Includes boss fights against characters that are on par or nearly so with real boss battles in difficulty, but often are not as important in terms of plot. Commonly non-unique unlike real bosses.

Notable people involved: Dean Dodrill, Markus Persson 'Notch', George Kamitani, Ari Pulkkinen and Daniel Rosenfeld

Alternate names: Sub-bosses, Mid-bosses

Unlike real boss battles, these may be optional. Often these are more powerful versions of enemies that later appear along normal mooks and appear along normal place instead of boss fight arenas, allowing players to freely go in and out of the fights instead of being locked in them until someone is defeated.
