as a location.
. Books, scrolls, and documents in the game offer extraneous details about the Forgotten Realms and Bauldur's Gate area, plot background, plot information, and character advancement training (rare). The game can be configured to run from the various CD or have them installed to hard drive per CD. But, upon running the game will require CD 1 to be in the drive for copy egest.
The plot shares some similarities to events in the Book of The Watchers (from the Book of Enoch, an apocryphal Jewish writing). [Blizzard]***If you're even thinking about buying Diablo 2, then say goodbye to family, friends, and your job. Run away to Mexico if you have to, because Diablo 2 is too good. It's one of those games that keep you awake at night. It makes you think about gold and magic items while your working. You'll miss entire meals for this game. It's so good it's scary.
That's right, folks, evil is back, and badder than ever. Your job, again, is to stop evil from destroying the world. You do it by hacking millions of demons and goblins to pieces, gaining experience, and finding magical items. Basically, this is the formula for the entire game, and it's more fun than should be allowed by law.

Gothic  Egmont Interactive;Xicat Interactive (Piranha Bytes)2001This nice German developed RPG adventure is set against the backdrop of a landscape savaged by war, the King of the human territories must find enough ore to forge weapons for his army to use in defence against the Orc Hordes. The King's mines are set in a large magical sphere and are worked by prisoners captured from across the kingdom. And it is into this sphere that you are thrown, charged with the task of delivering a letter – a letter that might just mark the turning point in the war against the Orcs. The Gothic world is constantly changing and evolving: events will occur that can alter the relationships between several groups of characters. NPCs are fully rounded with their own daily habits and relationships: they get up, work, go to bed, chat with each other and so on. More significantly, monsters cooperate with each other and are able to figure things out; they have individual perception. Some can be lured with food or noise, some will run away from bright light. Some can only hear or detect movement. Each character has the ability, with the correct training, to improve particular skills as the game progresses: training with the master of the sword, for example, will result in a character displaying noticeably more skilled swordsmanship. It is so much more satisfying to witness the effect of the skills you have learnt when they are visible in your character as oppose to a meaningless number rating, improving say, from 8 to 10. These 'optical' improvements are for the whole range of skills included in Gothic. The two different classes of magic (which are absolutely independent from each other) work along the same lines.***

Arx Fatalis  JoWood Productions (Arkane Studios)2002Cast away from the surface of the Earth by the disappearance of the sun, Mankind lived hidden underground in the Fortress of Arx. Humans only have magic left to survive against Ratmen, Dragons and starvation...

But a much greater danger is hovering above the world of Arx Fatalis. Lurking in the eternal darkness of the mines, it feeds off the innocent souls of the city. It is not a monster. It is not human. It is pure evil.

The adventure has just started, and soon,
the fate of Arx, will be in your hands.

Arx Fatalis is a medieval heroic fantasy first person role playing game which places the accent on immersion, storyline and innovative magic system.

Arx Fatalis is intended for RPG and adventure players.

Dive into the universe of Arx

Arx Fatalis is an RPG that thrusts the player into an extremely complex fantastic world. Arx Fatalis combines a rich storyline with impressive medieval settings. The easy to use interface results in maximum interaction. The player is in an intense immersion state where he can feel how each one of his actions affects the surrounding world. The goal of the game is to reduce to nothing the cult of Akbaa, God of destruction and Chaos, and thus, prevent him from returning to the physical world. If the player fails, the demon will crush Arx under its rule of blood and terror.

The player, assuming the role of potential hero, fights in a large underground fortress, with wood clubs, swords, lances. and many magic artifacts, against the threat of multiple underground creatures (Goblins, Trolls, Ratmen and other vicious creatures.)

But rough power is not always the best road to victory. The hero may also use the new "screen magic" to advance. By using the mouse, magic runes have to be drawn and combined on screen in order to create powerful spells that will protect the player or give him the strength to defeat his enemies and to complete his quest.

In addition to the fight against demons and monsters, there is also a practically infinite number of interactions with the creatures and objects in the fortress, which enable the player to regain his memory, solve enigmas, and fulfill quests. By accumulating experience points, the player is able to lead his hero and train him any way he wants.

Dare to enter the world of Arx Fatalis. Explore the underground cities, secret temples, ancient mine tunnels, discover forgotten civilizations and dominate the magic of Arx Fatalis...***The game may suffer from severe flickering and depth buffer issues under some circumstances. The actual cause is unknown as it fixed itself and I failed to reproduce it.

Bumb mapping used by the game is one of the earliest methods and causes some graphical glitching on at least NV's GPUs (buttons and doorways otherwise revealed by sufficiently high intuition are colored almost pitch black). Therefore it is recommended you disable it.

Forcing anti-aliasing causes some text to disappear, the game itself has no anti-aliasing options so this is only reminder not to do it in externally.***Minimum:

Gothic 2: The Night of the Raven  JoWooD Productions (Piranha Bytes)2003"When you're in need of something and don't know where to find it, go to Khorinis. There you can surely buy it." -- Saying (author unknown) The mine valley of Khorinis. The glorious days of the once productive mines in this small seaside region were long over. Surrounded by the impenetrable magical barrier, the slaves eked out their miserable existence in this apparently natural prison.
One brave man managed to burst the bonds of imprisonment. Following his own call to freedom, he ventured deep into the subterranean temples. Willing to do whatever was necessary, he went out to banish Evil and destroy the magical barrier forever. Spurred by the hatred of men long-suppressed, the prisoners streamed trough the only pass to freedom.
No one in Khorinis had been prepared for this. Too long had they lived under the deceptive notion of security granted by the apparently indestructible magical dome. The small militia garrison could not put up enough forces against the onrush. After numerous bloody clashes, many captives escaped and found safety in the woods or rugged mountains of the surrounding countryside.
The steadily escalating number of raids in the vicinity of the town wall and the bandits' ever-increasing boldness seemed to paralyze the whole town. Angered by the militia's inability to protect their farms, some of the farmers formed an alliance with the refugees, no longer willing to pay allegiance to the king.
Khorinis is facing an uncertain future. Due to the farmers' decreasing production, more and more of the food deliveries do not take place, and the stocks diminish continuously. The militia's might ends at the town gate. Outside the town wall, nobody is safe from the bandits' armed raids. There is war in Khorinis. A civil war.
But there is something else that could not be foreseen. Evil is not dead, rearing its ugly head again. But this time it is set on delivering the deathblow to humanity, and no one can stop it.
No one?***Adds one more area to the game as well as re-balances the gameplay otherwise. Pretty much like a huge patch.***English version was released as part of the Gothic 2 Gold combined re-release (2005-11-29), never sold in English separately.

Universe
Planet Atys is a living world, with five rich and diverse ecosystems. A powerful AI technology makes flora and fauna interact dynamically with each other and the ever-changing environment.

Freedom
Choose and fully customize a character from any of the four races of Atys. The skill-based action tree then allows gain experience in fighting, magic, crafting and/or foraging as well as customizing your own spells and special attacks (thousands of possible combinations!).

Roleplay
Your actions influence the story arc. Large-scale events are organized around players' wishes to provide more entertainment.

Consensual PvP
Different types of PvP combat coexist in The Saga of Ryzom, and - since not everyone likes PvP - you can choose whether or not to get involved. If you are looking to engage in players combats, the game offers various possibilities: Duels, GvG, FvF and full PvP.

Community
Available in English, French and German, The Saga of Ryzom enjoys a friendly and mature community. Ensuring good communication between players and developers is a key priority, so both can work hand in hand

Sudeki  Zoo Digital Publishing (Climax)2005combo moves - timed freeform three-part combination of the two attack buttons (all combinations work, producing different final hits). Consider that normal hit does some 10-20 damage and the final hit of a combo does 200, these are well worth the negligible effort (especially considering the simplest combinations seem to be the most useful).

There's a very hackish solution to this however. You need to uncompress
sudeki.cab
and
sudeki1.cab
into some folder on your harddrive and then create a .bat with the following contents.

6 de 10***distorted vision - getting poisoned causes this***Shadowgrounds breathes fresh air into the action genre with explosive combat sequences, an innovative weapon upgrade system, and an intriguing storyline. The adrenaline-pumping, top-down gameplay and audiovisual fireworks set the scene for this new action experience which also includes single computer (split keyboard or joystick) co-op play.

UPGRADE THOSE WEAPONS! Use a devastating arsenal of high-tech weaponry to dispose of the alien threat. Each weapon has multiple upgrades that maximize the carnage. Unleash the flames of the Flamethrower's Fuel Trap, cause mayhem with the Grenade Launcher's Poison Grenades, slash and dice the monsters with the Laser Rifle's Pinpoint Laser - and many more!

WHAT LURKS IN THE SHADOWS? Shadowgrounds uses cutting-edge realistic lighting and glow technology to light up the battlefield and create detailed shadows producing an atmosphere of fear. But the lighting and the flashlight also affect some aliens' behavior – take advantage of that and you can turn the tide in the game of fear by using your flashlight effectively.

DESTRUCTIBLE ENVIRONMENT! What good are weapons and special effects if you can't wreak havoc on the environment? Shadowgrounds lets you go all-out - glass shatters, ground shakes, trees fall, barrels explode and furniture blows to smithereens. You can use the environment to your advantage.

THEY'RE BIG AND NASTY! Big, brutal monsters await you. Prepare to face many different bosses who will do anything to stop your journey. They're nasty, blood-thirsty beasts, but don't give in to fear - remember to use the environment and the lighting to your advantage!

* Upgrade weaponry with powerful modifications.
* Face enormous monsters in boss battles.
* Destructible environment allows you to wreak havoc with your arsenal.
* Visit many exciting locations, including a secret military base and the alien-infested colony New Atlantis.
* Fight side-by-side with NPC allies against the massive alien hordes.
* Check security cameras and computer logs to investigate alien origins.
* Realistic lighting with gameplay effects bring the aliens out of the shadows.
* Enjoy horrifying sound effects and a thrilling music soundtrack made exclusively for Shadowgrounds.

* GeForce 8800 or Radeon HD2600 Pro***Original Russian version was released in 2006-03, English translated version was released on 2009-10-31.***Planet Alcatraz is a 3D role playing game with isometric projection. The player travels through the game world and fights against enemies in the real-time mode. In a general sense Planet Alcatraz can be portrayed as a non-linear adventure with lots of shooting. Several genres are mixed in this game but despite that fact it isn't stuck between them and appears to be a classical RPG that is based on a specially developed system.

The action takes place on prison planet Alcatraz. Its inhabitants are inveterate criminals that were banished there for the life term for their terrible crimes. The main objective of the game is to control a sabotage group that consists of the only one person in the beginning and enlarges through the game. The player has to use all sorts of resources and means to accomplish the mission.

Key Features:
* A great number of key features make Planet Alcatraz unlike other games, but fans of such projects as Crusader: No Regret, Fallout Tactics, Star Wars: Knights of Old Republic, Silent Storm and Rage of Mages will certainly find it very attractive;
* Absolutely unique universe
* Creation of the main character allows changing basic characteristics and appearance including facial animation based on LifeMode technology
* Advanced role and fighting systems developed specially for that game
* Tense atmosphere determined by deep immersion to planet's criminal world
* Modern 3D engine
* Comprehensive dialogue system allowing the player to choose the way of behaving and communication on his own
* Possibility to influence on NPC either in moral or physical manner
* About 100 kinds of cold steel and firearms
* About 200 characters involved in dialogues
* About 80 original monsters, including flying and poisonous
* Cinematic trailers competently interlaced with the story line
* Thrilling non-linear plot line teemed with plenty of keen occurrences
* Fights and adventures with different behavioral and battle options

The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion  2K Games;Bethesda Softworks (Bethesda Game Studios)2006Oblivion is set during the Third Era, six years after the events of The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind, although it is not a direct sequel to it or any other game. The game is set in Cyrodiil—a province of Tamriel, the continent on which all the games in the series have so far taken place.

The story begins with the player imprisoned in a cell for an unknown crime. Emperor Uriel Septim VII, accompanied by Imperial bodyguards known as the Blades, arrives in the prison, fleeing from assassins who have murdered the emperor's three sons and are now targeting him. The emperor and the Blades reveal that the player's jail cell contains a secret entrance to a part of the city's sewer that functions as an escape route. Pardoned by the emperor, the player follows the group into the sewer, where they come under attack by assassins. The blade captain is cut down during the fighting that ensues. Knowing he is destined to die by the hands of the assassins, Uriel Septim entrusts the player with the Amulet of Kings, worn by the Septim emperors of Tamriel, and orders the player to take it to a man named Jauffre, the grandmaster of the Blades, at Weynon Priory. Immediately afterward, one of the assassins kills the emperor. The player escapes the sewer and heads out into the open world of Cyrodiil.***

Shivering Isles is also DLC but adds ~30 hours of gameplay and is considered an actual expansion rather than minor add-on.***Performance optimization:
1) In
Oblivion.ini
set
iMinGrassSize=130
(default: 80), this makes grass more sparse (the grass is mostly CPU intensive).
2) Disable HDR and use only Bloom effect (HDR in Oblivion is very hackish anyway). In most other games HDR doesn't cause much performance issues nor looks as garish as it does in Oblivion.
3) In
Oblivion.ini
set
bDSoundHWAcceleration=0
(default: 1, eanbled) if sounds are strange.

Anything else is just choosing right quality vs speed trade-off with video settings.

Crashes:
4) In case of random crashes, try running the game on single core.

Other:
5) There are plenty of user made mods that make the game look prettier, but this is usually accomplished with higher polycount models and larger textures, so if you have trouble running the game as is, don't even dream of it. Not that the performance is any issue for hardware people are transitioning to now.***?? 2007? --- Game of the Year (GOTY) edition with [game=#161048]Shivering Isles[/game] and [game=#159888]Knights of the Nine[/game] expansions.
INT 2009-06-16 on Steam, by Bethesda Softworks (lang: eng) --- GOTY edition, includes Knights of the Nine and the Shivering Isles expansions.***Oblivion, when it still wasn't out in the light, held my hopes of redeeming the errors done in Morrowind for the series, but woe it was not to be so. Oblivion is much like Morrowind, except they ruined the beast races' looks even more (though I kinda like it they chose not to use digitigrade legs for them instead of vainly trying to get them to work like they tried in Morrowind - it was a horrible sight if you don't know).

Anyways, Oblivion did have many improvements over Morrowind, the graphic mood isn't as happy as in Morrowind, but still needs work to reach what it was In Daggerfall to really suit my taste (Battlespire and Redguard had the mood right, too). The graphic side really had gained some improvement (mostly just tech eyecandy), except the land still looks like it's made of bent plastic like in Morrowind.

Unsurprisingly the AI seems to have received extremely little attention, with the opponents blindly rushing in at you or blasting from afar with little regard to tactics or anything else than to attack and.. well.. attack. The last time I saw AI this weak was in Serious Sam, but that game didn't really need it. Still, You'd have expected Oblivion to have something more advanced but no, it seems they ignored it completely.

It's also sad that they still rely on level-scaling the opponents to keep the "challenge" up, but that makes the world seem ridiculous since everything becomes tougher with you. So, in the end, you don't kick the ass out of those pesky rats any more easily then than you did when you just started out of the prison, which leaves room to question, what is the leveling there really for? It seems as if you leveling up means the world is becoming more and more dangerous simply because _you_ are becoming better (by around level 20 pretty much every bandit and God knows what is wearing full Daedric armour and weapons all enchanted to the brink with who knows what), raising curious questions about what your character really is to cause such grand change in the order of things.

Your actions still go largely unnoticed by others and have little impact on things that you can do, making one wonder what they really did for the series. The story goes on, the series gets better tech, but the gameplay stays the same crappy self from year to year.

If they ever decide to make fifth chapter, well... if it looks like nothing's changed from this for the better, then my hope for the series will be gone for good.***Game links:

It takes the player from the tiniest of villages into a sweeping tale of danger and war, chronicling their rise from a peasant to a full-fledged hero of the Realms, defending it against one of the greatest threats of the age.

Build a character that suits your style of play - good or evil, chaotic or lawful, with any number of skills, feats and professions available at the click of a button. Whether lobbing fireballs and researching forgotten spells as a powerful Wizard, hacking a trail through legions of orcs as a Fighter armed only with a battle axe and your courage, or taking on the role of a Rogue that can slip into the shadows at a moment's notice, the choice is yours. Choose your alignment, your allies, your companions, and how you want your character to develop... design the character you want, role-play the way you want, and carry the battle to the enemy.

The design aspects of Neverwinter Nights 2 don't stop there, however. [Atari]***Neverwinter Nights 2 is the sequel to one of the best-selling and genre-defining role-playing games ever, set in the popular Dungeons & Dragons Forgotten Realms universe created by Wizards of the Coast.

Bards sing tales of heroes from ages past, but never have the Forgotten Realms so desperately needed a champion. Years have passed since the war between Luskan and Neverwinter, almost enough time for the wounds of war to heal. But the brief peace the Realms have known may be at an end. Tension growing between the mighty city-states means the Sword Coast again teeters on the edge of open war. Unnoticed, a greater danger stalks the City of Skilled Hands. Unbeknownst to the denizens of the North, deep in the Mere of Dead Men, dark forces from across the Realms have been rallied under the banner of a legendary evil. If left unchallenged, all of the North is doomed to fall under its power.

Even in this darkest hour, hope remains. A mysterious relic is borne to Neverwinter in the hands of a lone hero so that its secrets may be unlocked--secrets that carry the fate of all the North. So begins an epic tale of shattered alliances, noble acts, and dark deeds to be told across the Realms for generations to come.

Strategy First published the game on 2007-10-18***For the first half of the 21st century, the war on terror became a global phenomena as more blatant and frenzied attacks struck deeper into the lives of common people. Inevitably, the pressure from public outcry to stop the madness grew to an irresistible level; the military forces of the world slowly but steadily retooled their outlooks, weapons, and tactics to combat people who were willing to die for their cause.

By 2100, the world was more or less at peace, with continued discord in some regions as modernized military forces sought to track down and destroy the remaining terrorist cells that continued to fight and harass civilian and military alike. Regardless, as this war began to wane, it slowly moved out of the public's eye, and they began to pick up the pieces and try to make better lives for themselves. Not since the years following World War II had such prosperity been felt across the planet; even war-ravaged regions received a "Marshall Plan" of sorts, having their infrastructures built up far beyond what they ever were before.

As prosperity grew, so too did the ventures of capitalism. In this day and age, science was the 'new capitalism,' fueling the growth of amazing new technologies. The first high-profile ventures into the creation of a viable fusion energy source, an offshoot of the efforts of the aging multinational oil companies, began in 2105 in the United States, with the backing of billions of dollars in venture and government capital. The International Power Initiative of 2112, an agreement among nations investing in the fusion power project, but eventually including many hundreds of other projects based on energy, radically restructured how science was to approach new energy sources. The level of freedom granted to a group of corporations might have been dangerous one hundred years ago, but it was felt that today since there was not a rivalry in the race to find the secrets of fusion power first, that giving a corporation autonomy to do what it needed to do would foster creativity and growth on an unheard-of scale.

It didn't.

The world changed when Aziraal, the god of war, was slain in the huge battle long ago. The hordes of Orcs lost their divine leader and were forced to withdraw to the southern wastelands. Now, thousands of years later, the location of Aziraals tomb is still unknown, well hidden by other gods who did not dare to entrust the secret to mere mortals. But a fragile peace between the civilized races and the hordes is now at stake. When the dwarven mining expedition discovered an ancient temple dedicated to an unnamed deity - all of the world's most powerful factions saw it as a possible clue to the place of Azriaal's burial ground. A silent war has now begun and it will soon ignite the fires that will lead to the holy crusade of the Orcs. However, the real danger lies somewhere else. A powerful force churns silently – weaving a secret plot of fear and destruction. In the end, it is their goal that only one of the Two Worlds remains.

The Witcher  Atari;CD Projekt (CD Projekt RED)2007Andrzej Sapkowski, the creator of the Witcher universe, stated that he would not play the game since he has no interest in video games in general. However, he praised the game's opening cinematic, which (partially) tells the story of Sapkowski's very first short story, called simply Witcher (Wiedźmin). The Polish version of the game also comes with this short story.***The original (Polish) version of the game features some allusions to the Polish national-conservative party Law and Justice (Polish: Prawo i Sprawiedliwość). The party's name is mentioned by NPCs in the game in connection with corruption and discrimination against non-humans. Also at some point Geralt may dismiss an NPC saying "Spieprzaj, dziadu!" (approximately "Piss off, old man!"). The cofounder of Law and Justice and president (at the time the game was released) of Poland Lech Kaczyński once famously said those words to a heckler.***Un juego curioso, ya que su manejo e historía son de corte clásico (control en combate "por turnos", inventario complejo e historia de decisiones vinculantes)

The censoring (in NA release) is associated with all the instances where you have sex with the gals. This shows only a very scantily clad art piece of the person and nothing else, so it isn't really that explicit even. More like extremely suggestive. The art pieces were re-touched to make them more modest (such as bare breasts being covered). The dryad NPC was made to have more cover as well in-game (the dryad is fully nude in European releases, though the textures are blurry and don't show any great detail).

The Enhanced Edition is available for free as downloadable update for the owners of the original, although it is worth 909 MB of data so expect it to take a while.***The Witcher represents the pinnacle of storytelling in role-playing games, shattering the line between good and evil with a world where moral ambiguity reigns. * It is a harsh world where nothing is black or white, right or wrong, often forcing players to choose between the lesser of two evils to advance.
* Non-linear and captivating storyline
* Full of turns, twists and ambiguous moral decisions which have real impact on the storyline.
* All quests can be accomplished in several ways and the game has three different endings depending on the player's actions and choices throughout the adventure.
* Visually stunning tactical action
* Engage in complex yet intuitive real-time combat based on real medieval sword-fighting techniques.
* Motion capture performed by medieval fighting experts at Frankfurt's renowned Metric Minds studio, resulting in 600 spectacular and authentic in-game combat animations.
* Six combat styles, dozens of potions, complex alchemy system, modifiable weapons and powerful magic add tactical depth to the fluid real-time experience.
[Atari]***The Game

„The Witcher" returns to the tradition of the role-playing genre with a fresh and modern approach, emphasizing story and character development in a vibrant world, while incorporating spectacular and well developed combat system like no game before it. The story is set in the world described in five books - giving additional credibility and depth of the background of the story.

The game features the player as a „Witcher", a warrior who has been trained to fight since childhood, subjected to mutations and trials that transformed him. He earns his living killing monsters and is a member of a brotherhood founded long ago to protect people from werewolves, the undead, and a host of other beasts.

The Vision

Our vision of the game can be described as: A modern story-driven RPG with unique hero, stunning visuals and easy-to-use, yet complex combat system. Perfect both for fans of storytelling and admirers of vigorous action.

Main Features

Deep and intriguing storyline
* Interesting story full of twists and turns in a complex and coherent setting.
* Most quests can be accomplished in several ways.
* Three different endings that depend on player's actions and choices throughout the whole adventure.

Dynamic and visually spectacular action
* Real time combat with motion captured animations performed by a master of medieval sword combat.
* Ragdoll and rigid body physics, powered by Criterion's Karma Engine to simulate interaction with opponents as well as elements of surrounding.

* Game world which is more „adult" and less „fairy-tale" than typical fantasy.
* The world which is not black and white and is inhabited by believable characters.

Easy to use
* Thanks to transparent and intuitive controls, players are able to enjoy the game right after beginning without a long learning curve. During the game the complexity of the system will be gradually uncovered.
* All actions can be done using the mouse only, however shortcuts for all of them are fully configurable.

King's Bounty: The Legend  1C Company;Atari;Paradox Interactive (Katauri Interactive)2008King's Bounty: The Legend is an adventure game with tactical turn-based battles and role-playing elements. In a fairy tale fantasy world of fearless knights, evil mages, wise kings and beautiful princesses the player controls a hero. Leading their character through the game world, exploring it, commanding armies in battle and accomplishing various quests can mean great reward or huge defeats.

Gameplay is divided into two major sections: adventure mode and battle mode. While playing in adventure mode the gamer controls their character in real-time. With several classes available at the start of a new game, the player moves through the adventure map seeking various treasures, fighting monsters and accomplishing quests tasked to him by the local stewards. Once in battle mode the gamer assumes the role of a war chief, leading his troops in tactical turn-based combat. Battles take place on land or sea, in dungeons or castles or even in some items! Mass Effect  Microsoft Game Studios (BioWare;Demiurge Studios)2008Mass Effect is a military science fiction media franchise created by Casey Hudson, Drew Karpyshyn and Preston Watamaniuk. * 1.01 (?)***Not as great as I expected, and the driving around in Mako is horrible most of the time as well as the final bit of the ending just makes me feel sickly. My recommendation is, if you want to enjoy this game, stick to the main story and avoid any side exploration/quests completely, and try to bear the last bit of the ending (the parts where humans talk). Replayability comes mostly from dialogs as otherwise the game gets quite dull, and unfortunately you need those dialogs to progress your renegade/paragon ranks to open the more interesting dialog choices since these are separate from your regular leveling and skills.***Free expansions:

multiple endings — more like ending with variations; the core of it stays the same.
However, a notable difference is that if the alien council survived or not, depending on if you chose to save them. If you didn't, humanity will take charge, otherwise humanity is invited to take place as the fourth council race. Other, "more important", details stay the same regardless.
special agent protagonist — player is appointed a job similar to this somewhat early in the game, so this isn't true from the start.
nationalism — the protagonist and his higher ups are constantly trying to drive the cause of the Human Alliance, it's importance and how you're part of it is constantly hammered at you and occasionally you get to do the same for others.
unlikely sentients — Rachni, Geth to some degree (in mythos puts them on par with rogue A.I.), the plant creature, and some others

Fallout 3  Bethesda Softworks (Bethesda Game Studios)2008A spin and rebirth of the saga, brings back a desolate atmosphere but in FPS-packed-action; neverless, the VATS compensates incredibly for the turn-system action.
Sadly, the story empowers epicness over good story, with immortal characters an black/white characters in general (there are exceptions)
But is important for being the predecessor of Fallout: New Vegas, who is better in every way possible and retakes the old developers of Fallout 1 and 2.

Giant Insects, Raiders, Slavers, and yes, even Super Mutants are all no match for superior Vault-Tec engineering. Yet one fateful morning, you awake to find that your father has defied the Overseer and left the comfort and security afforded by Vault 101 for reasons unknown. Leaving the only home you've ever known, you emerge from the Vault into the harsh Wasteland sun to search for your father, and the truth.

V.A.T.S. allows you to pause time in combat, target specific body parts on your target, queue up attacks, and let Vault-Tec take out your aggression for you. Rain death and destruction in an all-new cinematic presentation.
* Mind-Blowing Artificial Intelligence! – At Vault-Tec, we realize that the key to reviving civilization after a global nuclear war is people. Dawn of War II  THQ (Relic Entertainment)2009It’s the 41st Millennium in the Sub-Sector Aurelia – a cluster of worlds on the edge of the galaxy – where a battle of epic proportions is about to commence. Ancient races will clash across the planets that dot this sector of space, battling for the greatest of stakes – not only for control of Sub-Sector Aurelia – but the fate of each race.

With a focus on fast-action RTS gameplay, Dawn of War II brings to life the science fiction universe of Warhammer 40,000 like never before. Experience the intimate brutality of battle as you play through your chosen race’s epic campaign. Clash with the enemies on battlefield ablaze with visceral melee and ranged combat. Lead and develop your squads from raw recruits into the most battle hardened veterans in the galaxy. Also included is The Last Stand, a co-operative game mode featuring user controlled heroes fighting waves of enemies.***Deviating a lot from the first Dawn of War, this RTS plays more like a tactical-action (Commandos) than a strategy game (even with is touches of Command and Conquer)

Pros:
-Great controls, even to seem easy to use many units in the field.
-Equipment and leveling up: brings some roleplay elements in the development of your team.
-Tyranids.
-3 game modes: campaign (Space Marines cleansing places), coop defense (pick your hero and prepare to withstands waves of enemies) and multiplayer (a mix between a hero RTS and a MOBA)

Cons:
-Too many times soldiers adopt stupid covers (like being in the two sides of a trench)

6 of 10***DoW2 is perhaps best defined as tactical RPG than strategy RPG, with RPG elements mostly covering only how good your characters are doing their stuff and the otherwise equipment based system. There's no role-playing to speak of, though.***Tagline: "Your slavery to the False Emperor ends today!"***Latest version: 2.2.0 (as of 2010-04-??)

Version history:
* 1.3.2 (2009-05-14)***Although the devs/publishers touted a lot about new approach to RTS with the title, the only thing I noticed to be truly new (for the type of RTS DoW2 is) was that your troops couldn't be killed for real. Few units (4 squads total in this case) to somewhat non-linear tactical missions have been done before, although none before in my experience are so lenient on the matter. Your squads can't be killed since only the squad leader is actually important and he can only be knocked unconscious. If all squads become unconscious, emergency evac is pulled and the squads and their leaders are back to full strength as if nothing happened. You lose the turn in the overworld meta-game with a lost battle, but that's hardly anything new. The squad leaders gain experience and level up occasioally, which can be spent on very few areas of interest, and they can be given new equipment which most of the time just makes them more powerful, resilient and generally more efficient.

Each map has several teleport beacons scattered around where squads can be re-inforced, 2 secondary objectives which can be completed, and the primary objective. These are invariably(?) placed at the 4 corners of the tactical map. You can perform multiple attacks on single turn if you perform sufficiently well in a battle, but this is usually unlikely on harder difficulty settings. Each map also holds a boss at the primary objective location who usually has 200 times (and more) as much health as the more regular units from the tougher end. On harder difficulty settings these become rather dreary as you spend most of the time resuscitating unconscious squad leaders and doing round-trips to teleport beacons for re-inforcements than actually fighting the bosses.

In conclusion, the base tactical gameplay is interesting like in any other tactical game, but all value is lost from the fact that you can practically never lose and success in missions is purely based on how well you manage to keep at least one squad conscious long enough to get the others back up, beyond that, all your great tactical plans are pointless except to reduce the number of times you need to get the squads back up.***2009-01-19 gone gold

Alien Shooter 2 - Reloaded Sigma Team2009Notable differences with the original are missing voice overs, the lack of separate weapon skills - you no longer need certain level on a weapon skill to use more powerful weapons - and the damage modifier has been merged with accuracy skill (formerly this was purely accuracy, now it's universal weapon skill, offering both increased accuracy and some damage improvements). This simplifies your weapon choices to economic issues. Implants no longer have intelligence requirement and you can only have one implant in use at any time, effectively making intelligence almost pointless (formerly lack of intelligence restricted more powerful implants from your use and you could have 3 implants total in use). Armor skill has been removed completely, allowing anyone to wear any armor they want. And then there's the additional missions (missions 8 and 9, a small town). And net ranking.***Alien Shooter 2 - Reloaded is a modified version of the Alien Shooter 2 game. We started working on it right after release of AS2, taking into account the players' wishes. Well, here's the list of what we've done:
1. Size of the full version installation file was reduced to 300 Mb, compared to 1Gb of the original Alien Shooter 2. Large installation file prevented users with slow connection from buying and downloading the game.
2. Player upgrade parameters simplified. Now you don't need to develop separate skills for each weapon type, so you'll be able to complete the game using all the weapon types featured in it.
3. Two new missions added. Now the game features 17 full levels.
4. New individual shooting mode added - Gun Stand. You will use powerful military equipment to eliminate advancing enemy troops. As the game goes on, you will upgrade your weapon in different ways, and the right choice will let you win the battle!
